Great video, great filming. I saw the tour video already & it was nice to see this showing how it actually functions in different situations. Those outside lights sure made it easy to see when pulling into that spot at night. Nicely done guys, if I was Storyteller Overland I would be extremely pleased with this video.

I'm almost 39, and I would sell my home in a heartbeat to move into one of these full time. Been trying to get the wife to agree to it for years, the older we get, the closer she is to agreeing. Maybe one day soon it will actually happen. The one and only thing I'd love to see offered in the Hilt is a washer/dryer combo. Would round out a perfect package!

I always enjoy your reviews even though I have no interest in selling my Promaster. I was interested in this one as we’re in South America and Europeans love huge expedition vehicles ( you can buy them used for $100,000 if they don’t want to ship them). I don’t get the pleasure of dealing with the size but you explain these things really well.

You definitely need to go back and do the float trip. We did it in 2017, and it was mind blowing. We had a knowledgeable guide who pointed out some amazing Colorado River features, including Native American petroglyphs!

120 gallons of fresh water, 40 gallons of grey water? Where does the rest of the fresh water end up? Also, $450k and a cassette toilet? You’ve got to be kidding.

The grey tank is there for when you are somewhere you can't dump it so you don't need as much space. Also, cassette toilets are very practical and easy to use. Think man.

I love this build, but I can't understand the obsession with installing teeny tiny cassette toilets in rigs that have otherwise huge tanks. I was full-time in one vehicle that had a cassette toilet. Notice the word "had." As a solo traveler who didn't use it for anything "important" and had a trashcan for paper, i still had to dump the cassette every three days or four days or so. Yes, it's doable but it can be a royal pain in the neck to pull a cassette into a reststop toilet or across a parking lot to dump in a vault toilet especially when there are a lot of people around. And think of winter! There are a lot of places that completely close down in winter. I really wouldn't want to start finding bushes to squat behind just to save cassette capacity. There are other builders using alternate toilets that just make sense. At $400k+ I would think I could at least expect some decent indoor plumbing.

To each their own - we lived full time with cassette toilets for over 5 yrs and it would be our choice. We’ve had a black tank and I wouldn’t want another.

@Weretherussos Of course, you're right. I'm not even thinking of a black water tank. Those are also not ideal and you still have to find a place to dump. But I would love to see options like dry flush or composting toilets.

the truck is $100,000 MAX, how in the world can the camper part be worth $350,000? Never, that is insane pricing. And YES I can afford it, but that is just a ridiculous price

The truck plus wheels, tires suspension is about 150k and not even getting into all the parts, there’s about 3k hours of labor into the build and at the end of the day they need to make a profit on it. Similar rigs sell for about double the price from other more luxury builders

@@Weretherussos Yes I have seen Earth Roamers for 1.5 million, that does not mean the "profit" portion is realistic or fair in any way, in my opinion, soon the recession will hit hard, prices of recreational property and RV's will plummet, count on it, it always happens during a recession, it will happen again, weak companies will go out of business, they are already starting to fail. it's a cycle in the North American economy, we are about to go to a down cycle, I have cash, just waiting, it will happen

It’s the materials, electrical equipments, all the hardwares, suspension upgrades especially the liquid springs and the labor. I know this because I build a truck camper for my dad in the Philippines, I have to bring some of the components from here in California because it’s so hard to outsource stuff from there and believe me it cost a lot.

Gotta say I love that fresh water supply as I love clean dishes. Though for $450K I'd want the option to lose storage space in lieu of a dishwasher drawer. Gone with the Wynns have a great video on deciding to include a dishwasher in their new boat.

This is definitely my 'if I win the lottery' vehicle but I feel like with all of that work they put into it, they could have added at least 2-3 more inches to the over-cab bed based on looking at the profile. I can sit up completely in my Winnebago Warrior overcab bed :)

Still better than a side by side ripping up the track. And this kind of vehicle hardly ever see anything harder than a gravel road. Most people that drive those are too concerned about breaking something on such an expensive thing. The only ones that may do some proper offroad are some unimogs.

Great video as always! Interesting expensive rig. Hard to believe they don’t have a conventional toilet with a black tank, instead has the smallest cassette toilet made! With 4 people you’d be dumping that every day and with more and more restrictions on where you can’t dump cassettes that would be problematic.

You may want to ask Storyteller what ever happened to Adventure Trucks? They were smaller, more nimble, and totally suitable for couples overlanding. Plus, they were far less expensive.

Um - if you want a expedition vehicle for overlanding/off road camping. This is priced reasonably. To get a travel trailer that will go places a Jayco won't survive - $100,000 to $175,000. Then add another $150,000 for a vehicle that you have upgraded to handle the terrain - then MAYBE you can be cheaper.

I disagree. We’ve been down many FS roads and would have no problem navigating this through. We got through some really tight stuff up in Flag. Yeah you might rub some branches but that’s what the bed liner paint is for

@@Weretherussos You were on a narrow sketchy road in your video that if you had met a similar sized RV coming toward you on a blind corner it would have been too narrow for two large RVs to negotiate. One of the RVs would have needed to back up until a wide spot was encountered. I maintain that the Overlander RV is too big for many narrow roads in the back country and you were just lucky that on coming traffic was light.

I honestly expected a 20 point turn around. That was impressive. A big rig like that with such a tight turning radius, wow! I haven’t been in Arizona since spring of 2010. It was nice seeing some of that beautiful Sonora Desert. Cheers!

Oatman is super cool. Loved Oatman. The burrows are very friendly 😊 That road you took out is WILD, I did it in a Chevy Spark and it was tight 😂. Everything is nice for that price 😮ohhhh she’s expensive. Seligman Is great, Angel the barber literally saved R66 in Arizona. I will say that thing is LIT UP at night 💡💡

Interesting review guys, as always! I wonder why for this price and size you would get a vehicle like this one which is basically an oversized pickup rather than a real truck like an MAN, Mercedes, Saurer,... Fuel mileage at 10mpg isn't much better than a real truck which will come in around 7-8mpg. What's the turning circle of this RAM? Cheers, Chris

Diesel exhaust is toxic to human health and bad for the planet. Not even close to a perfect rig. A single oil spill, Deepwater Horizon, killed up to 150,000 sea turtles, over 1,000 Gulf dolphins and countless other marine organisisms. The spilled oil has still not all been cleaned up and the total cost will be well over $100 billion.

Wow. I remember reading your first book and dreaming of being able to financially follow in your footsteps. You guys worked hard to make it on a small budget. However, this RV is neither affordable or practical to the average RVer. I guess your new demographic is people with $5M in the bank. Good Luck!

Well, this is definitely a luxury camping and travel. Are you both becoming ambassadors for the Overlanding outfit? Coming down on the second location after an overnight with the view there was quite a wobble of the truck and the rear cabin maybe it is because of the soft suspension? Good video as usual, cheers.

If this RV was made in China, I believe the price can be controlled within 200,000 US dollars. It is really great, but it does not use particularly innovative technology, mainly reflected in the integration capability.
