Life Sentences, a documentary produced by the Pennsylvania Prison Society in 1988. Features Sharon "Peachie" Wiggins and Diane Metzger at SCI Mucny and several men at SCI Graterford. While this film documents the political nature of commutation in 1988, the situation remains the same in 2013.
Sharon Wiggins died in her cell at the age of 62, not alone, but with her close friend and cellmate Naomi Blount at her side. She continues to be the world's longest serving woman sentenced to life without parole as a juvenile.

Sharon "Peachie" Wiggins died on March 24, 2013, the longest serving female juvenile serving life without parole in the world. She died in her 44th year of incarceration at the age of 62. It was a grave injustice by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

is she the lady of color in the yellow shirt that speaks in this video? If so I can hear in her voice pain and saddness. RIP the United States is so harsh on sentencing espically with non violent crimes, I'm so tired of these politics, law makers and people with badges thinking they have some godly power over everyone and can determine people's fate for their lifes. I'm not saying free everyone because some people need to be in prison, but I was watching this show where this woman has natural lofe with no parole for conspiracy to deliver drugs and no drugs were found on her or in video surveillance and she has natural life. The sad part about it to me is most of the people in office and law are bigger criminals than your average citizen going to prison for weed, theft, child support or whatever other non violent crime. God bless let's all pray for this country because the power of prayer is a powerful thing. God is good all the time!!!

My momm was raped and killed by a 19 year old, I don't think it would be fair for that scumbag to get out at the age of 44 and live happily ever after. Think God we live in the US, where we actually punish scumbags.

So few women have received commutation from a life sentence in PA because I believe the PA Board of Pardons, over the years, has demonstrated an extreme deficit of willingness to extend mercy to women and men because of the fear of killing their own political careers.

U shouldn't serve a lifetime of imprisonment.. man its hard to tell i would hate to b a juror in a murder trial

What I disagree with is that they let out nonces early when in reality they should be in prison for life never to darken any one doors ever again If you kill some one in self defense or person abusing or beating crap out of youthats different because you are fighting for your life

So Pennsylvania pretty much the only ones following through with LIFE sentences. U pay for ur crime with the rest of ur life. Even if u get out u still on parole for the rest of ur life. It should be like this everywhere

If you kill, you need to spent the rest of your worthless life in prison and no second chance. Sorry, but if you don't want to do the time just don't kill. The person who was killed is dead forever.

Mirquella Santos what u dont understand that in pa you dont even have to kill someone to spend the rest of your life in prison. you only have to be present when a murder takes place. not even present but even in a car when someone your with goes in and commits murder. you knew nothing about it or even saw it but you spend the rest of your life in prison

The penalty for murder(unlawful killing with malice and forethought) should be death...I cannot feel any sympathy for a murderer who has already been spared the ultimate sentence and allowed to live a long life free of the responsibilities of room and board and with the opportunity to learn and laugh and grow as a person , while their innocent victims rot in the ground and families mourn for generations. Without hatred I say...she got more mercy than her victim.
