Content creators are so unfair when it comes to RU-vid and the fact that “it doesn’t pay as much as other platforms” like you wouldn’t have the impact of other platforms if it wasn’t for RU-vid. Please remember that.
I’m not taking that away but I have worked so hard to be here. I put in the time and the effort. I didn’t sit around and wait for people to subscribe. But I still appreciate everyone and acknowledge the difference they’ve made in my life. It’s a lot that someone give me 30-45 minutes of their lives but let’s not forget that I’m also playing my part. You say content creators are unfair? How so? Are you saying I’m not allowed to give RU-vid a break and try to grow myself elsewhere? If I feel it’s not good for my mental health I should just keep going because I’m afraid of coming across as an unfair content creator? My feelings with regards to being here shouldn’t matter? My bills don’t matter? My mental health doesn’t matter? One thing I will do is do anything and everything to be able to show up as the best version of myself to my husband and kids. To my family. To my friends. To my subscribers that really love and appreciate me, those that are here for the right reasons. I love y’all so much on here but it’s these kinds of comments that make me feel like it doesn’t matter to some people how I am doing..as long as they’re getting the content they “deserve”. I might not be doing this for the money but please don’t confuse it for me being naive and taking up all my time and using it on here where I feel I don’t make much financially and neglect making a living for myself and my family where I could potentially make a decent income. As much as I love this platform I still need to live, my bills aren’t gonna be paid by caring if I’m being unfair or not. I see where you're coming from and agree that RU-vid has indeed helped a lot of creators get noticed and build their audience, but creators must not put their eggs in one basket but rather look at different places, not just RU-vid, to share their work and make a living. However, it's also important to recognise the challenges around earning potential on the platform as most brands put their money towards short-form content, which is why they lean towards IG and TikTok. I think its thoughtful that Kgomotso shared her plans with us, showing consideration for her audience instead of suddenly leaving or not being consistent anymore because we will be the very same ones to complain.
