Praise God I'm in a wheelchair chair myself and people help me that a great thing they're doing for her Jesus is always the only answer In God we trust God blesses us all!!!!!!!!!!!
'I will do it myself,.... every night if I have to,..." the righteous examples of others that shed light on the path that we try to follow,... thank you.
One of the most realistic Mormon messages I’ve ever seen. As a husband with a wife who has many health issues (not the same but similar situation Kathy lives with) this shares a very different perspective on what it’s like to help someone constantly with even basic things we take for granted. Some days it’s easy. Other days, it’s a test of my patience and faith. It’s made my marriage difficult at times. We also have 4 kids under 8, so often times my days feel like I’ve taken care of everyone else’s needs and emotions and responsibilities at home, but my needs and emotions are never met or addressed. But like it was said, serving my wife has made me realize that I needed healing as well. Because my mind and heart was not in the right place. One of my favourite Mormon messages.
" When we heal the body, it's always an inward effort, paying attention to our self. When we heal the soul, turning inward doesn't work. The medicine of the soul lies in turning outward to other people. "
I hadn’t seen this video until today and that line stuck out to me more than any other. Profound. I’m so grateful for the inspiration of the Holy Ghost, my heart is full.
Why hasnt this been hitting millions of views yet? This is so powerful. Healing the soul is not turning inward, the real power comes from serving those outward from ourselves.
@The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 💖 Bless all y💖ur willing hearts as Thee Savior would do as you gave your hearts to Thee Heavenly Will in Thee Gospel of JESUS CHRIST 💖 I sadly see as I wondered to myself "How is Kathy"... 💖 I see now... Thank y💖u all for blessing Kathy for all you did for her 💖
This is such a beautiful story. I cried watching it... my mom has ALS ... she lives in Spain, her husband does everything for her, literally everything. Love really is the strongest power in the universe.
It is February 8, 2016..we are watching this video to teach us the meaning of Service during our Family Home Evening. I know that my family are uplifted and will always have a passion for serving not just members of the Church but others all around us...thank you Mormon Channel...greetings from the Lord's vineyard in beautiful Australia....
This is wonderful, I have never seen the amount of compassion for our fellow man (or woman) that I have seen in this wonderful Church. I am so blessed to be a new member.
Being in the service of your fellow man your in the service of the lord and shall be great blessing that will come back to 70 x 70 and many blessings through out your life.
When I'm facing trouble, I pray for the Lord to put opportunities to serve in my path. I pray to know who to serve and how. I'm always blessed and amazed by how quickly the Lord reveals his will. We are His hands. ❤️
I saw this years ago and it was touching because my mom was in a wheelchair and needed to be helped in and out of bed herself and I wasn’t really strong enough to do it myself which really limited what she could do even though she was never left alone. Now it’s been nearly two years since she passed and the thought of being able to try to help lift her again brings me to tears. I can relate to the people who felt it was a burden because it is hard taking care of people, but it’s such a blessing, too, and when the opportunity to serve is gone it’s missed.
Not just us! There are people out there of many religions that take time to serve, and atheists do, too! Not all, but for those who do, their help is appreciated. Whatever your faith, we need you!
You know there is a comment I have heard a lot that may not pertain exactly to this but it does have something to do with service. "The priesthood is the perfect plan of service." And as I think about this it makes me think about all the opportunities I have as an Aaronic priesthood holder. Blessing and administering the sacrament, home teaching, and the one I hold I hold near dear to my heart, sharing the gospel. May we all be willing to serve those around us, because as we know "Serving others serves God." (Mosiah 2:17)
I had the privilege to work with HOSPICE as a CNA and I enjoyed every moment of helping each person as they gradually passed. I also at my sophomore year in high school help take care of my grandfather while he was passing from cancer and helped with my grandmother because she had had many strokes. I gave up a full year of sports and helped to take care of my grandparents. It was such a privilege to help as in the future I'd learn that HOSPICE had worked with my grandfather. The RN who helped him remembered me when I later applied to HOSPICE 10 years later. She hired me because she saw how I handled my grandparents. Blessings in disguise. =) Service is a wonderful tool to help others as well as ourselves.
This touched me! I cried when I first watched it. This is such a soul searching thought. Sometimes service is not convenient and I will try to go out of my way to love and serve God's children. #mormon #service #love
What a great message! Makes me proud of profession. Makes me not get angry when I think about how much I help my sister. The blessings of serving others are so great and worth it.
Genuine care and selfless actions speak louder then the loudest most spiritual sermon. Refreshment to a distressed soul, and people can tell when your motives are sincere. I just want to help you, these are the real hero's God's hands answering our prayers.
I Really love this video. It reminds me of a Hymn that I am very fond of called "Lord, I Would Follow Thee". The whole song is relevant but the first verse is kind of like this-Savior may I learn to love thee/Walk the path that thou hast shown/Pause to help and lift another/Finding strength beyond my own/Savior may I learn to love thee/Lord I would follow thee-I bet that that one guy who offered to do it by himself would have found the strength that was beyond his own in order to do it every night. This song and this video are so in sync with each other that it can't be coincidence. The book of John in the bible as well works well with this. I think this video was well done and meaningful. So to those who made it-I say thank you. And to the spirit that lead me to feel the truth in this-I give you the biggest thank you. (I seriously cannot watch things like this without getting teary. A son that I recommend you find and listen to on LDS.org is called Drop by Drop. I love it and it is very good)
+Elias Lowe i agree. I wish they would've played that song during the video. It would've added so much to it. although, if they did i would be really crying, more than i already was!
The message of this movie is so touching but as I think about it all of us can be doing something to help others. I found that's really important for me to stop and look for opportunities to change the lives of people around because almost every time I do I notice an opportunity I missed.
Bless those men, I pray that if I am ever called upon for such service That I will be charitable enough ,strong enough ,and have faith enough to be able to complete it and follow through.
such a beautiful story. it reminds me of the last few years of my parents life. they needed alot of help. it could have been overwhelming especially since i had 3 little ones and a husband to care for at the same time. what made it such a beautiful time and easier time wise was incorporating my parents into our schedule. take your family life together. do all of the obligations of everyday life and do them while together helping your parents. it made it a peaceful, wonderful time doing it this way. i hope this will help someone who finds themself in the same situation.
“It’s interesting, the dichotomy between healing the body and healing the soul. When we heal the body, it’s always an inward effort; we’re always paying attention to our self. When we heal the soul, turning inward doesn’t work. The triage of the soul is found in turning outward to other people.”
Love this so much!! 💜💜💜 'You' CAN make a difference. I wish we could all flip the switch to look for the blessing of service, vs the burden. Life changing.
Very neat. I really like this video, it reminds me of other situations that surrounded me growing up. The gospel is a miracle and helping others is the best way to follow give back to the Savior.
This video is done beautifully, not only in cinematic terms but in spiritual terms. I felt lifted myself by this story. I felt goosebumps and a warm and comforting feeling inside. I have so much to learn but most importantly, I have so much to do to serve the Lord and His children. Thank you to all these people for sharing this experience. It has inspired me to be better.
I appreciate all the things the men do in this video! I have MS and my family has to come help get me into bed at times :) This makes me closer to the Lord and family. I hope they know how much I Love them
Good video, excellent message to ponder! Thank you! Living a life of service, there is no better and worthwhile life to live. There is the promise of Jesus that by losing ourselves in the service of others, we find ourselves! =)
I LOVED this! I want to even pose a question we have had in our ward how can we help others and serve like the Savior, but also not get taken advantage of or have it just be expected that we give? That might sound bad and if anyone has had that kind of experience I would love to hear?
Kate Mayes I think a lot of people have felt like that and understand where you're coming from. I guess the best suggestion I have is to think how the Savior would handle the situation. Sometimes it helps to pray about the specific situation and ask for help.
