A suggestion….. put a d ring at the end of the lift gate and a snatch block. Hook the winch cable up to rear bumper and you can pull the car out onto the gate. Maybe??
I’ve thought about that, Nash; the problem is the lift gate flips out for a reason. The car is longer than the lift gate so to install a pulley you wouldn’t be able to strap the back bumper bar as the car is too long if that makes sense.
We also just purchased a lift gate and also had the issue with it leaking off. We then rebuilt the cylinder and it still leaks off. But we have learned that if you raise the liftgate all the way up like 5 inches above that 2nd floor that it will lock in there and not leak off. I hope this helps. Have a great day!
PVC racks for the springs about the only thing you can do with the gears is Peg them. For your door drop there should be two holes to put the catch pins in. 3in on PVC.
There should be holes for the pins to be put in to keep the gate up. If I remember correctly, you actually raise it up past the second floor, put pins in, the rest the gate on them.
"When two dissimilar metals are touching, the electrolyte will jump-start the corrosion process." Steel bolt`s, aluminum heads, Use some anti-seize on the bolt threads to prevent future bolt probs..Same with spark plug threads (very small amount needed)
best thing to do is get with someone that has alot of time with that type of trailer and have them give you help on how they do it. great job guys keep up the great videos from Minnesota
Consider installing a Safety Chain from the upper floor of the trailer to the Lift Gate when you are working under it. That should be easy to do and provide a little safety if a hydraulic hose should blow out.
Yes...it is..I cant believe how much..you all have come in a short time...your racing program is growing..you have 3 great cars..no junk...your competing with the pros...that super car..is So fast...I'm glad I've had the opportunity to watch you all...grow...Go HTF....
Well, I don't have any ideas that have not been mentioned already. I would make some type of safety mechanism to insure that liftgate does not fall on you. Great video. Don't forget about that restrictor plate. God bless.
There should be a way to lock the lift gate when it's up. I never keep my hydraulics under load, why wear out the pistons. If there is a small leak, it will just get worse. Aren't the louvered doors made for gas or batteries? Wouldn't want something that emits fumes to be in an enclosed space that small. You should shut everything off before starting the generator. Never turn off with a load on it.
Looks like its more of a hassle than the black trailer. Beautiful set-up y'all got though and congratulations to HTF crew! Y'all deserved to have a stacker! My son and I love to watch all y'alls videos. Would love to see y'all come to Davenport Speedway in Davenport, Iowa and come run with the big boys and good payouts also and ALOT of competition!
Hi from SC.. Love the video.. If the toter is straining carrying one car, it probably won't be a good idea to try to go a fairly long distance from home the first time taking 2 cars.. Congratulations on how far y'all have come... SAFETY FIRST!!!! Certainly can't have any of y'all being injured!! Keep the video's coming 🤗❤️ Really happy with that 2nd place because the car is intact!!! GOD BLESS EACH OF YOU AND YOUR FAMILIES AND CREW NOW AND ALWAYS 🙏 HTF and looking for ANOTHER WIN🏁🏆🏁
When you are at the track check out those guys trailers!! There must be someone you know that has a stacker. I still can’t believe a race team without a welder!! Weld up the exhaust and put it back on!! A lot of time you guys make things more difficult then need be.
Watching you shut down generator made me cringe. It's not good on the circuit boards in the generator when shut down under a load. You should disconnect all power from generator before shutting down. Same goes when first starting up generator. Don't start under a load.
It’ll smoke one fast. Also a generator you really don’t know everything about it’s past or honestly I never start one without checking the oil and water. Those Onan gensets are pretty dependable and I’ve been on 36 years on shrimp boats and many different generators from 1, 2 and 4 cylinder hand crank lister generators to 6 cylinder Detroit 671 generators and I’d have to say I’ve seen people kill quite a few not check oil but most of them were ruined or needed repairs from starting and shutting them down under a load.
Oh yeah, hook up a master disconnect to the generator. That way, you can completely remove the load before start up and shut down. I learned the hard way. Started mine up one day with the air compressor still plugged in, and the added strain, couples with low/no oil pressure at start up, slung the rod right out the side of the block!! AND, DONT FORGET THE RESTRICTOR PLATE!!! Good luck at Whynot this weekend!!!
It's not allowed under RV status if they put stickers on it will be commercial and then you have to keep log book and commercial insurance dmv is cracking down hard these days...competitionplus.com/drag-racing/news/4275-florida-dot-race-rig-enforcements.
If your coming to Fairbury i will definitely come to meet y'all.. Thats only 45 minutes from me so i will have to root you all on 😊... We feel special this week getting several video's now don't spoil us too much Johnathon, but very excited to see y'all as much as possible so good luck at Whynot
For your gear situation i would use the Allstar Performance Gear Box. You can put multiple gears in each box which is very helpful. We have got 4 boxes and it holds all of the gears from a 4.86 to the top gear.
Springs-Plywood and some pvc at a slope and cover the face with carpet. Super easy and will look great, put the dyno next to it in that cabinet. Put shocks next to it the same way. We always just made a tray and stacked the gears up right or a pin board style on the side of the cabinet.
Its just growing pains! You guys are good at this so hang in there. As for all the comments about a bigger motor I guess the move at senoia proved that its not always about a bigger motor.JJ and crew made a great call to dial back the power and it payed off.As for the nemesis at the track, its always good to have a reason to get better it makes you hungry and hungry is good! When you win the day its just that much sweeter! Keep up the good works and keep the faith it will happen. As always GOD BLESS BE SAFE AND REMEMBER HTF NATION IS ALWAYS THERE!
I'm so pumped for you all to come to Illinois at the end of the month. Bring a lot of large shirts. I'll be there to meet the HTF crew. Dont be sad if you don't enough for the Illinois boys.
-To store springs in my trailer, I made a " pigeon hole " type rack from PVC pipe. Just get pipe that will fit your springs inside, lay them side by side, and prime and glue them together. The first one I made by stacking the rows and just using PVC cement. Springs being heavy and roads being bumpy meant we found a broken spring rack when we got to the track. The second one was built the same way, but we put it between 3/8 plywood walls. This was used for years. hope this helped. As for the gears, remember the old VHS tapes and the racks they were stored in? Build the same style rack scaled up for gear cases. Caution, just use cases with center pins to keep the gears apart.
I was thinking the same thing put the pins back in someplace to take the pressure off the hydraulics if anything call the mfg give them the serial number and they should be able to tell you everything about that trailer
A suggestion for when you guys are going up to the top to get the car. Loop the remote around the long chain holding the door up. And it will stay up there while you unload. You can get round PVC pipe for your springs.
That is awesome that your coming to fairbury for the pdc I live five 5 miles from that truck I really hope I get to meet you guys you will absolutely live that track
What I've always found the best thing to do with those stackers is to keep the tires on some sort of wheelie rack in the hallway of the trailer then when you get to the track you just wheel it out and put it up top where the car was
You could make foam shadow boards for the gears similar to how you would do foam boards for toolboxs. You could go as far as etching metal tags to label all the spots for the gears for quick grab and go.
That’s a new pump in that trailer. That gate always came down a little bit. That shelf is where I also put the gears. I built that shelf. Was a ac unit in there at one point in time. I still have the shelf for the springs that sat in there. Don’t slam that ramp down like that. I had it broke on me once and had to replace it. We bought that trailer brand new.
You can put the gears in the bottom drawer of the tool drawer section. Then use dividers to organize them on their sides spine up. Then use decals or labels to put ratios on spine of gear case. You can put 4.86 sets on left and 4.11 on the right if you carry both
Cut a couple pieces of extruded aluminum and put them between the floor and the gate while it’s open till ya get time or money to get the whole hydraulic system serviced
What we have done with headers,is towards the back around the turndown area? Weld a washer on it and hook a stiff spring on it to the chassis, helps carry some of the weight!!
For your safety I would fashion a mechanical lockout to prevent that lift gate from sagging. I wouldn't work under that gate as is, looks too sketchy. Enjoy watching you guys. Good luck and God Bless
As people have said the cylinders can cause the deck to drop. But I would change out the spool valve on the power pack first. Fixed a lot of deck dropping issues with spool valves. Also change the oil out, never hurts to do that on equipment new to you.
We had a cabinet that had rods for your gears that came straight out and then hooks for the springs and have cotter pins so they won't come loose during transportation, but we had a cabinet that was mounted up front by the tire rack
Get a locked toolbox for your gears and label the outside drawers and for your lift gate it wouldn't hurt to get a couple hand crank load bars that you can put under the doors towards the trailer that way it would help with taking pressure away from your pumps and use load bars to secure cars in the trailer
On the leak down on the door check your hold valve make sure they are not leaking could be need cylinder repack good looking trailer raced out of one like that its nice to have Go HTF
I don't know how the lift gate works but it seems that it should be able to be locked into place as a safety precaution in case a line or seal blows out. I have investigated a fatality or two in my career with OSHA when someone was under something held up by hydraulics that failed. Not a pretty sight when that happens.
You guys could put two chains that hook into d-rings at the front of the lift gate that attach to the trailer itself to hold the lift gate from dropping down and just set the chain length however long you want to have good working clearance below and it would serve as your extra chains to help hold it too
Hey guys. Might carch you live at Fairbury. The best concept ive seen for gear storage was a shelf that you could put on a pair of heavy duty sliders. Then each set of gears sits on a welded stem with the big gear on bottom and little on top. Then you can lable tbe gear in front of each one . I will try to draw a pic .
Get a bolt bin to hold the springs. Make the rear tool chest mobile, or pull it out and fit yours in its place. Definitely get the hydraulics looked at, but my suggestion would be either leave it down or make some legs to support it, you don’t want it to fail while people are underneath it. And lastly, surely you could make one of the other cabinets house the smasher, possibly make it on one side of the cabinet you showed the springs in now, with the other side as storage.
Should be using ARP stainless STUDS instead of header bolts. Have been using them for over 30 years and never had an issue. Never have to mess around to align a header, just slide it on and be sure to use the washers and nuts that come with them. I use the 12 point nuts, they have 12 or 6 point to chose from. You may want change your mind before you start tearing threads out of the cyl. heads....
For the springs, attach pvc pipe to some marine plywood with an o.d. that your springs will fit in and slide your springs into the tubes for transport. Or you could have it build in aluminum, either way tubes that your springs will fit in for transport. Kinda the same for the gear sets, a rack for the gear sets stand up on end with the ratios written on the end of the box/carton showing.
You put steel rods in place of the shocks or use a ratchet strap to pull down on the car from the shock mount on the rear end so it sucks the car down and it still rolls just no up and down it’s locked in place
There is t some kind of latch , like on a regular car lift, that hold the lift gate in the up position? Also, if you fold the ramps back up, you want have as much weight hanging that far away...not as much leverage for the door to work against. Love the trailer. So happy for you guys!!! #HTFNation rocks!!!
Pro Tip you guys are going to burn the pump out by leaving it running while just sitting there wrap the controller around the chain while up there also they make a locking pin where you drill a hole under the posts of the door and you set the back of the door on it so it doesn’t seep down springs they make a cabinet insert where you put pvc pipes in it
Concider this for support, some kinda post under 4 corners. Of the 1st section from trailor to the outer section take All Strain off your hydrolic system and safer, creatively present place for T Shirts to be hung., lights, - the car will be out past the last post/support.
Cool new trailer and it was funny your was pulling the car out and knock the controller for the lift 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 Good luck on racing in mississippi on Saturday 👍
Or plastic (different colors available), it's changeable at any given point - think roll plastic (skirting/trim)... add sponsor logos even :) (or Wife/SO quotes or sayings [read as "warnings" - I mean "reminders"] Great Idea. Like the way you think!
Pit Products is were we got our spring wrack from. Also our Gear rack. Not sure if they still got the gear wracks but i know they do the spring wracks.
You didn't mess up closing the door, you guys are all too short, lol Just teasing. I feel that the trailer has too many cabinets for the stuff you guys need to take. Our stacker only had half the storage, and we could put 2 cars up top and one on the bottom too if needed
