1996 I worked at Taco Bell, had just gotten my first car (93 Dodge Shadow V6), and there was a general positive feeling about the future. I didn’t appreciate it enough back then.
@rbatiz61
@rbatiz61 Год назад
@Dela, thanks for that comment because I say the same thing regarding the positivity that was during that time and people (young kids) look at me as if I spoke Martian or something.

Just think. In 25 years current kids aren't going to have this kind of nostalgia because everyone's streaming shows without commercials now.
@CommodoreFan64
@CommodoreFan64 3 года назад
Agreed, and what new commericals there are on places like RU-vid are spam and scam garbage that will be forgotten the next day for good reasons.
@CommodoreFan64
@CommodoreFan64 3 года назад
@M451 Don't forget all the cell phone ads from the major carriers, and companies like Apple, and Samsung. If you want everyday product commericals on TV anymore you just about have to go local commericals played during the afternoon blocks of syndicated talks shows, during the local news, or get a ROKU, and have them come up at random that way.
@CommodoreFan64
@CommodoreFan64 3 года назад
@M451 I 100% get where you are coming from, I'm just saying this is about as close as we can get these days to the commericals of old, as most local commericals have not really changed much at least in my area in the past 20 - 30 years with some of the same people still on them hocking the same products, and services.
@bdalbor
@bdalbor 3 года назад
That is an absolutely surreal feeling, knowing that commercials will soon become a thing of the past, and future children will become nostalgic on RU-vid videos and streaming services. It's scary to think that, but it's inevitable. I'm just so happy to see that, even with this complete gut punch in society, people are taking the time and effort to archive as much of this past culture as possible.

I was about 20, 21 in 1996, still very much in the youth culture. The 90s was the last decade I was either a legit kid or still felt like a kid from beginning to end. I graduated high school in 1993, and even in 1999 at 23, 24, finishing college I still felt like I was very much part of the youth culture, even if I was technically a young adult and wasn't the active participant that I was in the early-mid 90s. Talking about the 80s in the 90s was like speaking about recent old school history, not "retro history" or "vintage history". By the time the 2000s came along, I turned 25 and then 26 and things just never felt the same. Nothing against the 2000s, it's just I was over 25 and aged out of the youth culture. To me 1998 and 1999 don't even feel all that long ago, but then I realize it's over 20 years ago.

I always thought the Scream movies were dumb. Horror movies, or maybe I should say popular horror movies, kind of go in these weird cycles. Scream came out, then a bunch of horror movies from the late 90s and early 2000s followed it that had actors you'd expect to see on Dawson's Creek or something, with very little actual gore. Then the mid-2000s hit, and horror movies start to go the opposite way and try to be as violent, grim, and gruesome as they can get away with.

I remember working at Burger King making $5.75 an hour. Thought i was rich because my previous job at friendlys paid only $5.15. Worked lots of hours, had money to burn. Only bill was car insurance. Everything was cheap. Gas was $1 a gallon, cigarettes was $1.50 a pack, a 20oz soda was $.99, and I didn’t pay more then $500 for a running driving inspected quality 10-15 year old used car with less then 100,000 miles on it (that I would then beat to death for a few months and buy anther). If I was smart with my money, $20 would get through the whole week. Ah to go back to 1998/1999.

I turned 5 in that year when Arthur premiered on PBS stations all across America and was a Canadian animated children's series and it's still going on for almost 25 years compared to the Simpsons and the year I started Kindergarten at Blythe Bower Elementary in Cleveland, Tennessee!

I have to laugh at each generation boasting about their "Better technology" in 96 kids were making fun of their parent's Televisions Now it's this generation's turn to do the same. : )

I miss this time so much I had to write twice in this. I was 7 years old at this time and boy I felt like time was going to be like this forever. We didn't need cell phones or social media to keep us happy. This time was too damn great of a time. I feel like if time was to go back to this which I know it won't things in life would be so simple again and everyone would be happy. To bad it's not

I do love the intros that give it a bit of a personal touch, not to knock other youtubers that do this but I feel like you're the only one I've seen that does! I forgot about that miller lite ad, and the blatantly obvious jump-cut, haha!

I fell asleep in the movie theater watching the release of star wars. I have seen that movie so much on VHS I’m surprised the VHS lasted as long as they did.

A good year... the year I graduated high school. I was working at Best Buy, and I was making $6 an hour selling computers, and driving a Geo Metro... Life seemed great then.

96 to 2003 I consider my glory days as a young adult in metro Detroit...thanks for taking me back in time, the future seemed so promising then..now it's changed and the flavor and style is all but gone..I wish I could go back and do it over again..it went too fast.

Born in 95. Wish I could’ve actually been aware of these years. The early 2000s were still great, but the 90s took life less seriously. Life was fun and goofy.
