At 77 I had a pacemaker. I was blacking out. Replaced last Dec. after 9 years. It was done locally. Only took 6hours from start to finish. Love it! Got my life back. My Dad had a pacemaker at77. He had 15 years with 1 battery change. He lived to be 92.
Im 43. Had one for 3 weeks now. No pain, no regrets. I feel alot better now actually. I guess they are not for everybody, but it's perfect for me so far. I had heart failure with 15 percent ejection fraction. Now my heart functions the way is supposed to. I'm not gonna die too soon now. I get my life back.
Im 60 yrs old now … received my pacemaker in october of 2015, im 100% paced. I have 9 months supposedly before my battery and/or leads and/or pacemaker needs replaced. Ive noticed the more the battery runs down the more fatigue i have.. I am so looking forward to getting a new battery so I can get back to feeling energetic and healthy again…
I got my ICD almost 3 years ago and I'm still worthless. My battery tests good but I'm constantly dizzy and tired. I can sleep non-stop. I'll be 60 this December, and if it weren't for the congestive heart failure I believe I'd feel like I wasn't a day over 30. I've done manual labor all of my working life and I have come to an abrupt stop. The only thing that keeps me going is my grandkids. Other than this fact, I guess I'd just rather check out. Good luck to you Susan, I wish many more prosperous and healthy years to you.
I had my first pm with 55 years. Now it is already the third one. Never had problems. I never avoided all the things they tell here. If you are told you need a pm don’t let you scare off.
I am 68 years old and was told that I might need one 8 years ago. My symptoms go as far back as my childhood. I never said anything because from what I see if you don’t show blood they assume you are lying. I’m giving this some thought.
@@strangelove8827 About six weeks ago she had unusual activity as picked up by the pacemaker monitor. After testing they determined that she needed a pacemaker and defibrillator combination unit. She is doing well! Thank you for asking!
I work in shipping, loading and unloading flatbed trailers. This means I am tightening chains and straps. Are there any special precautions I should take?
Im getting a dual chamber in three days. Uneasy about someone messing around with my heart. But because of symptoms from Afib at 229 and bradycardia down to the 30-40s, i feel like a yo-yo. Cause is SSS. Im hoping all goes well and I can get my life back. Stay safe all. May 26, I've had my pacemaker for almost a week. No more lows, been running 70-100. At times running a little bit high but I was already told they might have to tweek it. At this time, no more symptoms!!! Now I'm just hoping for no more SVT or AF. Stay safe and take care of yourself!
This pacemaker I have is a recalled ST Jude I had installed in 2017 after being diagnosed with CHF and worked up for Transplant. No transplant only renal failure from all the heart meds. Crazy
if you are seeing this comments i want to tell you that every person without pacemaker should be really greatfull for that look how they are living however even if you are having a pacemaker you should be also greateful because there some poeple without heart everyone will die pacemaker or no pacemaker
I do feel very lucky, a new lease of life. My father needed a heart transplant for the same condition I have. 3 months on from the pacemaker I'm still in pain. I wanted to highlight the scientific paper I had read, for others who suffer the pain ❤️
Hello,I have a ICD was at the gym the other day and I was on a machine similar to the Nordic track Front drive series was using it for a month for 15 min, yesterday my ICD shock me and threw me off the machine after 12 min, was I going to hard. My meds was change to SOTALOL HCL80 mg .My doctor told me to keep doing my exercise. Any Advice you can give me .. Thank-you
Sadly I can't give you no advice but I came to ask for some, so medacation for bradycardia you have to live on it forever ?? Like you can't take enough to get you back on normal ??
@@fullyholly1 np problem and I am glad your okay but can I ask you a question I have been experiencing bradycardia too and the symptoms I jus wanna know do the medication actually work? Or the pacemaker the only way to accurately get and feel better??
Total bs, I went through 4 of them in 3 years. Never worked right, 5 -10 battery crapped out in 5 months. End up with 5 set of wires in my heart. In my experience, screw the high tech stay with the simple basic models. And just take your time and pace yourself. Brace yourself for being dizzy and move slower. As for shock fences stay away from those and big old chainsaws. Those old sparky kind.or anything the sparks. And God Bless You my Friends, its going to be a ruff road ahead.
I have a Medtronic the last 3-1/2 years, I dont think you get a shoppers' choice on the unit or brand- they put in what they have that the doctor recommends for the patient's condition. I havent had any problem at all, and the battery is projected to last 10 years
I’m 68 years old and retired to Colombia. I’ve had symptoms since childhood. It was extremely difficult hiding my problem. I’m just now coming to terms with my problem. I don’t know if it is worth the procedure at my age? Half the people say no pain and half talk about the different pains. A fraction tell about dead batteries.
I'm sorry and I don't mean to come onto your comments but I had five pacemaker surgery I'm going on to my six pacemaker surgery please watch out for the dangers I had so many infections.. if this pacemaker doesn't go well I will have open heart surgery and I'm only 45 years old
I'm 43 I just got a pacemaker 3 weeks ago. No pain. No Infection. It's already healed and works great because I feel better. What are you talking about?
I've had mine a week. Procedure painless. Pain afterwards was unbearable. I'm a scientist and have found a cardiology paper from 2022; stating advice given about pain is incorrect. Only a small % get pain for few days.
Do you still have pain? If so, how do you deal with it? I’m 68 years old and had this secret condition with my heart since I was a child. It’s been a struggle.
@@y2k4ed yes I do still have pain. It has eased, but I don't have full movement of my arm. The pacemaker gets in the way. I take pain relief and warm heat. I've asked for a review to discuss the positioning of the pacemaker. Sorry to hear you have suffered for so long, in silence. Speak up to your doctor. Wishing you well ❤️🩹

My doctors at one of the leading hospitals are pressuring me to get a CRT-D device When I tell them I feel fine with my EF at 29% They tell me I can't feel fine now going on 5 years with NO EVENTS Too many wishing they could get these devices taken out
My father was also operated with a pacemaker 6 years 10 months ago, he was actually doing very well that we couldn't even have a thought that something would happen to him , but he died 9 days ago in a blink of eye Actually he could have been saved , but there was no one around him , so we couldn't save him . If my father was much more careful , he would live for 3 more years . we are in a generation with advanced sciences and technology , and that my father did get to do something really worth for his weakest heart , and increased his lifespan for about 7 years I truly blame my father for not being responsible for him, if it's not for him, he could have been alive for more 3 years I feel like they have given my dad another life just by their mechanism from a very weak heart to permanent pacemaker Thankyou cardiothoracic surgeons/doctors for everything , big love and respect ❤️ Thankyou and hatsoff for their patience I truly admire them all
I never needed one , I had five Drs that say no. I was a commercial diver . They put this I'm and nec Ver had an event . The leads are in too far. No one will help me. I cry everyday now . They are killing is on purpose. I have joint pains I have no people with my heart only Drs who need money
And tell people who have this done don't hugged the person like did and Benny ICD went shocked 😨😳 you And patient who you hugged and if went off, and your have a nasty bruise chest.
I'd rather die than get shocked by my ICD again. I want to carry a magnet with me to shut the ICD off if I'm getting repeated shocks. I don't want to go through electric shock torture when my heart starts to give up for good.
Doctor here in Australia ware talking about installing a pacemaker of difibator inside me my heart function is 35% and I feel fine no chest pain or anything I suffered a stemi heart attack 2 years more ago my heart never stopped or beats irregular I think they do this for constant go to hospital for check up etc I really don’t want to go to hospital anymore last time was a joke doctor said your stable keep doing what your doing.. I thought wow all that time waiting etc to be told this waist of time they only want to make money 💰 eat healthy and exercise god will take care of the rest
Forget it I rather do a lot of exercise don’t like the sound of this I’m 67 and with very low heart rate less then 55 o well I guess is time to go I’m a 2 time cancer Survivor also when ever God wants me I am really 😬😎🤣 but to tell you the truth we all need to do a lot of walking and being active to get your heart to be healthy and also be very careful doctors are out there trying to make money off of u I’m a 2 time cancer Survivor I did not want the chemo or radiation and I’m still here they charge insurance for everything try and go out and walk but I don’t really like the sound of this at all if the doctor offers me this my answer is no and take my chances like I did with my cancers
