Well this was an interesting one. My friend's car unfortunately was suffering from uneven brake disc wear. We inspected his brakes and thought that it was just his brake runner that was at fault, which caused the uneven wear, but little do we know... watch the video to find out!

never checked the pivot joint where brake cable goes on or lubrication,very common to sieze up on these,retaing clips have pulled through the rusty back plates thats why shoes have pulled off but no repair made ?

Just i tip spraying the piston dust cover with WD 40 helps when winding back the piston

Just replace the complete driveshaft for what it's worth, usually the CV joints corrode so much that a new ABS ring will not sit on it snugly enough so you'll end up needing a new driveshaft anyway

@@sammytheseal2307 Cheers Sammy.... the price difference between just the ring and a new driveshaft though kind of demands that I at least try it. If it's too loose, I believe there is some kind of PVA-based sealant you can get to try to keep it in place. If it's too tight, I think I just have me some more grinding to do 😉 I may end up with the new driveshaft, but it would be my last resort I'm thinking. That said, it's not a job I've actually done before

why do you not put a small amount of copperslip or grease on thw ears and back plates of the pads?

I do not use and metal based grease on brakes. I only use what’s recommended, sometimes with, sometimes without. A lot of debate online about it but everyone disagrees with any metal-based grease

Bro really need a mask when cleaning them brakes that break dust is deadly and holding your breath is not going to help i know i done that in the early days

I’ve been in his car at least 4-5x prior to carrying out this job 😂 Didn’t notice anything all, not even excess heat coming from that area. I don’t know how we/he got so lucky 😂

Very odd wear “pattern” on those rear discs!!! Same as mine on 10yr old VW Golf at 39,000 miles. Had to replace owing to corrosion (not wear)! Great video! Great channel!

Love the Halfords advanced, got all Mac tools every size and length, however I will say this. That 1/2 Halfords ratchet I have had 1.5m scaffolding on it and me at 18stone on it before it broke... Halfords advanced is epic. Never had any warranty issues either

No point of bringing expensive Snap Ons when mobile. That things gets rained on, it’s game over. Halfords on the other hand, I can easily just walk in and get it replaced anytime and anywhere 😂
