I grow Wheatgrass and Timothy on flats and let my rabbit eat and run through them indoors under grow lights. I had a flat that she had trampled to where only about half the wheat grass was left with two grasses next to it. I water them about every other day. My rabbit quit sitting in them about a week ago. Today I went to water them and noticed some red or white looking stuff on the wheat grass. I was hoping it wasn't mites. Then I looked up and saw articles on wheat and durum rust. You say it moves from Barbary to wheat. This is indoors. I was wondering since its a fungus is it because I water it too often.... I think its in the red rust stage. Because upon close inspection it turns to redish when rubbing it? Nope, now that I gave separated it upon using my camera I see what I have are frigging aphids....sorry it looks like a rust though. I was wondering how not having Barbary that I could have that rust....🤦 Whats weird is they weren't on the Timothy....yet nor on a ginger plant that is right next to it that I bring indoors in the winter....might be from the dirt though but haven't inspected it as thorough. The rabbit runs through all of them to 🤷 I know, why not delete this since it isn't about rust....because it started out looking likea red fungus of some sort from the first glance and smashing through my fingers. Might be aphid blood though.....OK I'm gone, sorry but also interesting. I'll remember not to plant bayberry. And just looked it up and its banned here except the Japanese bayberry is allowed in New York, go figure.
