People are so fed up with nostalgia that they cant make themselves enjoy ffxiii. Maybe cause they dont like how different it is. But i guess thats their opinion of the game....
I really love this serie. I don't care if people bash the FFXIII, as a gamer of the new generation I consider this one really enjoyable. I may have not grown up during the legendary FF besties (VI, VII, VIII etc) but I swear if I didn't play FFXIII I would have never touched the other games from the same franchise. Besides FF games are all about trying new stories, new game-plays. I seriously think nowadays people put too much expectation in games while truly games are merely distractions and entertainments. So if you don't like FFXIII so why bother playing it? On top of that it's really ridiculous how some people go as far as going on youtube and spreading their hatred to those who might enjoy the game but still hesitate. Seriously what do YOU gain from that? Nothing... just the company going down hill. And did I mention haters gonna hate...? Yeah! That's some of you!
I agree. FFXIII is the first game of the FF franchise that I ever played and I loved it. If it wasn't for this series I would have probably never given a thought to play any FF game.
oh wow, great voice acting and really GREAT graphics! When Snow asks Lightning if she's going to kill him, their expressions, Snow's especially, are just so subtle and so human at a level the game's predecessors had not quite reached (I mean purely due to graphics), it just makes it so realistic--yet the fantastical art makes it surreal at the same time. *gushes*
It seems that when something is really successful, such as the FF franchise, all people want to do when they've had enough of that success is to bring them down. Sure, people have differing opinions of what is good and what is bad, but with Lightning Returns you have to give credit to Square Enix for at least supplying FF fans with an FF game that plays differently from all other FF games. There is a certain strategic way of playing it; it is not linear (such were the complaints of FF 13), and it has a much faster pace than FF 13 and 13-2. In my opinion, Lightning Returns is the best of the three. Oh, and Tetsuya Nomura is an absolute GOD for creating such amazing characters like lightning!
Jdeadevil The characters in 10 were honestly underutilized or poorly done IMO. If rikku, and kimahari were not in the game the story would not have been impacted greatly if at all. Lulu was the ice queen but given no depth whatsoever. Waka really was just there late game. Tidus was one of the most overly emotional characters. The sphere grid is an illusion of customization, with 13 they did not lie to you about linear. The mini games in 10 were awful, the chocobo race mini game had some of the most awkward controls ever the others were meh. If you are going to have mini games make good mini games. Also, I do not like carbon copies in game in 10 everyone will have the same skills and stats which makes no sense (Yuna who is a teenager with out any battle experience should be as physically strong as Auron is grown with battle experience).
BenHo Calrissian In 13 once you max out everyone you have overpowered characters that still have character. Hope for example is a 10 year child and it does not make sense for him to be as physically strong as snow, lightning or fang who are adults with combat experience. In 10 if you max them out you have the same person minus overdrives. I bring up mini games since a lot of fans have an issue with the fact that 13 does not have them. You go in a straight line in the sphere grid all they did was take a straight line and made it 2 lines while 13 kept 1 line. Rikku says that but does nothing of any importance to the story if she was not there would you have noticed? nope the same goes with Kimahri. Tidus consistently talked about how much he hated his dad and overreacted many times during the game.
BenHo Calrissian Most people who play rpgs do everything in the game simply because it is there. You can try to down play the stats but still that does not make sense. FF 10 like most old rpgs reward you for playing longer, while 13 rewarded you for playing skillfully. The sphere grid is in a straight line in fact it even has dead ends. Rikku shows up becomes a guardian and her father Cid had more of an impact on Yuna's part of the story than rikku did. Rikku was fanservice in the game.
Man if the people at square enix put as much effort into the story as they do with the graphics, then final fantasy would still be as popular as it used to back in the day.
Final Fantasies 7-10 had phenominal stories. And the funny thing is after final fantasy 10, the creator of the series left along with its main composer nobou uematsu. After that happened, thats when final fantasy started to take a nose dive.
How? Ff7 is the most popular one of the final fantasy, ff8 was definately a phenominal game, and ff10 was one of the best final fantasies as well. Despite their differences they did have one thing in common, they all had way better characters than the ff13 trilogy.
T-money1379 Actually 7 is the most popular in the west while 10 and even 13 are more popular in Japan. FF10 was quite overrated with Auron being the only good character in 10. 8 was hyped because of the sales of 7 but was a lackluster game
I loved the battle system in FF13, i loved the challenge of it, having to figure out just the right paradigms and teams...FF13-2 was a little too simplified, beating enemies was much much easier. A separate point though is about people who complain about 13 being too linear. Most video games are linear, 13 just made that more apparent, especially in the first 6-10 hours of play after that it felt pretty much like any other game. You have to remember that you're playing through a story with an implied time limit (completing the focus) obviously running around doing endless loop side missions for random NPCs is counter-intuitive. I also doubt the people who ignore the incredible story told in the FF13 series especially the first game, who ignore the mythos and the characters and the graphics, the interface, the battle system which I think is one of the best the entire FF series has ever had even played the game for longer than a few hours. Your opinion therefore at least given the fact that FF13 was a 60-80 game is invalid. Also why come on here to whine about a game you don't like? SE owes you nothing, they're doing their best to take the series in new and interesting directions if you want a series that pretty much just repeats itself over and over go play something else.
Anyone else notice that they've turned Lightening into a Valkyrie, First she defies the Fal'cie, basically dietys, then she works as a warrior in Valhalla waging war for the godess, and now she's choosen by god for collecting souls
***** I don't think is Serah though D: its too obvious who knows it might be but I also see some lightning in her looks. a little bit of both Serah and her. Sheeesh... Jerk...
***** ALL I SAID WAS THAT Lumina LOOKED a little bit like lightning. I also didnt want to say it was Serah because it would HAD BEEN TOO OBVIOUS FOR THE PLOT. THEREFORE, I WAS MAKING UP "wishful assumptions" of Lumina looking a lot like both lighting and Serah. I never once not thought about her being Serah I simply thought it was too obvious... There is also "Snow" who for some reason didnt seem to be that fond of Lumina. If it was really Serah he would had been more Melancholic about her. And like I said before who knows it might actually be Serah BUT for now I can assume all i want... Smart ass...
***** So now I'm the bad guy? Alright I'll go along with you. I'm sorry If I was such a bother to you and I didn't mean to cause you such a dramatic experience. You sound as if I literally smother you with insults and was looking for a fight. You could had also not replied to the comment as well, but you didn't. Also the way you reply to my comments sounded as if you tried to lower me from your "knowledge" of the game and or tried to purposely start some sort or argument which obviously happened. Maybe you should write less ignorantly and try to use another way to approach people in comments so that you dont get confused as a "smart ass" You can go ahead and report me. But this all could had ended with you just saying "oh hey I got you, now I see what your tried to say." But you insisted and continue to be ignorant. If I'm being rude or jerk I guess I apologize...
***** finally i managed to kill it. yeah, that 3 bahamut thing was kinda weak but after fighting Caius over and over again, it was a bit of a relief haha
I am SO loving the Renaissance-esque atmosphere. And the Egyptian elements look sick as well. Pre-ordered this bitch last week. I'm looking forward to Lightning, Fang, and Snow returning. Lumina's character looks promising as well if only to antagonize Snow and Lightning with her likeness to Serah.
this game probably has final fantasy's best 'action combat' system right now. (until 15 comes out). the story is meh but the game is quite fun with a ton of skill customizations and clothing customizations as well. people complain about time being a factor but really its not that big a deal. you have plenty of time to finish all main quests and the majority of side quests. (to gain stats you need to complete quests, grinding monsters is not an option). if its that much of a problem you can always follow a walkthrough. DLC garbs are great for a first playthrough (like clouds DLC and Yuna's summoner dlc are very OP) also the key to winning battles efficiently is to stagger
I find it funny when people are saying "go back to your roots, I want something like the others, I want another FF VII". The thing I will say is this: "Those games already exist, play theme. What SE are doing is experimating things, change, evolve, try something new, be unique. You don't need to like. If yes, like me, enjoy. :D If not, don't insult them for your "not liking the game", or being just close-minded". OHHHH and I forgot, I love Lightning :3
My guesses: 1. Lumina might be the master mind 2. Lumina is Chaos's underling 3. Lumina is like a reincarnation of Sarah 4. Lumina is using Sarah's face to disturb Snow 5. Lumina can be bad or good 6. Lumina came from Valhalla and wanted to see the world ends 7. Lumina is just a bitch who wants to have fun
All very good guesses! lol xD I think that Lumina IS Serah, but at the same time is not :P When Serah "died" at the end of FFXIII-2, maybe it was just her soul that was sealed away (You have to admit: The marks on her eyes after she "died" DOES look like some sort of seal). Then, when Valhalla and Gran Pulse fused together, some unknown evil spirit took over Serah's body and used it for it's own purposes. But, as it states on her Online Description, "helpful friend or mischievous foe?", means that she helps Light as well as get in her way. My guess is that Serah's soul might be trying to fight back, and is thus represented by making Lumina help Lightning, but the evil spirit's soul is the complete opposite and prevents her from saving the world. Seems logical :P
Lolol XD Naaah~ there's no way she only wants to have fun (even though she's enjoying this -_-). I'm sure she has somekind of mischievous plan behind her sleeves
For those who are bad mouthing the new final fantasies I have some great news, you're not forced to play it!!!! how awesome is that?? so stop bitching the comments section, I'll get this game no matter what shit you say.
So it's bad that I've preordered the collector's edition twice (1 for PS3 and 1 or 360), preordered the collector's edition guide, own the Japanese version and 2 posters? Nah, didn't think so :P
My major gripe with the thirteen series is the lack of towns it got lonely when I would go from dungeon to dungeon without chatting with NPCs or getting to explore towns. The battles were fun.
My favorite aspects of Final Fantasy games have always been the open worlds, open towns, open everything. The secret bosses and summons. The invisible items and random skills. My favorite has always been FF8 so you must know what I'm getting at. Also I do like FF13 but not enough to go but this game immediately give me a year or so after it comes out when it's on the clearance rack again. :P
The one thing that disappointed me in FFXIII was the fact that it had a lot of potential story-wise (genocide, conflict between two different groups of people), but instead they focused on the characters' trying to find their focus. IMO the game could've been a lot more interesting if they had spent more time on the conflicts between the two peoples. Also, the fact that there were all these really cool-looking cities, but you couldn't explore them (hated the damn quest system and the dumb fields; couldn't even get a chocobo unless you did several quests). I really liked the battle system tho, it was fun playing around with the paradigms; also liked the characters. Loved their individual personalities and how they developed throughout the game.
(Physicsguy101) No shit sherlock learn to realize the bigger picture here her name is lumina similar to illuminate which means to light up or brighten or you could just say light and she is connected to lightning is this really not obvious?
People seem to hate on the gameplay mechanics of ff13 but I played them for the story. They were interesting- if a bit screwed up- characters and that made me want to keep going. Also the soundtrack is beautiful
The scene opening are so amazing and i' m not finish this game. But in my opinion the best of the best in this fabula nova is final fantasy 13 no doubt. So great.......!!!
**** SPOILER ALERT!!!! DONOT READ **** Lumina is a manifestation of lightning's suppressed childhood technically it is lightning! and when lightning was about to wakeup on her crystal stasis sleep she "engraved" serah's soul inside Lumina so that Bhunivelze will not get hold of her which is lightning forgot she did. and yes the God Bhunivelze LIED to her for the very beginning that he is holding serah's soul, so that he can control lightning to be a "Savior" who collect soul for the new world that he will also control. and he will make Lightning to be the new Goddess like Ethro, the Goddess of Life and Death.
I wonder if they would make another vincent valentine games... -sigh- The dude is immortal for god's sake, at least let him make a cameo in some of the games.
Im with him on this, 2 sequels to a mediocre final fantasy is just a waste of money. No one they have money troubles. Give the people what they want. Versus (FF15) and KH3. Its not hard..
AnmanB It's not that he's just saying where are the games that have been taking so long that we want to come out? Why all these other games? They can wait.
AnimeHDEvolution no hes right you sound lke another whiney ass bitch XD. 15 is coming and it will be glorious so it will take some time but maybe not as much time as we think X3
I'm completely guessing here but, It looks like Snow went all "Dark-Side" most likely because his wife Sarah died or she was possessed by that "Luna" character or something and now he's gone off the deep end in order to do whatever it takes to bring her back. There's actually a crazy amount of cutscene and in-game footage of the game on youtube, I think it came out all ready in Japan or something, idk. Personally if there is gonna be some kind of time-travel scenario injected into this one, I hope they keep it to a minimum because FF13-2 got super complex and hard to follow sometimes when trying to complete everything in every single time-zone. All n'all this game looks like it'll be a blast regardless if you might dislike the story or not, know what I'm saying?
Think all the arguments are a bit much quite frankly. People are entitled to express their dislike for something, just as you're free to disagree with them. But I see alot of people just trying to one up each other. "FF13 is a terrible game!" "Yeah well X is worse!" Is any of this really necessary? I fail to understand why people need to be in each others faces about there different interests. Its not like being aggressive to someone who disagrees with you will change there minds. And saying things like "Fuck off haters!" isn't much of a compelling counter argument either. All comes down to taste anyway, you might think FF13 is terrible but not everyone will and its the same with people who like the others. Personally I've not been drawn into 13, I think it tries too hard though mostly with 13-3 making Lightning a saviour of man kind and giving her a Cloud Outfit and Buster Sword. This whole focus on Lightning just seems like they're trying there hardest to make her popular. Personally I don't care for her. Hell I'd rather play FF4, 6, 9, 10 and 14. But thats just me. If you guys can enjoy this, then by all means. But I'm sure we can all agree that 15 looks awesome.
The issue is people flood FF 13 videos to say how much it sucks. If you do not like it then hey that is your preference but do not come to a video with, "13 sucks it is the worse JRPG ever, etc." (not saying you did that but that is how a lot of stuff on these videos get started).
Andrew Johnson Fair enough, I can understand that. These people are still free to do so though and honestly if you don't agree with them you're probably just better off not confronting them about it. The people who do that thing aren't likely to listen to what anyone who thinks otherwise will say.
I'm really looking forward to this. It's rather difficult to avoid some of the tempting videos posted by other youtube users of the japanese release. Spoilers anyone? ._.
Serah died in 13-2 and lightning became the goddess in Vallhala " so I heard" so now dat snow found out she died he became some sort if beast " almost if he had the power of Ragnarok" and Light is a "" savior of souls"
That is the point of a trailer, especially japanese trailers hae this. They grab our attention with big surprises. But as far as I know, that is not Lightning's sister (whatever her name was again).
So at 2:53 we see lightning be a awesome and her use this power that leaves rose petals and pink lightning. At 4:18 we see lumina use a power that's very similar looking to break the chandelier.
After 13-2, I was genuinely really excited for this game. I'm sure the story is great, but I was turned off it completely by that countdown clock. The game never allowed me to take my time and check out things, also the real-time battle system was pretty damn cool. I can't be the only one who thinks this......
bdr902 Chronostasis alllows for more freedom, with it's use you can freeze time and explore as you see fit until it runs out and you can use it again. It uses EP, but with the amount of enemy smashing you end up doing on a general run around for side quest items and materials, it's not that big of an issue.
You know... this is like what happened to FF7, they made a lot of sequels, prequels, and even a movie, instead of Lightning it was Cloud, But they moved on anyways... I hope they finish this saga and continue with the series, that is probably the best japanese RPG series.
I don't get why those who dislike something feel the need to actively seek it out and bitch about it. Don't like something? Stop clicking links related to it or looking it up.
Agreed. Sadly, people will always complain about everything, it's their fundamental right as human beings. This doesn't mean I will tolerate free bashing of things I like blindly. I tend to be overprotective.
People pls Yuel told Serah that they are the same in XIII-2 as in that they are both seeresses. As there is a Yuel in each era Lumina is the reincarnation of Serah. My theory.
It really seems like square enix said, after FFXIII "Oh the people really like Lightning, lets make the next games all about her" That doesn´t mean FFXIII2 was bad, but lately I have the feeling that most of the last square enix games are more about fanservice than actual new ideas.
It's more about what makes the most money for them. Always has been. They literally said in 2011 they wont be making anything that doesn't appeal to mainstream audience. So I guess in a way you're right with fanservice, but it's more about money than anything. Kinda why they're being such butthurts about copyright on youtube and overhyping games like ARR.
my share on ff13: 1. graphics: not much to say on this on, they got a new engine, and they made the graphics look fantastic. Sad thing is i think i enjoyed the cutscenes more than the games itself....well sometimes.. 2. battle system: not the best battle system due to people just pressing *auto* all the time, but u can change this by going to the settings and have the battle "slower" so you can have some time to make choices on what you want to do. And this is important because if you don't know the enenmy weakness, u might want to blend in different element spells so u can figure out their weakness and strengths more quickly. Pradigm thingy was OK. It wasn't too difficult and changing it from time to time, going offensive, supportive, defnesive, hybrid, mix, etc.is good and strategic. However, i was sad that you can only fully customize that properly when u at least have 3 characters in the party(most of the story time people are seperated) 3. outside from battle: generally linear, which I sort of dislike because I do sometimes like to explore, and sometimes i would be lazy, it depends on my mood. However, monsters in the field, the skies(graphics playing part of this again), looked nice and amazing. I must say there weren't much to do in the pulse areas, except to do some side quests, and speaking of which... 4. Side Quests: Ahh, the side quests. Thing about RPG's is that you should be able to get side quests from pretty early on...but that's not the case with ff13, which I was a little upset about, but it did make up somewhat. These side quests can get you some nice rewards (genja gloves anyone?) and that double cp item as well. Extra bosses, and teleportation(which is thankfully there since there really isn't any fast transportations). Thankfully, there are numerous amounts of easy, medium, and extremely hell fking diffcult quests in each category. Chocobos are also nice little additions. 5. Extras: shops? why bother to have any when no one in cocoon wants to talk to L'cies? The developers actually thought the situation through according with the story. Oh that reminds me... 6. Story: yes, final fantasy revolves a lot in the story section and my opinion is...: it's balanced. At first I really didn't like hope, vanile, and Snow. I really liked Sazh cuz he can be funny a times. Lightning was 50-50 to me, while I really liked the female character for not being a damsel in distress, she also needed some anger manangement as well. I liked her personality much better in ff13-2, cool, calm, and intelligent all the time. She develops this as the time goes on. Fang is also really likable, she can joke, and be serious, she's perfectly balanced, and another non-damsel in distress character who is just awesome to control in battle. Oh and the story wasn't too difficult to understand, although it could have cleared up a little more, I wish I knew more about bathandelus, and Cid Raines. The calvary, and the government in general. But hey, not all the developers have time for all that extra stuff, so I'm content with this game. Final Opinion: It's alright, not the best, but certainly not the worst. Graphics? check, Story? ok, battle system? decent, outside world? meh, side quests? ok, extra stuff? no that many out there...but i guess its alright...While this game might not have been my best game, it's worth keeping. I still go on sometimes cuz i wanted to kill those adamantoises or something like that for fun. So I'm content with it.
is not a strip club its more of city where everyone is just trying to enjoy their life and have as much fun as possible before the world ends and snow is in charge of protecting the city as it guardian against the chaos
And yet he seems like he's on their side, or why does he disappear in the portal/barrier/curtain where these monsters come from? (I know, nobody knows yet.)
I dunno I like the story. I enjoy how they're taking a victorian perspective cus it relates to the ideologies of that period. A kind of pervasive fear of death and the end, but knowing that its inevitable. I think it'll be interesting to see how it plays out. Although it seems it'll be really depressing ;_; Already heartbroken over the previous one.
Sick to death of haters bitchin and moanin about how "it's just not the same" wah wah wah cry me a bloody river. ATB battling won't cut it nowadays, ff7 is still my favourite but I've embraced the new ff games, cuz guess what times and things change. FFXV looks like it's going to be incredible, I'll be getting a PS4 just for that game, can't wait!
+Perrin Aybara A late reply but yes, it is pretty dumb. Sqenix puts effort into these games and people just blow them off saying "oooughh but final fantasy ended for me after 10!!!!11!".
I actually surprised that no one is complaining about the lack of Hope? I mean, what happened to him? I am so lost with the new storyline. Oh well, unlike most haters and/or anyone that dislikes FF13, I think I'll still play this one.
