What's the flow rate? That's critical when you have a lot of people using it. If you have to wait forever for that single filter then it may be a non-starter. This is why most of the "family" sized units have multiple filters inside.
Do the internal hoses and the safe storage container need to be cleaned out? Our normal water filter builds up a film over time - I would assume this would happen with this filter too - particularly over 3 to 5 years?
I stored the Lifestraw in an environment that was cold, with a wooden floor. It was working perfectly in October (2023) when it was stored. When I brought it out two days ago, it failed completely. It is leaking like a sieve. It is not retaining water in the holding tank and it is just pouring straight through. The flushing arm no longer returns slowly as it used to just makes a whooshing noise and returns to the original position. What is happening with the filter that water is no longer being retained - (or given the flow of water) even being filtered the way it was before? Is this fixable? It was an investment of several hundred dollars - and has been in effective use for less than a year.
