Great video, simply explanation. I've read that blocking light from the view finder is also recommended, especially when doing 30sec or greater exposures.

The ISO 100, f22 seems to be a good rule of thumb.

Good lesson. when film was used ISO 3200 numbers meant grainy effect or low light, what effect do iso numbers play in digital? One would assume 3200 iso would have a grainy effect on the photograph, why not used a large aperture and slow shutter just to get the effect? Why use iso 3200?
@smartcatcollarproject5699
@smartcatcollarproject5699 8 лет назад
+Huevonious Maximus ISO works exactly the same as in film, here they say to use 100 ISO for light trails, 3200 is when you need a shorter exposure time and there is not enough light.

Think its best when you do this with a prime lens.
@JimmyMakingitwork
@JimmyMakingitwork 7 лет назад
mohamadJO I've done this with a T1i using the kit 18-55 lens at 18mm. 20-30 seconds exposure is plenty, tripod is mandatory. The only factor is how long you want the trails. Start and end of the scene, speed of the moving lights, etc. determines exposure time.

What lens was used to shoot this video? Do you know what lens I could use to get some sort of bokeh like lighting on a Christmas tree? Thanks.
@TheChameleon2008
@TheChameleon2008 8 лет назад
You need a lens with a low F stop like a 1.8 or lower to get the best bokeh but you can do it also with zoom lensen as long as you play with the shooting distance.
