You really changed my perspective of life Im glad you gave me an opportunity to show what my community is like & my life appreciate you.. My life finna change for sure
One thing I really like about Brandon is he doesn’t control the video because he knows he can’t just go into other peoples homes and lives and control them he gives them respect. Like scenes where he’s literally in the background while other people are on camera
I'm a hate viewer apparently I comment something ppl will get mad at bc they can't face reality. But u shouldn't not care of how they are people die of overdoses or drinking a lot of alcohol it's not funny they do need help even if they going through rough times you gotta care u can respect them but not just leave them alone
Or doing crimes if they have that on their mind or something similar u gotta still help them. Idc what ppl say nowadays it's all stupidity and doesn't make sense
Bro with the flip phone is about as stand tall as it get for sayin he’d protect you n for tellin the kid he not Just a fan. Wholesome episode fr much love
as a Richmonder there are other projects and communities in Richmond that statistically have more violent crime today but the history in Jackson ward runs deep
This is true. At least this RU-vidr called the project what it is, Gilpin Court. The Mont guy kept saying Jackson Ward which really short changes the vastness of the Jackson Ward area. All the businesses, houses, it’s more or less a district/zone of Richmond City. As you know, Gilpin Court is a housing project within the district/zone of Jackson Ward. This is for those who don’t know the area.
As a fellow Richmond native my family grew up here back in the day and remembers the 90s when it bad bad in Richmond when we would visit from New Jersey. But eventually we all came back down here right now. I’m off monument Avenue and I love it at times It can bring down here but the vibes here are very chill
Ron bandup was the Man. Everyone else nowdays always got to be a tough guy and act like they're about that life But Ron was Different he Had Positive Vibes and Was always smiling. thats the kind of dude that can go anywhere in the world and make friends. Shout out to him
@@BrandonBuckingham Will do that straight away. Gotta support the real ones. Talking about real ones. You're a real one. Always enjoying your videos man. Keep that shit up !
Nothing to protect it was Shamrock the Block, an event where white ppl all come out and get Irish drunk downtown. Dude was just overwhelmed by crowds and it was kinda reckless that the kid was walking around with his hand in his jacket holding like things were going off when in reality its a huge crowd of bystanders
Just wanted to update y’all PawPaw is back home and recovering from his brain bleed. Thank you to everyone who sent kind messages, we still have a ways to go but things are looking much better this week. PS: huge shoutout to RonBandUp and YP Tae for keeping me safe during this video! PS PS: I filmed the wildest video ever with Skrilla and YBC Dul in kensington two days ago. gonna drop it next week be on the lookout.
Im from Bronx, New York and moved to the northside of Richmond back in 2017. I did uber and lyft and used to drive around the Jackson Ward area, and yes, they are notorious. BUT, like dude said, if you dont look for trouble, you are good money. I used to get customers from all the court housings (projects how we say in New York), and these kids schooled me to how things are in those hoods. I remember one time I drove a family to Mosby Courts, and these people was having a block party. I told them now thats how you do it, we all laughed. The girl even asked, would I like to vibe out with them. If i didnt have to make money, i would have. Again, dont look for trouble, you good to go.
Dude is right about the DMV. Northern VA ain't nothing like Richmond. Richmond has it's own flavor and culture. It's actually awesome. All the places (Dc MD & VA) got their own flavor. Blessings to you Buckingham for sharing the light energetic people of Richmond 🪻✨
True. Alexandria, Fairfax, Crystal city all DMV, Fredericksburg is stretching it. Richmond is an hour south from Fredericksburg which is an hour south of DC. I'd say with anything within an hour is DMV "metro Area".
@@antonjamesburke An HOUR outside the Metro 🤦🏽♂️ 😂 DMV is the Metro line ONLY. If it doesn’t have a Metro Rail running through it, it’s the outskirts. Period.
I'm from Richmond, Virginia. I been locked up with a lotta dudes from Jackson Ward. I'm so glad that you gave this place it's due! Shoutout to you, man. This made me feel somethin special. Been watching Brandon Buckingham forever but never thought I'd see him in my neck of the woods. Much love
I don’t know anything about how the hood works from an inside perspective, but I like how the majority of this video it was all about positivity. “If you don’t have beef, then don’t start beef. It’s not worth it”
Bucki is really the type of a dude who can get along with anyone, so chill and sarcastic I swear. Ron is always smiling and these people do speak some positivity, so I do hope they make it and it makes their lives more peaceful. They do have a mentality on the right path
Soooooo, this was an interesting clip. Students from a highschool I used to work at. They educated me on information I had no clue about. Respect 👊🏾 for the lesson back✌🏾
My dude said "This is for Richmond" & takes the last shot of Jack Daniels & immediately spits it back out 😂😂 after gargling Jack Daniels like listerine dude struggled more & more after each shot 😂😂
@@Based_Sir887 seriously that dude seemed like the definition of a try-hard. "Can I rap please? you gotta pay me tho!" and trying to clown his buddy just cause there's a camera in his face...
i respect the balance of videos on your page, you’re able to make funny content while also focusing on serious matters, which is really rare these days
Brandon you the shit bro . Doesn't matter where you go people fuck with you and this shows everyone can get along wherever you from when your respectful to their community. Just good vibes and respect brothers and sisters .
Gilpin Court and Jackson Ward getting put on the map, it’s dangerous but I’m glad it’s getting awareness with this, the community appreciate this one fa shooo! 💯
It was on the map back in the '90s when Christopher Goins killed 5 people, including 3 children ages 3, 4 and 9 all relatives of Tamika Jones, who he also tried to kill and was pregnant with his child at the time. It was a lot worse back then.
im not gonna lie, this prolly the best group of people ive seen in any of the tommyg/BB on the ground vlog style. everyone in the group hella positive and still were cooking in the snack house.
I’m late to this. I’m from Delaware and DMV is dc metro va. So PG county, maybe a portion of Anne Arundel, DC, NoVA. (Arlington, Fairfax, Fairfax co..) Baltimore isn’t dmv, Richmond isn’t dmv.
Growing up in the DMV, I never heard Richmond being considered within the "dmv". I believe it's because DMV, you have bunch of people commuting into DC for work from Montgomery and PG counties, Fairfax/Loudoun/Prince William counties. Not as many people commuting from Richmond to DC daily for work, as Richmond is a major City with jobs/companies, not just Suburban area where most jobs would be retail/food.
This!! I'm in southern Va and not many of us really say we from DMV. When you think of DMV, you think of the city and DMV really is the part where they all connect if that makes sense. Like if you from DC then obv you from DMV but as i'm from southern Va, I wouldn't really say i''m from the DMV even tho technically we are ig. I don't even know how to explain it. Most of the southerns in Va don't even want to be apart of northern Va.
Jackson Ward is one of Richmond’s most valuable and significant neighborhoods. Nicknamed the “Harlem of the South” because of its strong African-American heritage and culture, the people of Jackson Ward in the early 20th century created a self-sustaining economy that made the area famous as the “Black Wall Street”, alive with restaurants, theaters, and clubs. The area was a center for black enterprise and entertainment from the early 1920’s to the late 1940’s. Jackson Ward was also home to Maggie Lena Walker, the first woman bank president. She founded Consolidated Bank & Trust, the oldest surviving black-operated bank in the United States whose main branch is still located in Jackson Ward at 1st and Marshall Streets. The area has many historic and unique homes that range from the early to late 1800’s. This is a total misrepresentation of JACKSON WARD!!!!! One project that sits on 6 blocks of land IS NOT JACKSON WARD. DUDE you are foul!!!!
Shout out to Richmond from Baltimore I got peeps out there. I don't feel like neither Richmond/Hampton roads or Baltimore is the DMV but to the rest of America we are
bro agreeddd!! the most dangerous activity in jward these days is being a bicyclist lol. so many of my friends have been it by cars while biking in jward. but for sure east side alphabet soup area is way worse.
@@Shecanread_shesbad 1000% it's worse over there. When you live on "R street" they just don't want to waste money with more letters... It's fucking bad😆😆😆
Shoutout to Richmond. I’m a Southside dude so you never found me around any the Big 6 housing projects, but I grew up when Blackwell was poppin before they tore them down. Props to Broad Rock too.
The young kat with the flip phone got more heart than half some towns. Keeping it real AF with what he's got and str8 making it not only work but but making it work hard. Shout out from ur NC boyz
Ron, You a leader mann i hope u truly make it out that bad environment, you truly got a good mentality and you truly got alot of potential man i see it abd i hope u see it as well man . 💯 the way u carry urself say alot obout u man Good luck.
For all these differnt videos of different hoods all over the US and being from Baltimore myself its nice seeing these dudes not trying promote violence or being gangster and even into political views.
Jus wanted to say thanks for uploading buck I rlly needed ts today ain’t even finna lie😂 and I hope papa is doin good🖤 yall gotta get that road trip rollin!!
You should consider checking out Roanoke, VA. It's a small ass city of like 100,000, but consistently ranks as one of the most dangerous in Virginia, even above Richmond. Only in certain areas, though - it's mostly contained around Melrose Ave. People get shot literally daily, which is nuts for such a small ass city. Editing in: I loved this video, it was kind of wholesome. The snack house and them literally swooping you away and protecting you. I hope all the good things happen in life to these people
Gtfoh, dangerous from what bear attacks and mountain lions. I have been to Roanoke several times and have never felt any dangerous vibes. That ish isnt nothimg to brag about.
And yo I'm so freaking tempted to sign up for your Patreon, those dude's were mad chill they gave off great vibes. Wish the video didn't end so quickly, I wanna watch more of it. Hopefully you have that one guy in more video's in the future! 🤞
I’m from Virginia and still here I drove by this place many times and it makes me sad how we’re not trying to renovate and make more money for these types of areas and I watched on the news of that guy who died rip that man
I'm a native Richmond Virginia and grew up in Dove court, which is basically right down the street from Jackson Ward. we left Dove court in 96 before they tore it down and rebuilt a subdivision. I went to school with a lot of Jackson ward people too. I'm going to subscribe as I literally just started my first podcast today!
jackson ward is not a project. it's a neighborhood that has houses as well. jackson ward also has an area that belongs to the local college VCU, which is one of the most prestigious schools in America. jackson ward's Clay ST. is behind the Segal Center, where VCU has their basketball games. Gilpin Court is the name of their projects. Jackson Ward is the neighborhood that Gilpin Court is in, and it's basically in the back of the neighborhood..the end of it. jackson ward has one of the most prestigious high schools that is invite-only called Virginia's Governor School. Jackson Ward is the area where Maggie Walker created the first black bank established by female. Gilpin Court is literally like 1% of Jackson Ward...The majority of the real estate in Jackson Ward has homes that are worth $500,000 and up because it's so close to the prestigious college VCU. A house that my family bought in 1972 for $17,000 in Jackson Ward is now worth $475,000 because the value is high. Gilpin Court is a blip of Jackson WARD. That's like saying we're eating pepperoni because we have a pizza that has a few pieces on it. No, we're eating a pizza. Jackson Ward is diverse with various ethnicities/has a great history/a high real-estate value/great homes and businesses..so to say its a "project" is disrespectful. Gilpin Court is the project you're speaking of...and it's barely in Jackson WARD. It's at the end of Jackson Ward bordering Northside Richmond..it's literally the last 1% of physical land that makes up Jackson Ward, it's not big enough to be the sum total of o it.
I lived in Manchester... Southside... for years... just be respectful and you'll get respect... it's the south, we accept you with love. Hull Street what??
