Why yes, I am kissing a batch of bok choy in the thumbnail. That's what true love looks like. Like these videos? Consider supporting the production at www.patreon.com/cupoftj!
TJ! The bits of the video when you translate speaking with the sellers are my fav! Such a unique addition to travel vlogs that hardly anyone else can do. I always want to ask questions like "How long did these cook" or "How are long are you here?" Keep up the great work girlfriend! -Kara
Oh and a little tip.... adding English or Chinese subtitles will definitely see your channel grow even quicker.... lots of people on my channel use it to study English!
One of my favourite things to do when I go to a new city is to visit their local markets or grocery stores - I think you can learn a lot about the people who live there. This was a fun episode to watch - and I was literally dribbling at the oil rice and rice pudding.
Just watched you and sonny eating beef noodles and now here on your channel eating some stricky rice... I am now heading to my fridge to get something to eat coz i am starving... Great video as always Tj! Love you!
Before watching your videos I never thought I wanted to travel to Asia. But now you convinced me that once it’s safe to travel, I am going to Asia! You’re amazing and so inspiring!
I just randomly landed up here and now am your new fan. Your english and way of talking to camara 👌🏻 too confidant in all ways. Love from India(Tripura) 💜
Last night I was searching for some road trip videos of Norway and I stumbled upon your videos. Those were great and within one day I've completed both Norway and Iceland series. Got weekend's worth of stuff to watch. Thanks a lot for sharing your experiences.
You are so sassy and cute and silly, and that is a major part of your appeal to me! One of these days if ever I go to Taiwan, I gotta try one of these markets--but I suspect I'd need a local to help me navigate it?
You're video are so informative! I love getting a glimpse of a world I will probably never see. And it's cool to know that you once lives here in the SF Bay Area!! I grew up in Oakland and now live in Richmond. Yay Yay! 😎😂
In India we get free complimentary cilantro around 30-40 grams with the veggies we buy. And yes with complimentary chillies as well. 4-5 chillies and cilantro.

From the midwest of US, a bundle of bok choy that consists of 5 at my local asian grocery cost about $3 USD. Its a hit or miss on the size depending on the season, but so far the ones I bought are a bit smaller bok choy due to winter. A bundle of 3 or 4 ginger about the same size as yours cost an average of $2 and garlic bundle of 6 cost an $1. Great video!
Hey great video TJ! Just want to point out, I think those are chives when you mentioned green onions. Prices are definitely cheaper in Taiwan, but you can snag some good deals here in the States if you know where to look. In NY, they have places selling 9 bunched scallions for $2, and that bok choy can be had for $3-4. When I was in Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia, veggies and fruits were slightly cheaper than what you mentioned here. 32L water was 25 cents! I find that knowing the prices of food, and commodities is a good indicator of a nation's economy. Also Taiwan's stinky tofu and beef cube steak are amazing!
Love this, I love to shop at open markets and at local farms and that game swerve you. Faked you so goo you didn't even have chance to really get your hopes up on winning a plushie
That rice pudding looks like a lighter version of the Lo Mai Kai. The Cantonese dim sum... Steam glutinous rice with chicken, sausage & dried mushrooms. And it's called rose apples not wax apples.
Hey there! Just something I noticed Those are chives not green onions you’re comparing to @ 8:50. And they do sell chives in a big bunch like that over here in the states as well. Great vid as always!
Hey TJ! Loved the video....never been to Taiwan bit have been told the markets are amazing! You guys ever going to come to Japan? Come have drinks with me.... Thailand Rob did...lol enjoy your day and thanks for the great video
