When Armenia became independent state, in 1920, they put in the National Crest the Mount Ararat. Turkey sent a diplomatic protest, demanding to take out the Mount Ararat from the Armenian National crest, because the Mount Ararat is in Turkey , is a Turkish territory and not Armenian territory ! Chicherin the famous and smart foreign minister of Armenia responded , saying, OK. we take out the Mount Ararat from our National crest, if Turkey take out the Half-Moon from their National crest, because that not Turkish territory neither ! Ararat is an imaginary name. This mount is located in Turkey and called Agry dag. How the Armenians call it is absolutely irrevelant.
