Pro tip hack: There's a revolutionary piece of tech that can help detect Trams and other oncoming traffic: It's called a Side Mirror. And all cars are equipped with at least 2.
@@Pomeranc470 its more for when they hit a real person and kill them, causing a crash could be traumatic for a driver in general, but they've probably seen everything by now.
As a tram driver, it's not easy to be involved in such accidents..... It's traumatizing even just a near miss.... We have to compose ourselves immediately before resuming movement.
Nothing else they can do, a friend of mine who works the coal trains told me once “if there’s something on the tracks all you can do is slam on the emergency breaks, blast the horn, close your eyes and hope you don’t feel a hit” a fully laden coal train has a 2+ km stopping distance when it’s cruising along open track.
Was soll er denn sonst machen? Ich bin Lokführer und kenne diese Situationen sehr gut. In diesem Moment weisst du ein paar Sekunden vorher: Ok, jetzt ist es soweit! Ab dann funktionierst du nur noch. Jeder Schritt danach ist genau geschult.
I mean they are basically in an armoured tank that can't deviate from its path. You gotta just accept the fate of the idiots thinking they can make it 🤷♀️
I mean, it can't be the tram driver's fault unless they break a light, they're on tracks! It's people driving cars who turn into them or get on the tracks. A tram is 10 to 20 times heavier than a car. It's no contest.
@@kat.nicolette Was adding a comment in support of your post, which I also gave the thumbs up, not arguing with it. But I suppose a lot of people do like to argue on the Internet, so it's easy to get on the defensive.
They have to prepare themselves for the drivers antics. They also have to make mental notes for the situation report they would undoubtedly have to write up at the end of their shift.
It's amazing how many people don't do shoulder checks or even look in their mirrors before making a move. Clearly they should be forced to do their driving test again to get their licence back. That is if the tram hasn't made a pancake out of them.
Many people aren't like us. They don't feel the urge to look before they are going places. Stuff is just going slower in their heads. Some also don't care and think they own road, therefore others will wait and let them pass.
The one that struck me(pun intended) was the idiot kid with the skateboard, who was clearly about to cross a rail and didn’t bother to look to see if anything was coming, at this point some of these are just a form of natural selection at work.
Only suicidal people would deliberately crash into a tram. By trying to beat a tram you're literally risking your life. Luckily everyone in this video survived with the only injuries being at 0:39 and 1:51 (they were minor by the way)
I remember being on a Birmingham tram one day. Some idiot driver decided to pull out in front of the tram and the driver slammed his brakes on. Luckily there was no accident, just some whiplash. The driver got out of the cab to ask if everyone was alright before carrying on to Edgbaston Village.
The tram operator is never going to be able to prevent harm once someone's had the bright idea to go in front of the tram. All they can do is mitigate harm, and they well know it. Can you imagine how nerve-shredding it must be to watch a child running onto the rails and knowing you're helpless to protect them, but can only do your best to make sure they don't die? Hoping a lost leg is the best outcome? Fuck.
Love the last one, she froze a second thinking : "Great, now I have to get out and deal with stupidity." She needed a moment to mentally prepare for that.
They do brake if you watch them pull the lever back. But the distance for a tram to stop is way longer than a car. It's insane how people got no respect for a 50ton vehicle coming at them.
Im a LRV operator in states believe me it harded than it operate than it looks. So much stress and what ifs. Does any one know if we open the doors on the wrong side of rhe tram by mistake that grounds for dismissal., as well as, derailing, breaking the interlock on the alignment, striking a pedestrian, car door or fixed object. Extremely stressful or being a min late for report time. Or a min early on the alignment. Its hell
hitting fools in cars, i'm fine with that. they have some protection, they'll likely have some owies but they still have a metal cage around them with some glorified inflatable pillows.... but 0:36 I hope the driver was fine.... same with 1:21.... I'd give her a hug because it looks like she would need it....
well compared to the two videos of prague tram drivers these are rather brutal and always end up in crash.. whereas the prague videos are only almost crash.. seems like prague tram drivers are bit more cautious.. or better trained from daily shit happens..
@@meenakshibhattacharya4579 Well I think his point is the fact that it's almost impossible for cars to get on metro tracks, which may prove beneficial for the drivers in this video.
