Me too, I had the entire show on VHS. I live in Norway and I was always scared of bears when walking in the woods after watching this show. There are bears here. When I started hunting, I was still scared of bears. So I bought a shotgun that also had a rifle barrel. It had 3 barrels, 2 shotgun barrels and 1 rifle barrel. And old gun from the 1940's. I felt more safe in the woods with a rifle barrel also, in case I would be attacked by a bear. Luckaly it has never happened, yet.

he was mortal after all, the size of that bear tho can be considered to be enormous, immense, huge, vast, gigantic, colossal, mammoth, and much more.

Hell, combine might of big carnivore dinosaurs (from Jurassic Park/Jurassic World saga) against hulking bear would be legendary.

That is apparently the reason for his gargantuan size at the final battle.

Pretty much. The bullet didn't kill him, but drove him mad. He was no ordinary bear; he was a monster that had to be stopped.

Or a remake. And this time they could have Akakabuto with a voice actor (he speaks in the manga).

It doesn't matter to me. You are my prey either way. 3. All those who trespass into my domain pay the ultimate price; DEATH! 4. Are you ready to die, boy? (talking to Gin) 5. You're no match for me, human! You're just a weak old man waiting to be put out of your misery! 6. You will all die... LIKE THE DOGS YOU ARE! 7. DIE!!! 8. All tremble at the very mention of my name for good reason. I am no ordinary bear; I am a demon who is out for your blood! 9. Hah hah hah hah! Taste my wrath! 10. UGH! N-no! Impossible! (after being defeated)

Yeah, Akakabuto first attacked cattle but not long after he started to attack humans who were traveling along the mountains. And after the brain damage, he became even more aggressive, and even killed two hunters when they were inside their cabin, by busting through the wall and brutally maiming them
