did anyone else notice that Richard Parker's name was initially supposed to be Thirsty, and when Pi enters the church for the first time the priest says 'You are Thirsty'.

Richard Parker was the hunter who sold the tiger to the zoo, and they mixed up the papers and the tiger ended up with the hunter's name. I saw the movie today, and it is pretty awesome :)

Love this movie....singapore shows it twice ....its makes me cry to see Richard Parker go into the jungle forever....an amazing story line....worth watching 😢😢😢👍👍👍❤❤❤

i was really amaze when i saw their visual effects specially in the Tiger (Richard Parker) but i was little just little disappoint in the last part of the movie when Richard Parker leave Pi the visual effect were not have done perfect because the "computerized" effect were pretty obvious. and i cannot control my self to compare it to the movie "Narnia" in which they use the same thing. both uses Computerize effect on the animal, but Aslan even his a lion the effect were perfectly done..

Could the tiger represent religion ? As a child you are taught to fear it, its gets into your boat by accident. You are not sure whether you are better in the boat with it or try to escape, maybe a time in your life you manage to exclude it but it gets back in and eats all your food and energy, then you see lots of aspects of it, when seen as an organic human creation you finally tame it, it finally becomes irrelevant and leaves / is forgotten. It served a purpose in history but no more

I think the tiger is probably a more accurate representation of fear itself. IT seems large, fearless and daunting, it clearly is out to serve its own purpose separate from that of its beholder... eventually it becomes incorporated into ones life... inseparable. although I haven't seen the pilot for this series... any good? I mean is it any good as entertainment... I try not to get life values from TV... lol
