WHEN YOU HAVE A TED TALK ABOUT GENDER DYSPHORIA AND STILL MISGENDER THE SPEAKER IN YOUR DESCRIPTION

Hey Ted Talks, why did you use "he" in your description for Sunny when she said explicitly that she is a woman?

I'm having an identity crises at 6:30 am and I haven't slept at all, someone please help because I'm exhausted lol

Wow. This is a totally new subject to me. I'm actually truly saddened by the bigotry and prejudice around the subject. First point has to be, you have a fellow human being standing in front of an audience baring their soul, and some of you guys choose to tear their self worth apart. Secondly, I'm always fascinated by people who say things like 'turn to Jesus'. Rather than saying things like that, why don't you treat a fellow human being as Jesus would have done, using compassion and empathy. Thirdly, open your minds folks. Try to understand another's perspective. What makes them so wrong and you so right? Try to make the world a better place through empathy and compassion. Ask yourself what you are doing to make the world a better and more accepting place for your fellow humans. If you can't do any of that, then try to just keep your opinions to yourself and walk away, because your actually making the world a worse place through bigotry and intolerance.

I'm so tired of discrimination in this country and other countries all people have rights!!

Your environment and community supportive that what you make you lucky, especially when you have found the person who understand you. Thank your God for this and try to stay strong by trusting yourself. Good luck.

We need to as a world 🌏 embrace each other there needs to be acceptance of all people in our world, will be a better place to live.

I’m so proud of her for not only doing this TedTalk, but doing it in 2015!! It’s a whole different world today and speaking up when it was a lot less ok to be in the LGBT+ community is beyond brave. Stay strong sister, wherever you are!

Came here hoping to get an informative and scientific explanation on gender dysphoria. Instead I got a sob story. Damnit Ted I was counting on you!

It may be time for people to realize that we are born physically male OR female while at the same time born male AND female mentally. We were married at conception to become an individual. This union has been attacked by the world which, for its own purposes, told us to suppress one half of ourselves to the subconscious mind and to express the other in the conscious ego. We may even forget that we have gender partner buried in our subconscious mind. What an insult this is to a beloved partner. The angst will most certainly be felt by the ego as dysphoria streaming out of the subconscious mind. It will most likely be mishandled by subjects and therapists alike with brutal SRS and superficial advice from therapists who do not really understand the cause of GENDER DYSPHORIA!

Yes. You are all people who deserve love and respect. But you all share a psychological condition. Not a physical one.

Its a mental illness...okay. So why do we act like correcting the body is the thing to do? The body is not the issue, its the mind. Fueling something that warps your perception of reality and makes you demand from others to deny it, is messed up.

Gender is all about your chromosomes. Any discussion beyond that obvious fact is leading to nowhere.

You don’t have real problems if your main problem is about your gender.

I'm a woman. I don't ever think about makeup or wearing dresses. How can you "feel" like you are a woman, if you're not one? I think about people who were born without eyesight or limbs. They don't know what it feels like to have them. I would not add or subtract my body parts to different.

Gender dysphoria affects a very small number of people… anywhere from 1 in 30 000 to 1 in 110 000. We now promote the LGBTQ+ ideology in school in the name of inclusion. But if the goal is to be inclusive, why don’t we also talk about people suffering from ADHD, autism, schizophrenia, anorexia, binge-eating disorder, and hundreds of other mental health issues. Why do we put so much energy in the LGBTQ+ ideology while ignoring all the other issues? Who decided this is more important? Why do we feel it is important to promote it in schools, indoctrinate the kids in the process, and turn many of them into gender confused people at an age where they are most vulnerable? The truth is… this is pure propaganda. I am not transphobic; I do believe that EVERYONE should be respected. What does scare me though is our society’s apparent inability to use common sense anymore, especially our legal system, and to see through a few activists’ agenda.

Sunny is also a female name. I don't think it would be fair to choose your own name since nobody gets that privilege without paying tons of money. You HAVE to let your parents decide, perhaps let them go with a female name they thought of back during pregnancy.
