2020: I saw them last Saturday at Festival Adverso in Guadalajara, Mexico. I hadn't heard of them before, and that was such a great breakthrough to me, even though their sole self-titled debut album was released in 2012. People loved them, indeed. They really killed it the Game. Glad to see this!
dang.. no Dark Allies or Knights & Weekends?! ah well, still cool. I'd love to go to a real live show some time & not just hear it in speakers in my house ;)
"Great to have you" (3X); "Thanks for coming" (4X); "Happy Birthday!" (2X). Now I know why Lou Reed was constantly flipping out on the press and media. I guess Light Asylum is less cynical.
Magical music! Pure talent.. we're haunting!! the hunting!! Borderline witchhouse just without the witchhouse sounds and tempo.. occult/indigochild shit
hmmmm.... I hate to be negative, but this is not awesome to me. I feel like maybe the vocals are stomping all over the rest of the music or something. Perhaps the studio version sounds better. I like the t-shirt though....
yeah, they chose to not use very complicated synths or beats, varying little within a song in terms of progression or in terms of depth. repetition, simple riffs, and the general texture lead to me to think that their music isn't really taking advantage of the instruments at all. if they chose to sound like that, power to them, but that doesn't change that it sounds fairly unprofessional
