This is my favorite video you have posted to date. I really enjoyed the deep talk. I can imagine how hard being in an international relationship is especially when both of your families are in different parts of the world. Keep pushing Ben.
You're not a bad son, you must be a great son to great parents. I think it shows great character when parents support their child following the path they choose for themselves. Good for you, Ben, you've got nothing to justify as far as I'm concerned. Good luck with everything.
I also would like to see more korean food on the channel. Korean food always look good to eat and love when others share their local cuisines. but thats up to you.
Yo San Diego local here! If you can stand the heat in Southeast Asia you’ll survive here LOLOL. It’s really not bad 80% of the year! We have the best weather. Good food and beaches here too and you can afford to live here as a RU-vidr. Try it for a year. It’s not like you have to commit here forever. Thanks for the life update!! My favorite videos from ya!
Its lovely to see a yonger person planning their life ❤ Mine hasnt gone in the way I'd have hoped and now wont be having anyone else along for my journey. But it doesn't take the happiness out of seeing other people able to do this! Build that house Ben with your lovely future wife! Go with what feels right and makes sense. So much luck to you both. 🙏
You’re like an honorary big brother ben. my lil brother and i would and still do watch your videos for years and no matter what we going through we can count on you to make our meal and day mighty fine! appreciate you
Ben i’ve been following for so long now, and that final bit of the video made me tear up. thank you man, for giving me that same confidence ❤️this the reason why you the GOAT🐐
First off, no cheese is wild. Secondly, the US is just too damn expensive, and as a college student, it doesn’t help at all. Lastly, check out Washington and Minnesota-you can get acres of land for cheap, build your own house, and still be close enough to a big city. At least in Minnesota; I’m not sure about Washington.
It depends on what part of Washington. Things get exponentially more expensive the more inland Washington you go because of Seattle causing prices to go up in the cities and towns around it to go up. I live in Seattle and I feel like im constantly gouging my bank account just to eat lunch
Consider the healthcare costs between Korea and America. Also, even if you're a homebody, weigh in the politics in the big metro cities. Chicago is not in a good spot. My suggestion is to have your child born in Chicago for birthright citizenship reasons and settle in Korea. The desire to relocate to America would have to be so great that it would be worth it. America is a country divided. Politics are unavoidable. If living costs and weather is a factor, consider Kansas City. The numbers dont lie. If Korea has a better safety net, then settle there. In America, safety nets are eroding based on policies from the duopoly in government. Best wishes.
Wow I've never seen anything like this!!! What an absolute insight into the immigration mindset..... reminder to make sure I show everyone I know the screenshot I just took. Disgusting people....
Deliver baby and peace out? What kind of "citizen" is that exactly? Birthright citizenship is ridiculous. Most countries, including Korea agree. A true citizen lives in the country and supports and nourishes it from within.
People always seem to go too far with the parasocial stuff, suggesting you live your life a certain way based on their ideals and what's right to them when we all should realistically mind our own, we come together for the channel and whatever is beyond that is no one else's business. Do you man, wish you the best either way! Congrats to you and the future wife!
I'm from San Diego. It's truly home to the best Mexican food in the country, not even close. And if you don't like the heat...well Seattle is your place. Southern California is HOT
I'm born and raised in san diego and didn't know carne asada fries were invented here, I thought everyone grew up eating them! In middle school my science teacher gave us CAF parties instead of pizza parties if everyone passed the exams. and YES cheese is necessary, usually a blend of cheddar and queso sauce are involved. adobada fries are also mighty fine
As a chicagoan, I honestly think it would be more cost efficient to either stay in Korea or move to a more affordable country as a whole. Even though cost of living can be more affordable here than other major metro cities in US, it is changing due to tons of people moving here. Real estate wise prices to rent or buy are crazy too. Idk your income so for you it may be totally doable lol. My long term goal is to move to somewhere else from here. Much love and cant wait to see what you guys end up deciding on
I’ve been watching you for years and I’m from San Diego, so this video makes me happy! I hope you get to try the real deal carne asada fries one day 🤞🏽
Awesome! Carne Asada Fries, Carne Asada Chips, and Cali Burritos are definitely San Diego staples. Everyone gets them a bit different but as long as there’s no beans or rice in them.
It’s really nice to hear your future thinking thoughts about your life with your future wife Ben. These kinds of conversations are beautiful. The food is secondary when I watch your videos. Have a good rest of your week with Ring Lady. Much respect…
Grew up in San Diego. Loved it. Raised our family there. Liked it. Moved away with grandkids. No longer a family place. Family unit is broken there. People have lost common sense. Living near grandparents in a family place is best. Good for you.
If you want to build a house, you can do it in Mexico. I bought land in a medium town and built a modern 2 bedroom house with a big backyard, garage, and a grill area for 25,000 USD. Prices in Mexico are cheap, and the country is great. If you want to live in a big city it'll cost more.
San Diego native. Used to think it gets super boring here but the more I’ve traveled, the more I’ve come to appreciate SD so much more. Weather really cannot be beaten. Mostly temperant sunny weather throughout, bipolar rain season every year (climate change- still not enough rain thru out the year or too much in one day), gloomy during springish (April showers, May gray, June gloom) , can get very hot during summer but nothing like texas or Asia. It’s dry heat here so it’s a lot more tolerable and I’m heat intolerant. Unless u really love rain and gloomy weather for most of the year, it can get very depressing in Seattle. Supeeer chill here, growing development, booming food culture, convenient location if u wanna take a mini road trip north to LA, east to the mountains, or south to mexico. I think ppl are happy and friendly here too for the most part. Downside is cost, no seasons, dead brown dried-up plants now, not walkable so having a car is kinda necessary. Roads are easier to deal with. Andddd.. it can still get boring lool. It’s definitely no New York or LA, but I think it’s definitely a great place for families.
BEN I feel like you would love Seattle! So many good food places and the city in general is on the up and definitely possible to build a house here or out in the suburbs but lots of public transport now so only 20 minute train ride to the city! plus lots of asian/korean food!
i been subbed to ben for ages, ignore the people who is mad jealous about your success, it doesn't matter what they say as long as you know your path and where it's leading you into the future. keep up on the videos :)
Everyone is going to have their two cents. People will always give input, positive or negative, when it comes to someone else's situation. Don't let the naysayers get to you. It's always easier for someone to say negative things when they don't complete understand or live the situation that person is in. Do what is best for you and those you care for. Thanks for the great content!
Ahh those could've definitely been way better. Here in California usually the go to for getting some proper Carne Asada fries is to hit up the hole in the wall restaurants. They will give you a full large to-go plate filled to the brim. The standard toppings are usually Asada, grated cheese, sour cream, guac. That's what I stick with, but I do know people also like adding Pico De Gallo and Jalapeños as well. Wether its a mom & pop Mexican restaurant, or the many old school diners that sell a decent Diner style burger. They do Carne Asada fries right. Also living in Southern California, I recently learned they do a few things differently in San Diego. Like their burritos, apparently they don't mess with beans & rice on them which I personally find strange. Those two things feel like very standard toppings for a burrito lol. I feel like if you were to move back to the states the San Diego/ Orange County area would definitely be your vibe. LA is cool and all, but the atmosphere there is so hectic. So many people, nasty traffic in the afternoons. Maybe look into the the city of Orange. There is a lot of chill neighborhoods there with some beautiful retro houses. Plus you'd have access to the endless amount of local/fast food chains. Been watching you for like 7 years now, and your channel has legit been my chill comfort place to come to. Wether I'm watching at home trying to relax, or watching while eating my lunch it always feels like i'm listening to my homie talk about his day. The vibes are always impeccable, and I appreciate you always keeping it real throughout the years.
Don't live in Chicago. You go there to have a good time and dip out. Utah is beautiful, I lived there for awhile. I probably would have stayed longer if it wasn't for my job. Either way do what you do. I went to Korea multiple times and always had a great time. Beautiful place and beautiful people. I will say that I think that you are so popular (besides your personality) because you bring an American perspective of eating food living in another country. I don't know if you reviewing food from America would hit as hard IMO.
Love these types of videos ben, really interesting and insightful! As someone who is also weighing up the pros and cons of moving to a different country I know how tough it is and am struggling on deciding myself 😅 Also, poor fries portion i must say, you had them dusted off in like 10 minutes whilst talking and eating slow 😭
You do you Ben. I'll watch your videos no matter what cuz it's your personality that's interesting. Korea is a great country to live in if that's where you and Ring Lady have decided to settle down.
I’m pretty biased being from SoCal but honestly having the greatest variety of wonderful food and amazing weather I would recommend San Diego. Plus Mexico just 20/30 min away would be awesome for content too
Born and raised in San Diego. Where we get some of the best Mexican food it has to offer, including carne asada fries. But those CAF looks hella sorry. Come to San Diego Ben, you won’t regret it.
bendeen in seattle would be great! lots of good food over there; although it's more temperate, some periods in the summer do feel a bit hot (for me, hot is anything above 80 degrees), but fall and spring are perfect and winter is a downer rainy season
Bruh i been hoping my boy Ben hits up Seattle for YEARS! We just love chilling and eating that gas. Drinking mighty fine beer too. Also i legit just got off a flight from Korea just a couple hours ago and the flight is 10 hours, not quick but doable. Now i gotta get chopped lmao
as soon as you build your house, and have kids, and your kids grow up a little, you gonna have to execute your exit strategy... source: lived in korea 5 years with kids
That dish is very carb dense so even if you can get more food, would it be as feeling is another question. Alsi, use to be stationed in San Diego before I came to Japan. Japan has great food but San Diego has food that hits different for sure and can't be beat for what it is.
Seattle I love the weather since you get all 4 seasons and I've lived in all 3 places. San Diego is pretty chill, but it's super expensive to live here. It's where currently live. Can't beat the weather. It's nice all the time. We get rain but not often. It is cold maybe 2 or 3 months of the year.
In San Diego the median for a house here is 900k. We live in an older neighborhood in north county San Deigo. My husband bought the house out of college in 2003 and he bought it for 430k. Now it's now worth 930k that's with no renovations and all original stuff. We are going to do a complete renovation and once that is done our house will be well over 1million.
being from SD but had to move away from my hometown cuz the cost of living there is so high there atm.. just gotta say SD is considered one of the highest cost of living cities the past years
As someone who has lived in the suburbs of Chicago, I would never recommend anyone to move here. It is not what it's hyped up to be. Illinois in general is one of the worst states in the country. The food is solid but aside from that this place sucks.
i liked the rant. south korea seems like a beautiful place. major cities are having their people priced out of neighborhoods and they’re bleeding culture as a result. i’d stay out of cali personally but to each their own. much love
We know as blokes, how important it is for the ladies to be near their parents. A man is happy, when they are happy. It's not a sacrifice.....it's love. 😎☯️🌱
I designed and built my own house, passive house with solar battery and wind turbine. Great project if you find a good bit of land. Ever thought of moving to the UK? Edinburgh etc good food scene here
