Light Magic: A Spectacular Journey - Disneyland 1997 

Can we just appreciate how well animated Tinker Bell was at 11:45? The fact that she literally makes the pixie dust show it’s so reminiscent of Lyria’s storytelling scene in Tinker Bell and Lost Treasure-I can’t believe they just came up with that on their own, it must have been inspired by this show, right? Again, I am theorizing that Light Magic planted the tiny little seed that would become Disney Fairies.

Light Magic may have been an imperfect show, but damn, you can tell the creative team pour their heart and soul into this and it was a passion project. I feel like the Disney audience of today would appreciate this better than folks did back in the 90s.

I honestly believe the audience were not ready for a new night time parade. We were so use to the Electrical Parade. I love light magic and I think is a beautiful parade. I wish they can bring it back. Music, costumes, dance and floats are so wonderful

I remember being there for the Annual Passholder preview and nothing worked right. It was a total disaster. I felt bad for the performers. I never felt compelled to sit and watch it again after that.

I will always love the music from this parade!

Bummed the audio is overblown, but great location. Like you say, this wasn't a perfect show, but I thought the foundation was solid and could have been improved even further if it was given a second chance the next year. Sadly leadership allowed a pompous, self-righteous Disney "fan" to stir up a lot of hatred for this show and of course the resort's president at the time, Paul Pressler, that eventually damaged any chance for this show to return retooled.

The pixies had already lost the fake nose, cheeks, and ears that scared kids by this point.

It wasn’t perfect but it was still something

One element that was missing if you watched Light Magic along Small World Mall were the fiber optics that were embedded in the buildings if you watched it on Main Street USA.And you only got three floats as opposed to four.

I believe I saw light magic once at DLand...I also puked near the Stromboli ride .

If someone did deicde to bring it back how could it be improved.

Gosh this show is something else...I’ve been binging a lot of these videos while working on artwork and the art direction of this parade was so imaginative and magical. Quick question though and I’m not sure if you’d be able to answer, but how were the “show resets” handled between Small World and Main Street? I’m curious because I know the area by Mad Tea Party/Storybook is a huge pain to navigate during parade time.

Omg that 1st float is barreling down the route at a breakneck pace! Why so fast?

Such a bad one for a great soundtrack.
