Is there a torque spec on the lower nut on the front spindles? My cart is about 4 years old and they have worked loose. Just wanna make sure I don't overtighten the nuts. Thank you.
(2003 EZGO TXT electric) I switched to 8" wheels and 22" tires for the smoother ride. I have 1" wheel spacers as well. I saw a description say this lift requires 12" wheels. Does that still apply with spacers?
We have not tried it with spacers. We run rims with a -1" offset in general with lift kits. When we tested this, I believe the 10" rims interfered front suspension, even with the 1" offset. You can always try it and see if it works. You want the tires and wheels to turn freely without anything impeding their path of travel or rubbing.
@@GolfCartInstructions Thank you for responding. I'll have to do some more research before I spend the money and possibly not be able to use the tires/wheels I have.
In the video (6:10) he says to install the steering rack with the pin to the steering column is in the passenger side. This is wrong. Should be on the driver side
Should there be play at the lower a-arm where it connects to the spindle? I have this kit on my ezgo and there's in and out play on both sides. I'm thinking the bushing are wore out. Thanks.
@@kevinwatsin5700 We don't have a kit available yet complete with bushings and the spacer. The bushings are found in LIFT-103-B. They are not green. The metal spacers are specific to that lift kit. You may be okay reusing your spacer if it is still in good shape. LIFT-103-B can be purchased through a RHOX authorized dealer. If you submit a contact us form on RHOX.com, we can send you a list of dealers in your area or some web dealers.
Thank you! We carry a 6" spindle lift (LIFT-102) and a 5" drop axle (LIFT-108). These match the same year range as the LIFT-502 and can be seen at www.rhox.com. Just type the part number in the search field.
The largest we have tried is a 25" tire, but it did have room. The only reason we didn't try anything larger was because we didn't carry any at that time. It's possible the 26" will fit.
Does RHOX has tech support? My steering will not hang down enough to bolt into the spindles. They are welded probably 1.5" lower than the ones in this video.
Hi Brad, You have the correct spindles. The video was shot with the first generation of these lift kits. We modified the spindles to provide more stability. Some find it easier to mount the tie rod ends to the spindles with the assembly on the bench. You can also mount these when the car is on the ground. Another solution would be to use a jack under the A-arm. It can be done.
@@GolfCartInstructions do you have an email? The tie rods will not reach down close to enough to even get into the hole let alone bolt them down. Pulled all the way down they still need to go down well over an inch. Please call me 425-891-2373
Do I need a special tool to turn the shocks? The eye hole at the bottom needs to be turned about 90 degrees on one and 45 on the other to line up with the mounting bracket/bolts
This kit has been discontinued and has been superseded by LIFT-514. If you need it to fit a gas TXT 01.5-08.5, you can purchase this and LIFT-502R. That will give you the correct lift blocks for that year range of gas carts.
I do not have a spare shock to measure off the cart, but the one installed is 16.5" CTC of the mounting holes while under load. The spring is adjustable but not the shock itself.
@@GolfCartInstructions Anyone who buys this lift needs different shocks. The ones you supply are to damn stiff, so much money for trash! You can't even ride in the cart, ZERO suspension travel.....
@@tnet6969 Thank you for your feedback. The shocks can be slightly adjusted with a spanner wrench. They will also soften once broken in. Keep in mind, they are heavy duty so they will be on the stiffer side compared to factory.
We have not tried it. The spindles are different so you will need new hubs. I'm not sure how the rest of the front end compares. I believe it is the same but you would have to compare the parts between manuals to be certain.
I believe I just emailed you back via our RHOX website. We will need to know your cart's serial number as E-Z-Go didn't make a TXT in 93. Please respond to the email as that is monitored more often.
A positive camber is recommended, meaning you will want the top of the tires to stick out farther away from the cart than the bottom of the tires. This way when a load is applied, the camber will even out so the wheels ride straight. We cannot provide an exact measurement because there are too many variables at play (cart, load size, state of suspension, tires etc.). As long as the tires and wheels are straight with the load you will be good. Then you will want to check for tire wear to make sure it is riding evenly over time. If not, you can readjust your alignment.
We can install this in about 45 minutes if all of our tools are in reach and there is nothing wrong with the cart. The front will be faster than the rear.
Please help, my long travel RHOX front steering rods are adjusted almost all the way out (over an inch of threads are showing) is that safe? Is that normal? commandyne at gmail com
Do you make an adapter that would allow it to fit to the pre-2001.5 TXT's at the steering column? Anything else that is substantially different in the carts that would make this lift not fit?
