This is something truly amazing: A 2-6-6-2 articulated steam locomotive disassembled and loaded for rail-transport!
The steam locomotive is the C&O 1309 Baldwin H-6 Class steam locomotive that has been on display at the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore, MD. This video covers the lifting and rigging of this locomotive onto TTX flat cars for transport to the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad in Cumberland, MD for restoration!
On July 10, 2014, this job was expertly performed by Hulcher Service's Caterpillar Sideboom tractors. These tractors formed a four-post lifting arrangement, the front engine was separated from the locomotive, and the 1309 was lifted and placed on flat cars.
