It's not an accident that I stumbled upon this video this morning. I was riding the bus and a man boarded without paying and marched right to the back of the vehicle. The driver called out to him and the man ignored him. A fellow passenger tried to get his attention, at which point the man started swearing at him and threatened him with violence. He was either unstable or extremely angry or both. My protective nature fired up and I was about to intervene, but there was no actual action taken by the man. I thought about "getting into it" with this troublemaker...thankfully, my better angels took over: Partly because I'm leaving for Dallas tomorrow morning and I don't want the trouble, and partly because I realized that this is HIS movie. I'll just be a spectator on this one. Peter, I used to be rabid road rager: extremely angry and self-righteous. After my massive breakthrough at the Landmark Forum, i literally had an intant transformation on the drive home. I realized in the breakthrough moment that I had been carrying anger for 30 years -- anger at the bullying I received in high school, following a severe brain injury. Bullying that had me attempt suicide twice that year, once in front of my classmates. Although I'm not currently driving, I have vowed to look at everyone from a space of love and compassion. We don't know what is happening in that man's life -- the one on the bus -- such that he needs to express anger and self-righteousness and ingest substances. Thank you for your constant inspiration, Peter. I look forward to many more modules in USM!
