Congrats on finishing! I look forward to seeing the paddle vids when I return from my June car camping adventures. It is time to get the heck out of Tucson before the real heat starts! Also, I am very excited to not be teaching summer school this year so I am free to roam. Anyway, I find your vids very personable and friendly. It's like checking in with a friend every day, even if we have never met.
That was a satisfying end to a great series of videos. I appreciated the lights of Albuquerque shots. Greatly looking forward to the Mississippi paddle. Thank you Matt.
It was a really cool camp for my last night. It’s rare anything gets me out of my tent once I’m inside for the night but with that view I couldn’t help myself
We are also a little sad that you are done with the GET. It was way more beautiful than I expected. Thank you for sharing with us! Looking forward to your Mississippi River paddle.
Fortunately there should be more adventures along these lines. I already bought the map packs for the other Brett Tucker trails since I enjoyed this one so much
congrats on finishing the GET! and thank you for taking us all along. I have enjoyed every part of it; some really amazing scenery. Looking forward to watching you and Jen paddle :)
Great job Matt!! Seems like for high use cases like you, the Anker power banks are a better choice for durability. Might be worth the 1oz weight penalty.
I had a few different Anker model before. Problem with them is whoever the marketing team is that came up with the current model names / product categories is insane. The Nitecores are plenty durable I think I just got another bum battery
I haven't been up there for 26 years, but have used it as backcountry ski track over 100 times. I've been on La Luz at least 20x. Frankly I enjoyed South Sandia a lot more, for hiking.
Congratulations on the completion of your journey. I've enjoyed watching your videos along with Snappers since you have gone the same way but have different perspectives and views. Good luck on your Mississippi river adventure.
Congrats! I'm glad I found your channel. I started following this hike when you hit the Gila Wilderness, so now I gotta go back and watch the AZ sections.
Enjoyed watching this trail, thanks for the extra effort to share it. Looking forward to tagging along on the paddle, and the return of the always giggly Taters Tuesdays.
Thank you for a great video series. Glad you got off the AZT And switched to the GET. Congratulations on your finishing and will be watching for the Mississippi trip with Taters. Have you remindered her we expect high quality taters Tuesdays after this Great trail.
Me too. I still want to do the AZT but I basically couldn’t have asked for a better fit trail wise than the GET. Jen is currently about 7 hours away and can probably already feel the stress of filming expectations building :)
Hiked up those switchbacks many times, and always took the tram down because my legs were toast by then. The best time to ride the tram and eat in the restaurant is dinner time when you see the sunset and the lights of Albuquerque. Thank you for sharing the GET. I’ve hiked a lot of these parts in sections. So glad there is a continuous trail. Onto the Mississippi, which is close to where I live now. Looking forward to your next adventure.
My knees appreciate uphill a lot better than down so hike up / tram down sounds just lovely. The same guy who made the GET has a few other trails that I also want to do since I enjoyed this one so much
I use variour water flavor packets for all my water and any lemoaide flavor is my go to. Even though I can not hike any more I still use it ( old age sucks ). Have found apple flavor mix to to taste terrible. Have greatly enjoyed following on your hike and.the great views
Apple flavor mix sounded horrible. I did lemonade for a long time before finding that fruit punch Crystal light. I’ve tried a bunch of other random things I’ve found in hiker boxes or been gifted and at best they were something I could just barely choke down
Thanks! I enjoy doing the videos but it is occasionally hard to keep them going particularly where things aren’t going well for days at a time. I always really appreciate hearing people like them
Wow, what an odyssey! 1000 miles of desert, scrub, pines, burn areas, cattle tanks, and small towns. Great work and I felt privileged to be in your rucksack along with the extra four liters of water on the dry sections. Spectacular mountain views at the finish along with a great sunset and a sobering shot of the sprawling city of Albuquerque's lights. A truly "Most OK-ish" finish! (Read great.) Look forward to seeing you on more hikes and the great paddle to come! Paddle on! Tortoise
