@@RemixedVoice i think its cause it adds to the "feeling of danger" that makes thrill rides fun. In both versions you are safe, but the roughmess added to the illusion of danger.

I live in Tennessee and Dollywood is something we just do on a fun Saturday. Lightning rod faced many problems within the first few years of it opening. I was there on its first day and it closed after just a few hours of operation for maintenance. Later that year we went again and it was closed again for a part replacement. Then the next year they had to completely redo the track because of issues leaving it closed for the whole season.

The thing about that is that it goes so fast at the launch that the magnets that make it go so quick begin to overheat - hence the spray of water under the coaster and the constant breakdowns lol

I rode this just last month, it definitely lives up to its name!! Super fast like a bolt up the first incline. Fun ride that will leave you a little dizzy lol. Would definitely ride again:) I live in Ohio, about an hour from the famous Kings Island! This ride definitely gives some of theirs a run for their money! Coaster junkies would love this ride!!

It opened and closed and opened and closed and stayed closed more than it was open but definitely one of the best rides at Dollywood. The first time you ride do it at night its fun.

Compare it to Twisted Timbers. That one was like going to a chiropractor. It did one upward back cracking throw while twisting. It really gave me some back relief. I will do it a 3rd time but that was scary being thrown upward so many times. Unexpected. Really popular.

I rode it yesterday, three times, the last time I got to write it at night and in the back row, it was insane, I tried not to pull my restraint down to hard so I would get some air time but the dip before the drop pulled it down all the way. My second favorite roller coaster only after velocicoaster.

Wow...at 60 and fixed income i know i'll never get to experience it. Most badass one I got to ride was the SHOCKWAVE at 6flags in Texas AND the one in Las Vegas that travels through what looks like all the cities of America. IT WAS SO INTENCE at the end I wanted off. Cost $10 to ride it and South every penny🇺🇸😎🇺🇸
