Michael Hoffmann is an author and has written The Face of the Iguana; Freedom from Toxic Belief Systems: A Journey in Healing and Transformation. In that publication, he relates his involvement in a doomsday cult and how he escaped and revealed the nefarious tactics of cults. He expertly synthesized various ways to disassemble the negative narratives of fear-based beliefs. He included a summary of 5 years of after-life research and studies.
Michael Hoffmann is a Cognitive Behavioral Counselor, Certified Neurofeedback Provider, and international consultant and trainer. Mr. Hoffmann worked as a clinician, both nationally and internationally, in the administration of EEG Neurotherapy treatment for patients with alcohol and other drug addictions, ADD, PTSD, and other anxiety disorders. He conducted extensive training events regarding Neurofeedback for psychologists, psychiatrists, and other licensed counselors in the U.S. and countries of Latin America and Europe. For ten years, he successfully applied his Cognitive-behavioral knowledge and skills with high-risk offender populations in a criminal justice setting.

Indeed! The not so funny thing is years ago when an evangelical friend asked me if I’d accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior, I asked her what about the fate of tribesmen in Africa who’d never heard of Jesus, but who try to live a good and just life? Will they be doomed to an eternity of hell? She answered yes. So very sad. I’ve moved on.

This is how many feel when they leave their “cult” group. It’s such a trap when you think you are working for the good of all and in fact you are not. When you finally leave and start a new life things brightened and you are able to help others.

its especially difficult for people that have been very dedicated to their fear based faith for many yrs because ur left basically isolated, the friends even family are laready in that faith so ur seen as a false prophet, except online i dont know anyone who isnt into some fear based faith, like christianity, my ex spouse wont even talk to me or update me on our daughter because of this i think, the messianic jews is a form of christianity that follows all the hebrew customs, but they are very religious ,legalistic, chanting prayers from memory, etc, i tell my ex cant u just talk to god? apparantly she cannot, needs to chant and repeat every prayer from memory, and the still do the sins or bad stuff they just need to confess and ask for forgiveness. i see it for what it is now, and i was an aspiring christian minister, i still see myself as a minister but im leaning now more to the budist ancient beliefs, it is all about love!

I dedicated 22 years of my life in a religion I totally lived my life around it and my only association. When I left it, I had no friends and I was very cautious when I came in contact with other people. Hard to trust myself let alone someone else. I came away wondering what were my values afterwards if they weren’t based on the religious beliefs?? Scary times. I had an invitation recently to rejoin them again after 16 years away from it. No thank you. I have found I have other thoughts and beliefs very differently now thank goodness.

This was a very interesting discussion gentlemen. I wanted to mention that the woman in Brazil referred to by the guest is Sonia Ronaldi. She is not involved with the soul phone. The Soul phone is being developed by Gary Schwartz, a professor at the University of Arizona. He works with a man named Mark Pitstick, who acts as his spokes person. Gary would be a great guest to have on.

I know Russell M Nelson is a true prophet of God..." As soon as I stopped going during the pandemic it's like I woke up and I can't seem to go back to that even though my friends and family are all still there

Michael said spirit would even help you with heavy groceries. A month ago I would have said No Way. Well.... I need to tell you all my plug in socket story. I had my chopper plugged into a socket in the kitchen. No big deal until I tried to take the plug out. It was not going to budge. No matter how hard I tried, that plug was not coming out of the socket. This unnerved me a bit as to what could be going on, and I wanted to wait until daytime when I had sunlight and a chance to check the fuses and everything to see what was going to be needed to resolve this. Actually several days passed. I got a pliers and a wooden dowel, and I applied more pressure to pulling that plug out, pulling on the pliers while pressing against the socket with the stick. That plug was not coming out. I went to the hardware store to buy a replacement socket, because I knew that once I turned off the electricity and pulled that thing out of the wall, I was probably going to have to smash it to get the plug out. Damn. I do not like messing with electricity to begin with. A few more days passed while I was still building up my nerve. One morning last week I came out to the kitchen and the plug was no longer in the socket, but was laying on the countertop. I did not call the police to tell him that an intruder had repaired my electrical problem. I just said thank you, and went about my business but I thought I would tell you that this is indeed what happened. I can tell you too that the force I was using to remove that plug with the pliers and the dowel was to the point where I was fearful of doing some kind of electrical damage like starting a fire or something so that's when I stopped. I still have to remove that socket in case it is defective. PS, been involved in spiritualism for the last 40 years.

The Fear based Religion subject affected me as a child. It took years to realize that there's more at focus than merely a Religious Perspective. I feel, after much History, classes, studies, Research, and Listening, (I feel the Fear Based Ideology was introduced by a Dictatorial Ruler, or group of people that desired to *Control the masses.)* Thus either it was a group of Priests, Finance and Money Exchangers, and/or a King/Pharoh an Emperor, like a Constantine, whom established a "1 State Religion" from which the Varied Western Christian Religions emerged. With written Dogma, the repetitive Readings, Chants, etc, the taught the Subconscious of the Individuals the idea that they were not worthy: ie: *even today in Roman Catholic Mass, during the Communion I prep, we say: *"Lord, I'm not worthy to receive you, but just say the word and I will be healed" ...* This also creates the idea that one isn't worth of: their desires, of wealth, or happiness, etc. Oh to have the records of History, original texts, and authentic interpretations to clarify the "intended message". However, we have the "Ask and ye shall receive" and we have the "Universal Law of Attraction" and we have the Dr Bruce Lipton's whom offer the methods to Reprogram the Subconscious" listed on his site, these said to be very effective, easy, quick, and at a low to no cost depending on the choice. We have the methods to gain the Harmony and the opportunity to "establish a habit of Conscious in Thought " + "Apply Higher Mind" as there all Positive Thought Energies reside, the Lower Mind aka Ego Mind holding all the negative thought energies. When I first had my spiritual awakening I was a ‘housewife’ with two small children. One day at my door there was knock. Two, well dressed young men asked a question about God to me. I had no idea who they were, but loved answering as my recent awakening was totally profound to me. Well, I assume they believed this was their opening. From that point on they sincerely believed they were going to ‘get me’ to join their religion. They tried to convince me that I had my moment with God because of their upcoming arrival. Thus began many knocks at my door with a constant dogma of having me join their religion and giving up all prior beliefs. I was steadfast and strong with knowing what God had revealed to me and they could not penetrate it, I knew God was love. So everything in their religion that was based on fear, judgement, blind-resolutions, I completely disavowed. They were Mormons sent to the east coast states as missionaries, trained to expertly recruit followers. Perhaps I had my spiritual awakening to protect me in part from their intrusion.

Re soul phone: Roberta grimes spoke of this as well, except she doesn’t mentioned a woman in Brazil but is insistent it was a project that started on the other side. I have also had an STE, first was the peace beyond understanding, the the love I am was perceptible, and I said the same thing, I thought I would shatter from the insides out. Love in that capacity absolutely cannot to be limited by the body. The body will go away first. Thank you for another beautiful interview.

Alex, I know that by now, 3 months later, this podcast is old news to you but I wanted to say thank you for this one. It popped up in my feed as if it was posted yesterday, about 3 hours before I went for a group LBL hosted by my friends at Hawaiian IANDS, a very active sharing group. I watched this first very deliberately and I was able to get more out of the experience as a direct result. The universe was preparing me. For me personally the experience was a bit like being slingshotted around in time. It was wild. But it confirmed something huge for me about my life plan that is extremely pertinent to my life *right now* in this very moment, so thank you again. This was an important piece of the puzzle, and very timely.

I am struggling with this myself. I am going to keep loving the people who have rejected me. That doesn't mean denying my pain and hurt or negating my feelings. My orientation comes from knowing that I want to serve love. People who are rejecting me are doing so for their own reasons. I don't want to imply that I regard myself as "perfect." I know I play a role in my relationships, including what goes wrong in those relationships, and I am willing to work on whatever I am doing that might be triggering the other person or causing them to pull back. I am more than willing to make amends for any past hurt I might have caused as well. But, at the end of the day, their decision to reject me comes from their own pain, trauma, and unresolved issues and not from anything I have or haven't done. All I can do is to prioritize love and healing, pray for them, and let them know that when they are ready to take a step toward me, the door will always be open. It's not easy and I've shed many a tear in this process, but I emerge again and again affirming that this is the direction to take. I wish you healing in your own life and relationships.

Oh my gosh! this one spoke volumes to me, a lot of soul searching with religion and me asking too many questions. I came upon your podcasts Alex and love them. This is my top favorite now, and coincidentally I found Michael Newtons book "Destiny of Souls" at thrift store and couldn't put it down. THIS. I was looking to see if you had any Journey of Souls/Lives Between Lives content in your podcasts and low and behold this was posted today! What an incredible spiritual discussion you guys had. I hope to get a Newton protocol Life Between Lives regression done someday because I'd really like to have some solid guidance for this life of mine. For me, the preachers, gurus and monks all seem to miss it by an undefinable fraction of a hair and my beliefs have to sit right in my head and heart or they just don't stick. Anyway, I'd like to request more shows that talk about LBL's and the Newton Institute. Just talking to more people who've had it would probably be amazing. Heck, maybe you should consider it if you haven't done it already? Then maybe do a show about it? I'd trust you if you told us it was ligit. Anyway, Thank you for this!

The great thing about these NDE experiences is that they prove you are not the body. Beyond that they can't really offer you anything really useful. What is experienced is true but the conclusion as to the real meaning of these experiences has to be validated. The experiences are variegated and the conclusions of the experiencers as well. The astral and causal worlds which are the object of these experiences are multilayered accounting for the variety in the experiences. But these worlds are subtle material worlds and by no means spiritual. We need an NDE guru who can explain these experiences and help the experiencers to evolve spiritually. There are deceptive entities in those places and so there's some danger and we've to be very very careful.

I was 11 at Bible camp when I was told I needed to take Jesus as my Saviour otherwise I would go to hell. Everyone is born a sinner and thinks of nothing but sinning all the time. I went up the front of the meeting and took Jesus as my saviour and everyone sang a song.

@@captmorgan101472 Yes indeed. After many, many years studying the Bible, I never felt Paul truly match up to Jesus teachings. In fact Paul's letters have been chosen (in my opinion) to shore up the teachings of the Roman Church, in particular regards to the role of women. I have come to the personal opinion that Paul was something of a grandiose narcissist, talking about love and sacrifice yet coming across as quite cold and legalistic compared to Jesus. Once again, these are my own personal conclusions.

Thanks for that. 🙂 What it boils down to for me is I have been taught to believe that the Bible is the inerrant, undisputable, complete Word of God. Using that premise as a starting point means you end up full of questions and confusions, but Pastors and teachers (I think unknowingly) gaslight you and themselves with statements like "God's ways are higher than our ways, some things will always remain a mystery". Regarding the teachings of Paul, I could plainly see in real life that women were as equally intelligent and capable as men, we are all human with a human consciousness. Yet Paul taught women must learn in silence with all submission to men, and of they don't understand something they should ask their husband at home. And so on. I could not understand that God would make such rules. So something must be wrong. There is no legalism with SOURCE, only pure love.

The chanting and singing first then the message. Sounds like any christian church in America. We sing songs with messages of praise and worship to our deity then the messages are re-enforced through the preachers message and then more song. Classic brainwashing of subconsciousness. Then we believe their message and keep coming back every Sunday using the "forsake not the assembly of yourselves" scripture to guilt you into keep going to the church and the mis-use of old testament tithing traditions to get us to pay them money.

Yogananda warned that anyone stating they were channelling him after his death was NOT to be listened to, that it would have nothing to do with him. The real teachings are in Yogananda's SRF Lessons. You don't need anything more than those bona fide Lessons and guidance. It's a two-year course. The sub-Astral is teeming with false information. You can't rely on 'channelled' information given by 'guides.' Neither will channelled information ever take the place of a true Guru and initiation into Kriya or Sound and Light meditation. If you are sincere God sends a Guru, not someone who channels, a medium or a psychic. Go to living saints. Everyone keeps saying hell does not exist, but there are some who have most definitely experienced it. It is purificatory and not eternal, but it feels eternal. Once the soul has paid off its karmic debt it is reborn with a deep, unconscious revulsion to the previous actions that led it into those sub-astral hells. It can be avoided, that is what a true Guru is for, especially if you want to escape the round of birth and death.
