I am an Engineer on a 90ft fishing vessel. A friend said I should film some of the things I do during the day, so I made this video as a test!
...
I’m quite happy with how it turned out. Captain said we should film bigger jobs! More random engine room stuff to come!

Reminds me of that 'no talkin' Australian guy' who builds primitive huts and whatnot with his hands.

@@ZVella yeah, but, Landshark uses hard subtitles. PT uses subtitles through the youtube player and that seems to go unnoticed by a now-shrinking group of people. Just about every PT video, someone says 'remember to turn on subtitles' and there's a few replies expressing thanks or saying they didn't know.

Edit: typo @Adam Rivera I’m open to suggestions! Keep in mind engines are running 90% of the time down there so I can’t talk. I think voice overs are kind of cheesy, though I may play around with them in the future. Do you have any ideas for what could be better?

@@EthanLandshark The hard subtitles are fine. I like subtitles on everything from anime to movies to TV shows (closed captions). I trust subtitles over my own ears because either a professional subtitle maker did it or the script was used to make it- which often has the whispering moments that are usually nearly inaudible. I think the font you use is also fine but for scenes that make a bright background, the white text will need a black outline to make it readable in any situation.

@@EthanLandshark Burned shore power plug blades. Hydraulic hoses that look fine (wet?) outside but are puckered up to barely an opening inside. What happens to anyone caught with a roll of teflon tape around your engine room. You know, everyday shit. or, where did the oil on the air filter come from? What's the pyro trying to tell us?

You get used to it. I'm very comfortable in small spaces, I love the beds on the boat because they are like little sleep capsules, super cozy!

The air filters are for the intake air ? What is the frequency of change ?
@kevincrosby1760
@kevincrosby1760 3 года назад
In a relatively small engineering plant such as this, the engines will take their intake air from the engineering spaces. There will then be an air intake for the space going up to the weather decks, generally with a blower fan to assist in supplying sufficient air. Allowing the air pressure in the space to go negative can make opening a hatch an adventure...depending on how it is hinged and what side you are on, the pressure difference when you undog it will either hold the hatch shut or blow it open. Getting hit in the face with a steel hatch will remind you next time to ensure proper air flow prior to starting engines. Further, the air intake for the engineering spaces can generally be closed from a point outside of the space. In the event of a fire which grows past the ability to contain it, you can evacuate the space and secure the air intake, thus denying the fire a source of oxygen.
