Man, people don’t realize how hard it is to be this consistent with the quality of your videos as well as the rate at which you produce them. Kudos to you, Brady, and happy 2022, with more awesome things to come your way.

I think people are mostly aftraid of how hard it is, actually. In my opinion, with practice, it gets easier over time. Happy 2022, man.

Thank you so much. Truly. There are easy waves and hard waves. It doesn’t necessarily get easier over time, you develop a Rhythm, but you face new obstacles for sure. All that said, thank you.

Been watching a bunch of your lighting videos, and I’ve loved to actually not only get a good, description of different types of lighting, but also actually showing us practically how you set it up as well. These are probably some of the most helpful lighting videos I’ve seen on RU-vid so far

A way to make bottom lighting look good is by placing a light over a table and making it bounce of the table onto the face of the actor. You can see that in a lot of movies and gives a really beautiful unique look. Awesome video the lightings setups looked great !

I love the side lighting and how you always make it seem so warm and ambient. Still trying to replicate it with little luck, but I think the light behind you shooting up at the ceiling is what I've been missing. Thanks for the tips! The aputure 120d was unavailable. What else could someone use to achieve the same effect? Anything budget friendly?

I'm learning so much from these videos! Thank you so much for making them. I've been adjusting my own lighting every time I watch your content. I noticed you're getting great footage by only setting your Aputure light (when side-lighting defusing through a softbox and sth like a shower curtain) to 16% brightness. I tried doing something similar with a Godox VL150 set to 70% brightness shooting through a shower curtain. And I got totally over-exposed footage. Still trying... May I ask your camera settings? (ISO, Aperture, Shutter speed, frame rate, etc.) I'd be really grateful!
@lifeoftheman
@lifeoftheman 2 года назад
His shutter speed is most likely 48 or 50 (whichever your camera has) and I would guess he is using the native ISO of 800 (if this is a red Komodo that he is using but you have to look up what your own cameras native ISO is). The aputure you should chose what and how much you need to be in focus and light accordingly. Then you just need to adjust how strong you want your light to be. If you are getting overexposed footage than either turn down your lights percentage or use ND filters. To get properly exposed skin. However! You should expose your camera settings and ND for the background, example is if you see outside a window or a practical lamp is in the shoot then you should expose for that first, then use your film lights to light the subject/ face and maybe even the background if it gets to dark after exposing for a window that shows the outside. You could try bouncing the light on a white bedsheet and if you have the power in your light, bounce it on the bedsheet and then through a shower curtain. Just keep teeing and practicing. Hope this ramble helped and made some sense :P

@shelbytessier6508 5 месяцев назад
amazing video you do a really nice job at explaining everything very simply! question! Would these two scenarios result in the same result for the overheard lighting? 1. Bouncing a light with a softbox onto the ceiling then it hits the subject 2. Bouncing a light with nothing on it then it hits the ceiling then goes through a layer of diffusion then onto your subject

Brady, Thanks for sharing man! ❤️❤️❤️🤙🏽👍🏽👍🏽 U r great and doing amazing work bro.. Your videos are so cool and you show such amazing lighting techniques which offer a lot to learn from. Would you please also share the camera settings and light values ? Just want to try those on my camera too .. The reason why I'm asking for is, that at 1:16, lights are already setup there, right? but the image does not look the same as one second before with different framing (a mid-shot of you). So it is not just lighting, but also the exposure settings + location of camera + angle of light in relation to the lens as well. Could you please share a bit more about that stuff, so that we are also able to get such a great picture quality as you do? Thank you very much! Kind regards, Armaghan

why the side light was at 5600 K and not 3200, in order to match the warm colour of the practical lights. it was supposed to be warm yellow right? the 5600K should represent a window light as the sun comes through.no? but again it doesnt look wrong..it looks like everything is warm. it should be cold white on ur face, and yellow in the back..why is that? thanks
