Wayne Goss. As I was listening to Mel, I thought of you. I thought of the terrible times you’ve had in the past couple of years. I thought, I’m going to message Wayne on his latest RU-vid post, just to ask him to look at Mel’s post, and be his utterly lovely self. I should have known better. You’re a lovely man, who is always there for his friends. Of course you were here before me. Of course you said exactly the right thing, because you’re you! Mel, you too are a wonderful person. I’m so sorry to hear you are currently struggling so badly. All I can tell you is that Wayne has said it all. I’m sending so much love both your way. This isn’t about me, but I will just tell you both that ‘this too shall pass’. I know this because I’m old...57. I’ve lost a child; I’m currently living with MS... and now metaplastic triple negative breast cancer; my husband has just survived 22 days in a coma with Covid. I’m not telling you both these things to seek attention. I’m telling you because the one thing that (almost) broke me was work related bullying. Not my child’s death (over 30 years ago), not my ill health, not my husband’s coma; a mental health issue. People do not generally understand the strength we have in our survival. You’re both amazing, you’re both brave, strong and beautiful people, both inside and out. You are both survivors. I love you both. This sounds pathetic, because you are both famous and wonderful, whilst I’m a late middle aged, retired old teacher. But I’m here for you Mel, I’m here for you Wayne. ❤️ xxxx ❤️

This video leads me to believe that she was already feeling her death coming. It breaks my heart. I literally cried. How could some peoples be so harsh with someone who is asking for help?! Wow!... She was so strong to bear all this inside her and still create content that makes others happy... This is why we MUST treat ALL people with love and especially respect. We never know what others are going through. We might be killing them even more with awful comments. PLEASE BE AWARE OF YOUR WORDS AND TONE OF VOICE WITH OTHERS AT ALL TIMES. RIP Mel.. Thank you for allowing us to see inside of you so openly. You were so brave to do so. So beautiful and admirable. 🙏😞

I died in December. I obviously was brought back. But for about 6 months before I died, I absolutely felt it coming. I even had a dream that I wrote down (I just found it on my journal like 2 weeks ago) where I basically saw my death. I didn't realize that's what was happening at the time though, and didn't even remember that dream. But there was definitely a sense that it was coming, now that I can look back on it. I've always related with Mel because I also have EDS and POTS, and we're both moms. I'm just so sad. 😔

The way Doctors disregard womens pain is something that NEEDS to change. Both female & male doctors tend to disregard women’s pain & it’s honestly shocking how much things like “heart attacks, etc” show up differently for women vs men. Like Doctors need to EVOLVE & CHANGE! The fact their biases of tattoos have left Mel and other ppl in pain just because of their tattoos (or black women & men’s pain being disregarded) Because they think they want DR*GS and not medical help is disgusting! I’m so so sorry Mel, she’s soo kind and sooo sweet yet everyone in the medical field ignored her cries for help.

Absolutely right. I’m a burn victim. My back is full of scars that are deep and damaged tissues but they told me to go to a methadone clinic if I need strong medication. It’s been 13 years since my accident and I tried so many things. Just like Mel described here I stopped going to the ER because they just disregard me. My „attacks“ usually last an hour. I freeze, shiver and shake. Then usually for days have to stay on broth because my stomach hurts. It’s the deep nerve damage . My son was stillborn after medical mistake. They gave me wrong medication and the doctor didn’t even believe me how bad I felt until I started going into seizures. The cord ripped because it was so bad. I will always remember that feeling and them not believing me, still trying to calm me down because I’m just emotional and then I collapsed.. I wonder how hard it was for her and how left alone she felt by Doctors if she didn’t go to them for severe attacks…

Sadly the way she was treated is typical for most EDS patients. We go through a long list of doctors and specialist before being diagnosed and cared for properly. It’s a CRIME what they do and say to us. Finding the right knowledgeable doctor means the most and saves lives. I’m saddened by her loss of life. She could’ve been saved no matter what the cause was of her death it was preventable. 😢

@@lebalori the medical community is responsible for this young woman's death, regardless of what killed her. Doctors, other medical staff and mental health professionals are gradually losing their humanity and running on ego and hubris. She ultimately did not get what she needed, in time, and she is not alone. Right now, patients are being turned away, dismissed and disregarded, because doctors are overwhelmed, because doctors will not prescribe pain meds, because anxiety can look like drug use, seizures can look like intoxication, and because no one is really looking or listening. I'm broken hearted, of course. More than that I am angry. No one needs to suffer in this manner. No one.

Let’s eliminate the thinking that “you shouldn’t complain because there’s always someone else who has it worse.” This invalidates your experience, your pain, and associates guilt/shame with having your own difficulties, thus making it even harder to reach out for help. You bring joy to many people daily through this platform, and sharing your struggles only further extends the positive impact you are making in other’s lives. There is no doubt someone needed to hear this part of your story today, to give them strength, hope, and guidance. The reality of her life when this was filmed speaks volumes today. How tragic such a young woman so full of life, had such a will to live yet life still took her too soon. I just have to say something else, I have to. My beautiful Mom just passed this October. She was so excited about Christmas, I have no siblings, she has been my life. She had chronic pain-but before that at the age of 54, she kept going to her dr saying something is wrong, I have indigestion, I have chest pain…after the third time of being dismissed-the dr said “if it’s so bad go to the hospital!” She did, she was air evacuated and was having a heart attack, and she got stints in her heart. Doctors PLEASE LISTEN TO YOUR PATIENTS! The doctor apologized to her, but had it been left to him she would’ve died sooner than she did. My mom was in her late 60s. God this just infuriates me! When someone has pain, BELIEVE THEM! 😭😡

I am sending you so much love, Mel. I am a psychologist and also have diagnosed depression, anxiety and some PTSD. The other day, I had a panic attack due to feeling overwhelmed!! I initially struggled because I thought “I’m supposed to have it together!!! I’m a therapist, dammit!!” But, I realize that my own experiences and history allow me to relate even more to my clients. Sharing this must have been incredibly scary and painful for you. Your vulnerability and transparency is already helping so many and helping to diminish some of the stigma of talking about mental health and seeking help. It’s definitely easy to invalidate ourselves because other people have it worse. That’s just a truth of like: some of us have it worse. Unfortunately, mental health disorders don’t differentiate or give a shit about who we are. Your feelings, struggles, and symptoms are all valid. Plus, thinking that others have it worse is honestly part of the depression spiral. It tries to convince you that you “shouldn’t” be feeling the way you are. I encourage myself, my friends, my colleagues and my patients to “stop shoulding all over yourself.” Here if you need me ❤️❤️💋💋

I'm so sorry to hear about your seizures and fear. The anxiety etc makes perfect sense though. It would be a constant fear that sits on your shoulder taunting you wherever you go. Have you looked into meditation at all? People can laugh or whatever but there's much to be said about natural therapies and remedies. I know that because I've been all about that since I was 19 years old. I myself use calming essential oils in diffusers, on pressure points and wear a bracelet and necklace with the porous volcanic beads strategically placed in amongst the other beads. The oils soak into the volcanic beads. My daughter has horrendous anxiety and panic attacks so I bought her a hand held portable diffuser. She puts the anxiety blend in there so she can get it out as soon as she starts feeling anxious. Do you think there's any chance that high stress, anxiety and fearfulness potentially bring on seizures? Probably not but I think it's a valid question. xxx

Your nightly anxiety sweats sound like my menopausal night sweats so it's important to sort them out. Some advice which is going to be much harder to put in practice than it sounds, is that seizures are made worse by stress and lack of sleep, even if it's not epilepsy. If you can, try to practice your pilates at home (try to avoid driving until your condition is diagnosed and controlled) , take more walks, or just sit in the sun, if you can do mindfulness great (my anxiety is too bad to slow my mind down enough 😆), and STOP DOING AS MANY RU-vid VIDEOS! Play with your makeup yes, but not at the expense of your health. Try to stick to a routine a much as you can and keep a symptom diary too. YOU are the most important person here. Once you're sorted, which might take a while and life adjustments, come back full on, but cut it back for now. Big love to you ❤ 💕 💙

Hey, Mel. I wanna tell you, I’m a nurse, AND I suffer from anxiety and depression. I’m not going to be THAT person and give you medical advice, but I wanted to tell you a few other things: 1) Your feelings are VALID. If you’re angry or scared or sad, it is OKAY to feel those things, and it is okay to tell people that are upsetting you that they are being jerks. Just because someone “has it worse” does NOT mean you do not matter and that your struggles don’t affect you. 2) Please advocate for yourself as much as you can with your health. The most important thing I’ve learned as a healthcare professional is that you know your body best. If you think something isn’t right, tell the doctors. If they blow you off, INSIST on investigation. If they still don’t listen, go elsewhere for care. I know you’re incredibly sweet and considerate and don’t want to cause a fuss, but again, your concerns are valid. 3) Your mental health conditions are NOTHING to be ashamed of. You wouldn’t be ashamed to have high blood pressure or diabetes, right? It’s an illness. Just like any other illness, there are varying degrees of illness. Medication works for some people. Other modalities work for other people. Sadly, sometimes nothing works. I know some people just don’t “get” it and never will, but those people are ignorant, and it’s not YOU being a drama queen or crazy or anything like that. 4) We all love you here. You’re a bright light in the beauty community and the RU-vid community in general. I know this is an outlet for you to express creativity and interact with more people, but if you need to take a small break or a big break, please do so. Whatever you need! We’re going to be here for you when you get back if that’s the case. 5) Thank you for speaking up about mental illness. It’s so hard because the depression itself makes you think you need to keep it secret. It LIES, and it strips away so many things that make us “us”. It is my hope that the more people speak out and explain what mental illness is and is NOT that we all can get a better understanding of this horrible condition. 6) Just this: I don’t pity you, but I have empathy for what you are experiencing. I wish you nothing but the best, and I hope you get the answers you need to live the fullest life you can.

@@rondameier8168 I agree. There are a lot of things about living with fibro I hate...like having to deal with the brain fog - not being able to string a sentence together etc. I hate having to deal with debilitating fatigue - one minute I'm fine then one minute later, I'm not. I'm too freaking exhausted to get up and to walk to the bathroom for a pee. I do find it hard to breathe because my chest muscles are too tired. I don't like the fact I will have a sleep disorder for the rest of my life because of fibromyalgia. If I don't take my medicine every day, I know I will scream being in pain 24/7. Yup. I also deal with neuropathic pain. It sucks but it is what it is. Oh, I almost forget about costochondritis...not being able to breathe is a bitch! People, please don't take your sleep for granted. :)

I'm so sorry, Mel. When you first published this video, I was going through my own traumas and didn't finish watching it. Scrolling through your videos now, I realized I hadn't watched this one all the way through....and I am so heartbroken for you. The physical and mental anguish you were facing was monumental. I hope you found some answers to your medical issues before you passed and found a way to deal with your anxiety and depression. I would hate to think you faced fear everyday of waking over the last 6 months. That makes my heart break even more 💔 I hope you many moments of joy and happiness before your passing and that you found a way to relinquish the fear that pain and death placed on your shoulders. I keep thinking of that diary you had under lock and key, and I hope at the end you were able to share you deepest secrets and private thoughts with someone you trusted. I hope you felt safe and loved. I wish you were still here. You deserved a long and happy life, spreading your enthusiasm and positive energy into the world. I'm reminded of the show the Good Place...in the end, the energy of the departed, who finally found peace in the unknown, went out into the universe and was disseminated over the living. It's a beautiful thought that you are still with us. I truly hope you are at peace. Rest in Power, Beautiful Mel. I will never forget you. 🙏🕊🕊🕊

As an Emerg nurse I can totally see exactly what you experienced & I'm sorry you were presumed to have been using drugs, or "its all in your head". I lost my mom in February and when I came back to RU-vid, I found myself apologizing over and over (noticed it in my editing) in my first video back. I did it again in the next couple videos and I FINALLY said "I know I don't need to apologize for taking time off after my mom dying, but I feel like I let people down if I don't post". The pressure we put on ourselves is ridiculous! Take time for you, make your healing a priority. It was hard for me, but I'm getting better at it. And lastly, as was said, stop apologizing! We all just want you to take care of yourself and be ok. 💜💜💜

I'd never heard of this lovely woman before seeing the notice of her death, and had my curiosity piqued from something in it to try to learn something about her. Her bravery and determination to live as fully and freely as possible were apparently always a part of how she approached her life, in spite of having what seems to have been a string of unusual physical conditions. In this heartbreaking video, Mel talks about the hereditary nature of what she and her mother have endured. I believe I read in the news article that she has four children, and wonder if they are being monitored. I hope that whatever led to Mel's death at this point took her from enduring any more or worse suffering.
