This is my absolute favorite video. It shows that you try, try, and try again to make your "lighted ring winter container." I love the "steps 1, 2, 3, especially the "bleeped" part because I can identify with your frustration in trying to get your garden the way you want it.

this project will forever be known as the killer holiday urn, I can't believe it got you in the head and then took you out at the knees! thanks for showing the reality of trying to do creative installations, it's definitely not always picture perfect but the finished project looks beautiful. Oh Erin, I was laughing watching you struggle with your project until I saw the ring hit your head! I think we must be related! This is so me. I will wrestle with things and have to start again. Thank goodness no one is taping me! My husband has had to take me to the emergency room for stitches on my head for attempting something on my own. I have learned that I am not as strong as I once was, nor have I always been the most coordinated. But, darn it, I want to get stuff done, and I don’t want to ask for help or wait. Your completed planter is lovely. It is helpful to know that you also recycle past projects and just beef them up. Great tips here. Wish I hadn’t let our wagon wheel rings go. I’ll enjoy yours. And, please please please take care of yourself. I want to enjoy more of your humor, tips, projects, and beautiful smile.

Thank you for the a) gorgeous outdoor planter design idea and b) the coffee spewing out of my nose as I watched you almost be decapitated on video by a metal tire wheel but then laughing as you probably said several choice cuss words realizing how close you came to really getting hurt! Hi Erin! I'm so sorry that you got hurt, but glad it wasn't too bad. I thought on your first attempt that you would need help. I'm glad you got your husband to help you. Your persistence paid off and it turned out absolutely beautiful! I love all of the layers you did and the lights you used. Thank you for showing the good, the bad and the ugly. Not everything goes perfectly on the first attempt.

I'm not making fun of you but I'm sooooo glad to see that even the best have "klutzy" moments...(so glad you're OK!!) I once had my neighbor laughing hysterically trying to saw a limb of a tree. I'm 5'0" tall and the limb was about 6-1/2 feet up... I really must have looked like such a dork jumping up and down trying to cut the limb!!!

Just a tip for more inexpensive foraging: in my area we have a local recycle center that lets us forage. My husband and I got enough pine, cypress and blue spruce branches to make a bunch of wreaths. Now I'll have to go back for more to attempt this beautiful ring display. LOL!

For greens, you can also go to anywhere that sells cut trees and ask for their scraps. They typically have to trim bottom branches when they net or tie them for transport, and will often have piles of branches that they will sometimes give you for free. Even big box stores will sometimes allow you to take these (if you ask nicely ;) )

omg love it, we have a steep slope I built a planter at the bottom at street level and was just telling hubby we needed to build an arch with lights down there, and then I wake to see this, this morning! love it
