Just incase it’s not obvious, washing my t-shirt 3 times was for experimental purposes only so I could show you the results! I don’t want anyone coming at me telling me this wasn’t eco-friendly 🙈😆So, I’m interested, did you know all of these hacks or did any of them blow your mind?! xx
I had a taco sauce stain on my favorite white t shirt and couldn't get it out with similar methods you tried, so I set it out in the sun for the afternoon and the stain completely disappeared! I saw the sun recommendation on Instagram from @useless_dk. Thanks for your wonderful content!
@@TashiaTomlinson love this!! This is the first time I’ve heard about this sun technique! A few people have said it bow in the comments. Amazing 🌞 I can’t wait to try it! 🙏🏽 xx
Same here❣️ I literally just used Dawn yesterday to get rid of spots on my BRAND new sweater. Grease Spots from my older washing machine almost ruined it and I even took it to the dry cleaner and they couldn’t remove those spotty stains. Just before pitching it I used dawn dish soap scrubbed and hoped for the best and it worked!! Like brand new again. I also don’t waste money any longer on Carpet cleaners. If my cat gets sick… Dawn dish soap, if I accidentally track dirt or mudd on carpet or spill something… yep Dawn dish soap lol.
Great video! I love the hacks you suggested. My own hack is when I have a white tee that gets old and stained, I use tea to dye it and I wear it under my wool or cashmere jumpers. This way, you keep your jumpers clean, especially when you sweat under the arms and it helps when the sweaters are itchy too.
For pulled threads in fabric, I also like to use a very fine Crochet hook to pull the pulled loops through to the inside of fabric. I bought a set in an op shop - never actually crocheted with it, but great for pulling the threads through ☺️. As a bleach I also order sodium percarbonate online - cheaper than bleach from a supermarket, and safe enough to clean beer equipment apparently...😆
I use a thinner silk scrunchie set for the elastic hairband hack. I use this to roll up long sleeves on my button up blouses. Definitely less painful than a traditional elastic hair band!
Great video ! I loved the tip about using your hair as a way to avoid getting makeup on your t-shirt Thank you so much! You look amazing! I bet everyone agrees with me!!
Hi Emily! Thank you 🙏 great video. I’ve been using baking soda plus vinegar for about one year to wash my bedsheets, kitchen fabric towels, bathroom towels, white clothing… and it’s amazing!!! If you need, you can repeat the process of applying this paste two times or using the sun light to help to get rid of the stains. Also it’s a game changer to remove yellowness of white Leather Sneakers. Also, it helps a lot with sweat smells in the summer or for workout clothing. I don’t know anymore how to live without it 🤣.
You can use a bobby pin to catch pulled knits and pull them back to the inside of the sweater. Also, try sun bleaching those armpit stains! Loved the silk scarf hack. ❤
I totally saw the 🐈 sniffing the sewing kit. I love your videos but I equally love the cat. 🥰❤️❤️❤️ Is his name Fanta like the 🍊soda ? New subscriber here
Great video 😃 I love the idea of using my hair in the change room! Ahhh Fanta, ever the curious cat 😆😅🐈 🧡 I love his complaining when you picked him up 🤣 Hope you are doing ok in lockdown Emily, stay safe and well xx😊💕
Thanks so much for the tips, especially the baggy sweater etc tucks, these I didn't know at all! The silk scarf trick blew me away, but I prefer the hair trick myself! I also like to use a toothpick to pull the threads of my sweaters on the inside of my cloth so they won't show. I am still struggling with yellow stains so I am going to try your stain removal tips. As for the dropped pin you can also use a magnet to pull it up the carpet. Or if you don't have a magnet for pins, a fridge magner will do the trick just nicely💖✨👍
watching your videos gave me some really great ideas and I tried out some outfits and I am so appreciative of the inspiration because I finally feel good about myself and what I'm wearing so thank you so much for your tips and just making me feel so much better about myself
Loved the video, and needed to learn some of your hacks. I found also, if you let your tshirt dry naturally in the sun, making sure that the stain gets full sun - the sun will do the final stain removal - its amazing.
Try a rub from a laundry bar called Felz Naptha. Pretty sure that's how it's spelled. NO stain can resist its wonders. I have also usedit on polyester blouses to remove odor.😮
Great Video! I've tried some of these fixes for stains...bleach usually does no better. I've also stopped using bleach and have moved to more eco friendly soaps/cleaners. I try to stick with plant-based products. ❤
Miss, here are hacks you may want to play with. First, a knit-picker. Mine has saved many a sweater. And shirt-stays (normally worn by men) for when you tuck in a baggy garment/shirt to keep it in place. No more tucking, re-tucking all day. And the best cat hair remover in my opinion is the Pledge fabric sweeper for pet hair. Its re-usable and totally goes after pet hair!! And Ms. Thomas below is correct about dishwashing detergent. It is full of enzymes that love stains!! I put in on stains and leave the garment in the hamper until wash day. And don't let folks forget about ice- the supreme blood stain remover (never use heat on blood, it will set the stain). Just rub the cubes on the stain until they melt (you will see the stain dissipating), and then some dish detergent.
What a fabulous video, Emily! Excellent tips that I will definitely try. Btw, bleach would NOT remove the yellow stains, so using it really isn’t an option anyway. Once those stains are set, they are permanently there, even if you fade them a bit. Unfortunately, my experience has taught me that white tees just need to be replaced. However, you deserve an A+++ for preserving on that project. Thanks!❤️
Love your video's! To me the hack with the jumper and the hair elastics was mind-blowing! I"m gonna use it for sure! What I use with yellow staines in white blouses tops or t-shirts is dishwasher rinse. Use it on the stain, wait a couple of hours and than wash your top/blouse or t-shirt. It always does the trick for me, except when my shirt is really old. Than buy a new one does the trick 😉 Sorry for my English, I'm from Holland.
Hi! I’ve used your ‘scarf over the head to avoid make up on your clothes’ technique for two years now! You mentioned it in a hacks video a long time ago. Now, I travel with a thin scarf for that reason! Thank you for your videos! Love from the USA! ❤️🇺🇸
For pulls or snags in sweater, you can also use a crochet hook, or needle threader, or big needle to push through the knit from the inside, hook or put the snag through the hole in the threader or needle and pull the snag to the inside.
Thank you Emily for your kind and amazing video, I have definitely learned a few tricks and will try them. For the yellow stains on the white T-shirt, I usually use a simple cloth soap with water and rub gently on the stains, then I leave the T-shirt a day or more and wash it with the other white clothes. It works great !
using a small crochet hook works well to pull through thread snags, or use anything with a blunt head to it so you don't pierce the snag by accident. great tips EEM! Thank you very much!
On all stains, try equal parts Dawn dish soap, baking soda and peroxide. Leave it sit for at least a few hours. Sometimes I go to check and pour more of the leftover on it after an hour or so. I have used this on colored t shirts with grease stains and it does not hurt the color.
Use a slightly damp rubber glove what you wear for washing up to remove pet hairs works brilliant and also quicker than sticky tape. Works great on furniture too.
A slightly damp sponge or microfiber cloth also work as a lint brush. I use them to get pet hair off my upholstered furniture. Just rub in one direction and the fur will collect and you can just lift it off.
Thanks Emily… that shoulder bag you tried on when showing us those hooks in the cupboard looks really pretty… may i know where you bought that from please? Thanks much
You can also use a nail to make a hole in a belt, or better yet, shorten the belt from the buckle end. Disconnect the buckle, cut the belt an inch or two shorter, then reconnect the belt.
Thanks for your great videos :) I learn a lot from you. Can you please tell me from where did you buy tour cream cardigan? I love it. seems so cozy and comfortable
Another trick for keeping makeup off your clothes is to put a shower cap over your face while dressing. Saw a video of a famous entertainer's staff using this on her for quick costume changes during a show. That way you don't mess up your scarves, either :)
🤣🤣 Me! I'm the person who always has to pick up the damn cat at the party. Also, you are not the only one who doesn't like constriction around the mid arm (unreasonable phobia for me). But it's the only hack I can't deal with! Enjoyed this video.
Hey so I know it's a fashion channel but do you happen to have a video on how you are able to keep such a great figure by any chance ? Love your videos
Many of you are likely too young to know that men used arm bands for years and years to shorten shirt sleeves. It was also fashionable in the 60's 70's 80's for women to use them . Way before hair elastics became the thing.
for yellow stains on shirts, hydrogen peroxide sprayed directly on the spot and let sit for about an hour before washing also helps. Or if you have hypochlorous acid that works almost as well.
What is that beautiful brown bag you showed when talking about turning your bag into a backpack ? I’ve been looking for one exactly like that !!!! Please
If you live in a sunny climate like I do you can lay the white tee out in the sun to help bleach out those yellow stains. My mother said it worked better if you laid it on grass in the sun. I don't know about that.
loved the tips! saw your insta this morning, and never pay attention to trolls! Besides, you DO save lives. Tons of clothing end up in landfills, rivers and oceans. This kills hundreds of animals. By buying less we are helping to reduce this waste, hence we save lives!!! Keep up with your work, it is amazing and it helps our planet. The ONLY home we have!!! =^.^=
I will try get this into a future vlog! I use dolce and gabbana, the one. And skin care is quite mixed! But I love Aspect moisturiser. I will go into more detail in a vlog ♥️ x
As a cat person, that duct tape is relatable ! (Most of my clothes are black and few of them also knit). My family look at me weirdly when i remove the cat fluff with a tape 😂 By the way, who's your lovely-fluffy name? 😄
don't use screwdriver to make holes! use any sharp round steel piece like usual screw just warm it up on fire (stove or even lighter) and hole will be like it have always been there )
To pull through a snag on a sweater, I use a darning needle and a needle threader. I put the needle threader through the eye of the needle, and then poke the needle through the sweater at the base of the snag...I then put the snagged yarn through the needle threader, pull it through and then gently pull the needle through to the back side of the sweater. This works perfectly without stretching or disturbing the sweater at all.
I just use a few drops of half bleach half water that I keep in a dropper bottle in my bathroom. Wet the yellow spot, drip the bleach mixture on the yellowed area, let it sit for a minute or two and rinse it out in the sink. Then do the other side. Wash as normal. Super easy and very effective, without using tons of bleach...or risking bleach spots on other items. The tips you shared are great.
