One other thing to consider is the risk involved in preordering either of these phones. With the Minimal Phone, it's the founders' first ever phone, and so far we've only seen 3D renders and a list of specifications. With Light Phone III, there's videos of prototype devices in action, solid software from the Light Phone II, and a near 10-year track record of the founders continually improving the device and shipping phones. I feel much more confident the Light Phone III will match what the marketing claims.
I think it's a do or die situation for the Minimal Phone. They really need to get the protoype ou and start showing the device off. The Light Phone does have the experience and trust of the consumer market which is hard to compete with.
I held off but once I sat down and compared the specs and really studied the device, I decided the Light Phone III is the device for me. I was going to get the Light Phone 2 but then when they announced the new Light Phone I had to make a choice.
I also am A V.I.P. Individual. I own currently the lp-2 and also have pore ordered the LP-3 For very similar reasons. I appreciate the honesty, and self realization of motive and needs. I too. looked into the company. I have a smart phone That is used as a house phone, but my pl2 goes with me every where. I appreciate the vid. And cheers.
Just preordered a Light Phone 3 yesterday. I have used the Light Phone 2 for a few years and loved it. The only bad thing about the LP2, in my opinion, is the refresh rate and lack of responsiveness of the keys sometimes. I’m very excited to give the LP3 a try!
@@joshheard1981 the refresh rate is probably the main reason for ditching the e-ink. I like e-ink devices but typing on them is a nightmare. Welcome to the LP3 preorder club!
I just preorder the device as well. If you are going to gamble do it with more established company. I hope it helps me reduce my addiction social media.
I have a Light phone 2... It worked so well to help me kick my phone habit that I had forgotten I even owned it until I stumbled upon this video via your MP3 video. I should dig it out of my abandoned tech drawer and see if I can still boot it up. My teen told me I should do a review video... LOL. In short, lets just say I hope they've worked out some of the kinks for the 3rd try;) I have been very tempted to get a cell phone again recently so thanks for reminding me about this! Maybe I won't have to cave into temptation;)
Yes you should do a review! I was going to get the Light Phone 2 but then the Light Phone 3 was announced so I decided to try it. I heard the Light Phone 2 had some issues and I'm sure the 3 will have kinks to work out as well. Thank you for watching my videos!
Light3 is a better minimal device all around. Better camera, better screen, better processor, better durability, removal battery and better support. At $399, it’s a steal when compared to minimal.
I really like your delivery style and good attention to detail, covering a lot of facts in every sentence. Another great plus is how easy you are on the eyes. 😉
I trust the Light Phone company a million times more based on their track record and community engagement. The other device might be a case study in business school 😅
Can an e-ink display have a black-background with white text? I've never had an e-ink device, is that something I should be worried about if I prefer white text over black background?
I would wait to order either one of these phones until they are actually shipping units to buyers. Don't risk losing your money on pie in the sky. When these companies actually have phones in boxes sitting on warehouse shelves and real non-biased reviews are out on these phones - hold off buying for now - keep your money in your pocket until real physical units are shipping.
@@hdtravel1 Generally that is good advice with kick-starters since there is a chance of losing money. However, the Light company has been producing minimal phones for a 9 years with two successful built phones. A history of providing support for two phones and seem to be actively listening to customers suggestions. Lastly, they have a working prototype that I have seen during a interview that is very near completion. I would say waiting will cost you at this point in time.
@@LauraMalvoyante I agree Laura! I’m suppose we don’t have to download those apps. Etc etc.. although they are offering 20% off right . I’d like to see your review of an unboxing video before I buy.
