I used to live in California. I moved away more than a decade ago and never looked back. It's not in your head... it's too expensive and the people are incredibly unfriendly compared to other parts of the country. NYC has friendlier people, but is horrendously expensive.

regarding friendship - it’s quality over quantity. despite only being 17, i faced a horrendous bowel cancer scare just recently. sadly it runs in the family and claimed the lives of my uncle and grandfather. - without your content I probably would’ve ignored the signs that my physical health was declining; polyps were found on my sigmoid and I was told eventually they would’ve become cancerous. with my family history, the cancer is known to be extremely aggressive and difficult to treat. sometimes with even some of my closet friends, i was unable to open up because everyone else was trying to deal with their own problems. however it felt like nobody was there to pick up my pieces despite me being their to pick up theirs. just remember you’re making a difference to the people who watch your videos. i essentially owe my life to you. love, aiden.

Hi Kam thank you for this. It really means a lot to me to hear other people talk about the difficulties of Los Angeles, especially from a woman. I was born in and have lived in Los Angeles all 49 years of my life, turning 50 in less than three weeks. Make no mistake about it, for people out there who want to "chase their dreams" in LA, please God go somewhere else. This place is becoming a full dystopia by the minute. There is so much wrong in not just this city, the County of LA with politics, social, economics, government services, employment, business's ability to hire is universe in itself of many, many difficulties that the rest of the country does not have to endure just based on the dynamics that Hollywood/Entertainment, and the Beverly Hills/Calabasas nonsense creates. Too much to explain. If dating is hard for ANY woman and especially in Los Angeles/San Fernando Valley, I guarantee it is at minimum triple that difficulty and in different ways for the vast majority of men here. It would take hours to articulate which none of us have. On one hand, I thank God that I never gave into any of my ex's to get married or have kids. On the other hand, I want a woman who understands that quitting the relationship the second the romantic high ends is so wrong. It is a partnership, NOT a fairy tale.... AND, understand that not everyone can have the "A Lister's" lifestyle. So much must change just with gender dynamic and dating so people can finally get back together and start building lives together. The employment situation is another dimension here that is putrid that is both directly and indirectly related to the cost of living, taxes across the board which the blue government has to keep raising to pay for MORE services for MORE people because we are a "Sanctuary City" and nobody is allowed to say it. It goes on and on. I meet people who come here all the time from other parts of the US and from other countries. If they are new, I implore them to leave. If they have been here six plus months, they blow out a tsunami of frustrations and personal/employment/living miseries that they have no idea to improve or get out of. Sorry for the ramble. Unfortunately, though, do to both an employment/personal/and elderly family situation, I just have not been able to leave... another story and believe me, I want out really bad for a long time. I felt exactly like you when I was your age. I am 34 now and wish I followed my own pace. You will regret one day not following and living at your own pace if you don’t do it now. You are SOOOOO super young and the world is your oyster truly. and from your past you know exactly what it means to seize each day. Your perspective is probably a lot different than society’s and your friends’ perspectives that are your age just because of what you’ve been through. But trust me live exactly how you want right now and there is SO much time for you to find your dream job (I know it doesn’t negate the fact that getting rejected from a job sucks!) but you have so much time in your life. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck and I hope you have a wonderful summer! And what’s crazy, you will find the truest friends stay when you go through your roughest points. When I was in a terrible car accident and almost died and had a very long recovery and rehab, some of my best friends visited me a couple times in the aftermath but conveniently faded out of my life (maybe because I could not offer them my same self anymore?) What you went through causes trauma and anxiety and some people aren’t tough enough to be around people that have had their whole world change so fast.

I also graduated back in December, and I applied for a pretty competitive program right off the bat at my university and I just heard back that I was accepted, but I've also had this job that I've been loving and now wondering if I want to change career paths and ugh.... making life decisions can feel so monumental its challenging. LA is somehow not that friendly for a job hunting, I’m actually in the same situation like you and alot of young people with positive energies and goals, honestly been looking for jobs for a month now, millions of applications sent out, interviews went on, and zero responses ever comes out, hope u doin well now, I mean both mental and physical, the right time will come soon

What you say about taking life at your own pace is absolutely right. As we come out of the pandemic (and recovery from illness), it's very easy to get caught up in that "must get up to speed and tick those boxes" whirlwind. You're doing brilliantly, Kam - please cut yourself some slack and trust the right job and people will not pass you by. Sometimes when we take our foot off the gas and just let the universe do its thing, that's when opportunities flow to us. Your channel helped me so much during my HL treatment last year; chemo during lockdown was quite the endurance test and your experiences and joie de vivre really inspired me. Yep, you're a survivor - and a thriver! 😘🌷🌞🌈✨

Kam you should never minimize the cancer journey you were on for two years! I worked as a Certifisd Chld.Life Specialist on a Hematology/Oncology unit and when I worked with the teens and young adults, they would suffer emotionally as theu "thought" they had a great peer support of froends. As their jounery progressed their friend group would continually dimosh and some had 1 or 2 friends that stuck through their journey but most would find themselves without any of their peers for support. Just remember when anyone gets diagnosed and fights for their lives it changes you from the deepest place in your heart and soul! Your world-view is profoundly challenged and changed and you gain an intense self awareness that gives you courage and insight that helps you maneuver through the rest of.your life. You cannot.compare your journey to.your friends , its like comparing apples and oranges. Unfortunately or fortunately, its how you personally view it, you are a warrior who fought long and hard. You've gained strength like no ther. Gods timing is perfect and as we put our faith in Him the things you pursue such as a job, friends, and living place will happen in the perfect time for YOU. Thank you for making this video it honestly couldn’t have come at a better time. I got the all clear in March and I also graduated last year during treatment. I’ve recently been putting so much pressure on myself to get a summer job before I start medical school in the fall and I feel so behind. Thank you for making this feeling less lonely. Survivorship is so hard but you are right what is meant to be will happen❤️

Its not in your head people in CA in general are rude. Also my bf had SUCH a hard time finding a job there! And when he applied back home he got a job right away. We are leaving in a month thank god! i got so stressed out here that I got health problems now but im leaving CA.

I love watching your videos. I found your channel in December 2021 when I got diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I'm so extremely grateful I found your vids before I started chemo. I’m thinking you are being directed to do content for your videos because of the way everything else is going. A circle of true blue friends is going to be very small. Probably less than you can count on one hand. That’s perfectly normal. As for a partner, that’s going to be a really important choice that needs lots of time to cultivate. Usually comes when you aren’t looking and least expect it. Something to never rush. ‘The honeymoon phase’ isn’t just a saying. It’s very important to go all the way through it before totally committing. Do what makes you happy always. You are such an intelligent person who deserves nothing but the best. My wish for you ♥️
LA people don’t have time to be friends. Most of them is focused on job and hustling. It’s just this city attracts such people. It can be toxic environment for someone who has other priorities.
