I've been a fan of the Life Is Strange series since the episodes were still coming out in 2015, I wanted to share my first time seeing the new gameplay and WOW i was not disappointed.
Yes I'd like to see Chloe again, who wouldn't!? But I'm just happy to have a new LiS game, and even more happy to see Max! Already obsessed with this mystery and want to play more!
I played Life is Strange as a student in 2015, I was exactly the same age as Max. This story touched me very much and remained in my memory. I haven't returned to this game since. But the trailer for the sequel on Xbox Showcase took me back to those days. After all, I literally grew up with Max, as if we were school acquaintances who hadn't seen each other for 10 years. I am happy to see her again and I will definitely buy the game. With love, a simple guy from Russia. P.S. Subscribed to your channel. :)
When watching this gameplay for the first time live, I also was quite critical of the UI. Since True Colours which I loved, the logo and UI have become very minimalist/simplistic. Both True Colours and Double Exposure's logos are practically identical in just being white text - though I'm glad they restored the Polaroid* around "IS". They removed any box around "IS" entirely with TC's logo. *interestingly, I noticed (without needing a photo comparison because I'm just that good 😎) that the Polaroid around "IS" is angled this time around. Wonder what the significance of that is... I do miss the colour, texture and stylistic nature of the original logos and UI, I don't get why they've made them bland. Changing tack, when that seemingly PTSD flashback hit Max, I thought it was actually a foreshadowing vision of the future events of the game, because I didn't recognise that alarm dialogue (still don't. Was it even in LIS1?) But also, it seems like Max's line of "I caused this, I caused all of this" and even (possibly Chloe's) "Max!" seemed different from the original... like they were re-recorded possibly... Which makes me wonder if we get a surprise flashback to the end of the first game, remade in the new engine with the new graphics and animations. And that what plays out during it will depend on what you select as the ending you picked... imagine they went to the effort of creating some scenes of post-LIS depending on what ending you picked: a scene at Blackwell Academy/Arcadia Bay, and a scene somewhere away from a destroyed Arcadia Bay. But that's all a theory... A GAME THEORY! 🤓 **btw, maybe people just have different views on what "art style" is, but I don't believe at all LIS has changed their art style since the first games, just the graphical quality, animations and engine have improved (graphical style, if that's different? Certainly graphics and art style aren't the same thing.) Like it's still very artsy with its textures and whatnot - if I recall, True Colours kept the "photos of people are depicted in an artsy, minimal detail comparatively" fashion. Maybe you could certainly argue they changed the art style with character's textures not reflecting that of something obviously painted with paint streaks that I'msure were on purpose with the first games, but I think the rest of the game with architecture and stuff still reflects that style, but just not as obvious (because of the better graphics). I mean, just look at those scenic shots of the iconic "Moments of Calm" (can't remember what they're called in TC), they definitely look very artsy. I'm totally getting this game at Christmas - which will be perfect given it seems to be set at Christmas :D though I loved True Colours unexpectedly, I do hope this one is somewhat longer, and more impactful story-wise. Have "bad endings", maybe lead a little to potential devastation again because of the newer strain of her power (as some people have noted, I think those comments about the meteor and the end of the world may end up being significant).*** ***(writing this after i posted this) just noticed as well that meteor is present on the cover art. And of course with the ending of the gameplay (which is likely ending of episode 1), this seems very likely significant.
Good point about the polaroid in the logo I didn't even notice that! That part with the "flashbacks" or possibly future visions defnitely sounds rerecorded and listening to it back although it sounds like Chloe's "MAX!" from the first game it could also be Safi? When I said it was from ep 5 I was mainly talking about the "MAX!" and then Max's line about this being her fault, not sure about the other sounds. And also I hear what you're talking about when it comes to the "at style" discussion. When I was talking about it I was talking about the painted on look that the environment and objects had to them. But I love the theories, my mind is running a million miles a minute, I CANNOT wait for this game!
@@brentagames1322 just found out where the emergency broadcast system dialogue is from - it's on the radio when you enter the diner in Episode 5, and get this - it is most definitely re-recorded, because it's a completely different guy saying it and delivered very differently. Maybe it was just re-recorded because they couldn't use the original because they didn't make the first game, but maybe... 👀
Is it not Tradition that the daughter takes moms first name as her middle name? maybe not all the time but most times? Then Max's full name might Be Maxine Vanessa Caulfield? Just something in my mind, I guess.
You know those are real action animation, right? Real actors are covered in electrodes... "Alita: Battle Angel" did it, "LIS:True Colors", "Detroit: Becoming Human" and many more games and movies use the technology.
