I just want to thank both of you for your service to those kids who need it most. As someone who is privileged enough to know almost nothing in-depth about that stuff, I wish that every child could have the same ignorant bliss. And as someone who has first hand experience over people who take their authority too far (I'm autistic, and a lot of caregivers don't know what they're doing and are way too harsh on special ed kids. I know that it's not the same as police/guard brutality, but I get it), I'm thankful that you guys give kids one less potential power misuser to interact with. I mean this with my absolute whole entire being. if you ever need anything, please and I beg you, to reach out to someone and if you know someone struggling reach out to them. for me, I will drop everything. Exactly how I felt when that guy hugged the woman saying "I didn't snitch": you haven't done anything worthy of admiration, you let someone that could potentially commit other offences/hurt other people out... I don't judge people from their mistakes, but I don't think that behaviours stemming from a "hood" culture should be celebrated either. This is a really touchy subject to me because I'm from the south of Italy, and I see too many times mob mentality (like omertà) celebrated or respected, while in reality the mafia has ruined my region.

Sir Parker exactly. They are an LEO, as in a LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER. emphasis on the LAW ENFORCEMENT. Yes, officers have the discretion to arrest. Or give a warning, citation, etc. do you expect a cop to give you a verbal warning if you say, assault someone when you’re high, or just simply go around selling drugs because you don’t want to do anything else? It’s not the cops job to keep you locked up, it’s the judges. It’s the cops job to enforce the law. Quit playing the victim because you were arrested. If you make the mistake and do the time and truly rehabilitate yourself, good job. But don’t give someone the excuse to blame police for their own wrongdoings because, “they don’t care.”

You're right, there may be some people in law enforcement and the government that care about communities. But I'm willing to bet the bank that most officials care more about profits. Money and greed have intensely affected lawmakers and politicians creating the war on drugs which ended up being a mass incarceration of black people. Nothing is 100% but I want to at least spark a change for the future because I have a son and a daughter.
