Hello. I used Blender. Video on creation of Cowboys from Hell: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-G-MyKZ8bT4Y.html Most of the information in this video still applies On Light My Fire a lot of backgrounds are just stock footage.
If you mean the scene at 0:06, then I made the basic scene in 3D with stuff like rocks, ground and the silhouette for the trees. The textures for all that were solid colors. Then I turned on Photoshop and painted on the details for it. But those details weren't enough and in Photoshop I overlaid a stock image of a sky (to the sky) and forest (for the mountains). Then I imported each part of the image from the Photoshop file and projected it onto each object in Blender (rocks, foreground plane, background plane, mountains, sky, etc.) Same process was also used for scenes at 0:21 and 0:25. I just put the image of the Blender scene in Photoshop, overlaid a sky image and projected the results back into Blender. If the process I described isn't really clear, I could make a separate short video on how I made it if you wish so.
