since he asked about our day ima talk about it even if he never sees this- I went axe and knife throwing the past weekend. I started another still life painting, trying a new style of it too versus just exact realism yk, and I’ve been doing school from my grandmas house w cats.

Wow i genuinely enjoyed this vlog so much! It felt like i was spending the day with a friend! I can see a lot of similarities in our lives at the moment and its kind of freaking me out a little lol. Maybe this is also a tmi but you asked, anyway I'm a first year at the university of Pretoria in South Africa but because of covid its all online so i'm home 24/7, I'm studying multimedia and i think it would be a course you'd possibly enjoy, we're learning animation, web design and game development ... we even made a comic for our final practical exam for one of our modules so it's very diverse, i definitely prefer the more creative aspects to the degree but i find the programming side also quite enjoyable because it stimulates the right side of my brain, it also widens your skill set is a lot more than doing a pure art/design degree since i wanted to keep my possibilities as open as possible. But it's a little amusing for me to see that your routine is somewhat similar to mine, like learning animation/studying while still trying to balance art, yesterday was the first day i actually went to go sit outside in the sun in i think like four days, i tried to learn how to play the piano two months ago in our winter holiday but i hardly have any extra time anymore, so it's nice to see you trying to learn the guitar, your skills have already improved so much in such a short period of time! It gave me a little hope and inspiration to continue learning piano as well :D Also thanks for the zumba idea! I used to love playing Just Dance so i think i might try this to be more active :) I really enjoyed the vlog so definitely don't stop please! (but also remember to take some deserved breaks so you don't become too stressed or burnout, health is more important than work i've found :) )

Since you asked about my day, it went ok. My bird died that I had since I was four, so I was bummed out. But.. my school is going great! The virtual was really hard at first but I think I'm starting to get the hang of it 😅. I hope your week is going well. I loved your explanation of underpaintings -- I learned about doing them a few years ago in an art class, and I've been doing them ever since. They can really influence the vibe of the painting! I'm also going through the college admissions process atm, and it's been wild. Unfortunately I'm not applying to any art schools, but I'm hoping that I'll be able to take some drawing/painting courses wherever I go! :)

Your videos inspire me so much. I am 17, and I am going to major in communications/journalism next year if I get accepted to my dream university. I wanted to major in studio art, but so many people told me I would be homeless and the cliche starving artist 🙄

I recommend a really tall chair like a barstool when working at the easel. It will do wonders for your posture. One of the few things I took away from art school hahaha

Quarantine has been kicking my butt in terms of motivation for doing art and work in general, but I have found that I really like gouache so hopefully I get out of my art rut soon lol

i really like this type of video i really like watching your improvement of playing guitar and how u didnt let the fails make u lose confidence in trying to learn it im a bit stressed about going into college because the school i want to go to is very professional with music and i just feel like im not ready for that yet im trying to wait until im out of high school to really trying to getting better at guitar because high is taking up a lot of my time then i might go into college after working for a bit i just hope everything goes well because i really want to start professionally making music

Tip on guitar: when your fingers hurt they won’t get stronger you may get use to it but if you lightly put ur fingers on the cord your playing and pull back with your arm muscles it helps a lot

Back in my day I applied to SCAD, MICA, and SAIC. Got into all but none of the scholarships were enough to justify it. Thus I decided not to apply to RISD, CalArts or (Chile idk) Yale. So, I hope RU-vid and selling your art can afford you an education at one of the lovely schools on your list :)

I wish you went to my school 😢. It sucked but we had an animation class and made video games from scratch. It was pretty awesome. I wasn’t too big into animation though so I did the 3D modeling part of the game.

Man I really envy you because I was just like you after graduating and I wanted so much to be an animator (actually still want) and go to a cool school. I really applied to my dream university waiting nothing. But then I failed and just wanted to take a gap year to improve my skills and try again while my parents were like "hell no, go study, whatever". So I still study linguistics, it’s my 2 year although I have never even been thinking of a translator career or anything like this and I’m very confused by this whole deal. I guess I really regret it if I have so many flashbacks watching your videos lol Also applying to universities is just a pain in the ass so good luck!

Man the moment you paint and talk I really feel you are talking to me .it's weird and beautiful

Another tip/trick to open tough paint tubes is to use an old rag like a towel or wash cloth. The texture of the material makes it easier to grip the ridges of a paint cap for better leverage. I hope this tip works for you if you see it :)

I’m not sure where exactly they’re sold, but I’ve found these rubber pads that you can use to open paints (or any bottle or jar that’s hard to open with just your hands) that don’t tear open your skin and don’t require hot water! Keep an eye out for them, they’re great to keep around. Edit: you can find them on Amazon by searching “rubber jar gripper” or “rubber jar opener” and they’re relatively cheap

When my guitar buzzes it's usually cause I'm not pressing hard enough on the string or cause I'm touching another string or it could also be because you're too far from the fret. Maybe these are happening to you too just wanted to let you know :)
