I am not totally sold on humane as i see huge limitations on the product i saw on ted talk which i think can be better delivered in another format. As you are part of the team you must have better insider info on what humane will eventually bring out to market so i'm excited to see that. I do feel very optimistic because of Imran and bethany creating a badass team.
I know Humane has gathered an all-star team of brilliant designers and engineers. I know Imran is an incredible design leader. I know all of these things. And yet, I still get major pause over the idea of this device. I'm a tech enthusiast, but also just an admirer of great products and design. I feel like this is a device with a conception from the perspective of people who seemingly despise technology and consumer gadgets. The tech enthusiast in me says "well, I don't really WANT to remove tech from my life or make it invisible." But the design and product enthusiast in me is really excited to see what the fully-formed product is. I kind of have a suspicion that Imran was so opposed to Apple green lighting development on an XR headset (now unveiled as the Vision Pro), that he left Apple to do this. I may be wrong, but that's kind of the vibe I'm getting. The Vision Pro is pure bliss and excitement for the tech enthusiast in me. It's ALSO design/product porn, but the computer and software potential is what has me EXCITED. It's like computer nerd euphoria. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. To me, it's OKAY to be excited for consumer technology that is simply COOL. It's an entirely new playground for computer software. Someone who LOVES software is probably looking at the Vision Pro excited to tinker and play with it. Imran's perspective on the other hand seemingly looks down on that sort of euphoria and simple joy for computing. I'm not sure I agree what that.
saw a cool sofa and that one ted talk but i can't listen to you talk for more than a minute man "the team here is *cooking*" is so absurd i almost spit out my food
@@samsheffer I remember you working on it was cool to see that whole chapter play out. I've joined the waitlist. If the product is actually good I might buy it.
So proud of you Sam! Crazy to see the journey since the first live streams investigating about Humane! Super stocked for the coming months! Keep up the amazing work!
I am beyond stoked for you, I've been a follower for the good part of 10 years and it's amazing to see your progress in life! The universe works in mysterious ways, as a friend showed me the Ted video some weeks ago, but I had no idea you were part of the project! It goes without saying that the product looks awesome, yet as a quadriplegic man I won't be able to project the device on my hand, nor interact with it using hand gestures. Are you guys considering accessibility features on the device? Disability is often overlooked when creating a product, and even though I understand this from a business standpoint, it is'd be nice to be able to use the device as everybody else. All the best Sam! Ciao from Italy
@@samsheffer I just watched Imran Chaudhri's Ted Talk. His final line gave me CHILLS... "The future will not be held in your hand, and it won't be on your face either. The future of technology might almost be invisible." So dope!
Hmm, so a VR projection jacket. I absolutely would need to see someone do some thorough testing in comparing having a smartphone vs this vs say glasses and which would be the better way to handle having a 3rd party apparatus to handle the technology side of things.
Sam, I hope you speak up and not hide from the truth. How is it even possible that such a big team, with huge funding, great minds.... can produce such a mediocre product?
Thanks Sam for the TED Talk ref. I have been really amazed by Humane, and seeing it live produced me the same emotion as when I saw Steve Jobs tell the world “it’s a web browser, a navigation device and… a phone”! Best of luck on that thrilling adventure dude!!!
Great seeing you in video after chatting with you in Discord yesterday during the exciting launch! I ordered an Equinox Pin and can't wait to become more humane soon.
Damn, I literaly watched your humane video two days ago, then the ted talk (btw got me super hyped). Now you working there! Dreams do come true I guess!
I love the timing of this. It seems like the exact opposite of the Apple Vision Pro. It seems to me like humanity is going to slide into one of two camps either screen always, or screen rarely. Once the implants come, we won’t have to bother with the goggles though.
Every time I hear about this company it's all hype without actually showing useful things the device does - nobody is replacing their phone screen with a low quality lazer UI
God man I came to see what you had to say about the Ted talk after watching your video about what you think the device is only to see you got hired 😅 that's crazy amazing all the best to you kiddo
I saw your video after the big TED talk reveal and this is such a wonderful new path you're on! So sick they saw the value you bring as a storyteller and had you join the team
we need an update, the launch was a flop in terms of what the media is saying as well as most tech. but man I want this to succeed. tbh tho it seems like most people are not on board. hope it works out long term.
wish Sam and the whole Humane team the best, but after watching the TED talk, I really don't see the vision for this thing translating into real-world use. I hope there's a lot more yet to be revealed...
Can't wait to see the final product. The TED talk didn't really excite me as much and rather raised a lot of questions of how practical it is in day to day life. Hope it's not another nothing burger like Googles wonderful glasses.
I really want to see if this can separate me from my phones screen and do something innovative, Im nervous that it wont, but if the price is right then I am all in on buying one, if this can transform my interaction with technology and mean that I can do away with my phone then that would be amazing for me, my family, and eventually my daughter. my mind is saying 'please be the thing I hope you will be'
You know Sam, I've been following you for years. I was even this close to coming to meet you in Tel Aviv, if i hadn't busted my face open a few days prior on my electric skateboard. lol. I hope you don't take this the wrong way cuz I'm just trying to convey how all this humane stuff looks as someone whos watched a few videos of yours, the ted talk, etc. just trying to be honest. its a bit eye roll inducing. the website has no info besides extremely vague talk of missions, futures, the word "AI" fifty times (which as we know is a requirement for any company in 2023), visions, etc. Imrans ted talk, i mean sure we got to see his shirt siri thing and the laser which i guess counts as a tangible product but also like, meh. it really did seem like siri in his shirt. and not to shit on a guy who worked at apple for 22 years. im sure you're all smart as fuck but i can't help just feel a little underwhelmed. even more-so in a post-AppleVisionPro world. i hope im not coming off too harshly. ive enjoyed your channel and your videos for many years, im just a bit bummed to see you pushing what *seems* like yet another empty, buzzword-happy, tech company thats promising us the world and not really delivering. but i guess we'll see about that when this thing actually comes out. being that youre the "head of new media", maybe this could be some constructive criticism. or maybe im just a pompous ass who thinks youtube comments can actually matter. probably a bit of both.
dude so true , this seems like a big pile on nothing , only big buzzword and out of touch people , nothing else , this guy is hopping on the founders you know what like crazy , btw im from tlv too :D
I’m getting a little tired of waiting though, it feels like I’ve been ready to buy this device forever, stop wasting time, and bring it to the public already before someone else beats you guys to it, and then we’ll be buying it from them!!!
Sam, your journey has captivated many of us for a significant period of time. It's only fair to mention the immense pride and exhilaration that resonates among us, your loyal followers, as we witness your incredible growth. Continue to surpass expectations in your endeavors, and rest assured, we'll stay tuned to your inspiring journey.
is that a shih-tzu i see? thank you very much for the kind words and overall eloquent message. i genuinely appreciate the thoughtful comment. stay tuned for more!
damn... this thing failed during the hottest time for AI. i guess when you're deep in the company culture, no one is willing to to take a humble real-world point of view and ask if the idea is any good in the first place. to be fair though, someone has to take the risk. too bad. never feels good to see a startup fail.
I ended up going down a whole rabbit hole of videos stemming from this one video but never asked the first question that came to mind when I started watching, and that is..... where's that couch from? lol
