I just broke in my Christensen Ridgeline FFT Titanium in 6.5 PRC. It printed a 3/4” 3 leaf clover at 100 yards and 2 within 2 inches at 200 yards. I’m very pleased!

I am looking to get the same rifle in southpaw bolt action, chambered in 6.5 PRC, which is the 270 in a new outfit. I heard on YT some issues with the shell casings hitting the scope windage turret when ejecting. Have you had any such issue with this $2,500 rifle. Do you hand load or shoot stock ammo. And how do you like the bolt action, how smooth/consistent is it in it's action.

That’s a real nice rifle, when you pick it up you can feel the quality, I have the regular Ridgeline chambered in a 22-250 and it is a absolute tack driver , it consistently shoots 0.75 inch groups @ 200 yds for 3shots if I do my part , and I’ve shot it out to 700yds many many times and it shoots most of the time 3inch groups or better with 5-7 mph winds using strictly factory ammo 55grn . Best coyote rifle I’ve ever owned by far that was not custom , just the fact I can hike with it and not even feel it on my back is a major plus and given the accuracy it’s a winner in my opinion, not to mention the bolt cycling is smooth !

Another great and thorough review once again. CA definitely has a ton of options for everyone at price points of $900 with the new Evoke on up. I do like the fact that they have multiple offerings available in left hand which is way more than most brands outside of Savage and Tikka. The big negative that I have heard from a few people is their quality control for the price and customer service. I don’t have any experience with either. However I sadly can’t get in touch with Savage about two of their rifles. I have sent three emails and multiple phone 📱 calls to no avail 😔 Thanks for sharing this with us Todd and great shooting.

First hand experience, I had an issue with my CA. Sent it back, they fixed it, no issues since. I def pooped on CA when it happened but I’ve been loving it ever since and their customer service was top notch. Nothing is perfect , parts fail and so do people but how the responded to it matters more for me, personally.

Hey @TheWVgoodguy22, We believe everyone should enjoy hunting and have worked very hard to create the Evoke so more people can access a great American made rifle for a great price. We take great care to make every rifle perfect but in those rare occasions that the customer doesn't feel something is right, we take care of them. We hope you get the opportunity to use one of are rifles so you can see for yourself.

I'm looking for a go-to hunting rifle for deer, black bear, and elk. I want it to be lightweight, handy, and accurate, for black timber to mountains, with shots ranging from up close to say 400 yards. After much thought, I decided upon the Ridgeline FFT. I want a short action and a 20-inch barrel. I surprised myself and most likely will go with the 6.8 Western chambering. I suspect the 165 factory ABLR will be my pill of choice. Now, this is a traditional style hunting rifle. I've pondered several other guns, including 6.5/7 PRC, 300 Win/PRC to 300 RUM! But this FFT checks most of my boxes! But, OMG... the Springfield 2020 Waypoint in 6.5 CM has my attention! I prefer it in 6.5 CM for slightly less weight and length than in 6.5 PRC. I think I could do it all with the 6.5 CM, but being Old School, the bigger bullets of the 6.8 instill a bit more confidence! Dang, I might need both!!!
@Jasonmbartley
@Jasonmbartley 7 месяцев назад
I'm in the same boat eyeballing this gun in 6.8 western. My runner up and also considering the 7 mm saum since it's short action as well with a Alamo precision build. Just not sure if dealing with the ammo availability is worth it for the 7 saum as I'm not a reloader.

Not my steel barrel 20 inch FFT. I see people complaining about rifles with carbon fiber barrel. As for weight difference between carbon fiber barrel and steel barrel is 5.3 for carbon and 5.5 for steal. I reload and it shoots sub 1/2 MOA and my 142 Nosler ABLR in 6.5 PRC At 2944 in 20 inch. I shoots between .155-.358 MOA off bench. I shot 8 inch steel plate with 3 inch orange dot in middle and out to 700 with CDS ZL I hit on or right at 3 inch dot at 500 plus in field shooting pron position in cold, wet, snow conditions not sunny perfect 50-80 degrees days. Shoot in 100 degrees and shoot at below freezing to see how you really shoot.

The guys at Scheels Sports have mentioned that CA has made some changes in their quality control to rectify the situation. But once you lose your reputation, it is pretty tough to get back, but they also said after they’ve sent a rifle in, they’ve been fixed. I personally know of one that had to be sent back in and when it came back, it shoots 3/8” groups with the carbon barrel in a 7RM. It had a pillar bedding problem I believe. It shoots really well now. That, and another fellow I know, did not know how quick Carbon wrap barrels heat and could not just go out and shoot round after round for groups. Got to space your groups out for testing. That, and he cleaned his gun too good after every trip to the range, and it took quite a few more rounds to foul the barrel all the time, So he would be rearranging his scope all the time and all pissed off because he just didn’t know a few things, not really the guns fault. It’ll shoot under three-quarter of an inch with a 7RM all the time now. Pretty sure I’m going to go down and order one in 7 PRC in the next few days. You cannot build a gun that light , for under $3000. I I have just started looking at components and I have never built one myself before so if anyone has better ideas, I’ll listen

If weight savings is what you’re passionate about, great, but that weight savings comes at other expenses. #1. Velocity. You pretty much downsize calibers by shooting shorter barrel lengths. #2. Shootability. It’s harder to keep those feather light rifles pointed straight. To each his own though.

NeEdMoRE, DoEsN't hAVe EnOUgH poWeR. If you hate it you hate it. I don't understand the hate, the cartridge is low recoil and is very usable within 500 yards. There are plenty of videos online of people showing its effectiveness on deer and elk. But to each their own.

its not even possible for a factory rifle to shoot 8-9" groups. either you need to re-evaluate the way you are conducting your grouping, zero, optics mounting etc or they sent you a barrel without rifling.
