Howdy, all you Charles Osgood lovers. In 1999, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey welcomed a bull elephant calf. To decide his name, they put a poll on their website; the names were Barnum, Boomer, Osgood, Petey, and Webster. “Osgood” won with 77% of the votes! SEVENTY-SEVEN PERCENT! Are any of the 77% here? Huh? 😛 Also, they never said why they put Osgood on the poll. I say it’s because of Charlie. (Guess what? Osgood the elephant’s dad is named Charlie and his mom is named Emma.) I contacted Feld Entertainment to ask why the elephant’s name was Osgood. They got back to me, and thanked me for sharing my “lovely” Dr. Seuss-style poem (which I used to ask the question - hey, I’m Autistic!!! 😅) with them. But they never said why his name was Osgood. 😅
