Thank you sooooo much for posting this video. Single female here with little to no knowledge about doing any kind of repairs on my car. I thought I’d research to fix the problem as everything nowadays is crazy expensive to fix. You saved me tons of money. I tried every suggestion on You Tube and stumbled on your video and ………it worked like a charm. God bless you!!! ❤

Marcos, thanks for sharing this video. Just bought a used 2011 lexus rx350. Didn't check the auto liftgate until took it home. Every other video was about the button in the glove box or reprogram the issue through computer code...Almost go to the route of replacing the Tailgate Actuator Lift Motor which would have cost roughly $450 for part and probably roughly $500 - $700 more for labor if not doing it yourself. But this was the answer I needed. Just like in your video, I removed both battery cables (negative side first), clean them both up. Put them back in (positive side first), start the engine the first time. It died. But started again then it is back on. Give in 3 - 4 minutes so the system computer can go through its settings. Open club compartment. Press off (to release the button for couple seconds, press back on) . Tested the master control switch windows to make sure they can go up and down. If one of those buttons doesn't work, then go to that particular window, move the window up and down through the switch. Move it down and hold for 3 seconds, move it all the way up and count for 3 seconds. Go back to the master switch at the driver side, test it, it should work. As for the PDB or the tailgate lift, press the main button with the tailgate picture, near to where your hood open button is, hold for 8 - 9 seconds. Sometimes, the tailgate will open. If not, then go to the back and manually open the liftgate. As you pull it up 1/3 to 1/2 way, then let it go, the gate should open automatically. Then press the close button at the bottom of your lift gate. It should automatically close down. Now go inside your driver side and press and hold the master PBD button and hold for a couple seconds, once you hear a couple beeps let go and the liftgate should open. Press and hold it again till you hear the beep beep sound again, let it goes and it should close. Turn off your engine. Now you can test it with your key. Press and hold again, release after you hear the beep beep sound then it should open & do it again for it to close. If this doesn't work the first time, try again. It took me the second try for it to work. Good luck and thanks to Marcos again for sharing. This solved my problem and thousands of dollars of repair.

Greatly appreciate this post! My battery died today on my 2015 RX350, while my two dogs in cages were in the car. I called Lexus roadside ASSISTANCE, four times. They had no idea how to get the rear door open. I had used a jumper on the cigarette lighter to prevent loss of my radio pre-sets attempting to clean the terminals. That prevented the lock from working on the rear door, even after taking off the battery cable. Thankfully, it died in my driveway, mostly shaded, as the sun was going down. Had this happened on the road, we would have been in a real pickle. As it was, we had to really squeeze over the cages to get the cages open, and just enough room for the two dogs to squeeze out. And, it took 4 calls to Lexus, two were hangups, after 15minutes on hold. Thanks again for your post! Saved our day... And the dogs!

After watching this, I tried it on my 2017 Mazda CX-5. The power lift gate was completely dead (no clicking or anything) after I left the ignition on overnight (ignoring all the beeps as I walked away from it, not knowing any better because the car is new to me). IT WORKED! You saved me a trip to the dealership, and the associated hassles, Marcos! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Thanks for the info, after several failed attempts I ran across your video. My 2007 RX350 rear power door stopped working one day and nothing worked to open it but after disconnecting the positive terminal of the battery for 15 minutes it somehow reset and now works just fine. Thought the new battery would have done the same thing but this worked!

Very informative. BUT, one important warning: Remove the NEGATIVE (ground) battery terminal. Much safer! If you remove the positive terminal, and touch anything metal that is grounded with your wrench (while loosening the NUT), you will short-circuit the battery and get a big spark (at the least), or the battery may be ruined or even explode. It is safe to remove the positive terminal only after removing the negative terminal first.

My problem was different but the things and procedures that you went over were a really big help - mine was the valet button (which I was totally unaware was even there or, if I ever did know I'd completely forgotten about it) I believe it must have been depressed somehow during my last service visit. Thank you for your help!

I've read in a forum to press on the brake pedal for 15 seconds after disconnecting the negative battery terminal, and that worked for me. The author explained that this procedure resets the KAM (Keep Alive Memory). Not sure why, but speculate that there is residual power in the system, perhaps from capacitors somewhere, that needs to be bled off.

I think what he did was RESETTING the electronics by disconnecting the power/battery. But should do it with the NEGATIVE terminal, as that's the terminal that gives electricity!
