Thanks for watching my Lijiang travel video! Lijiang is a city in the northwest of Yunnan province, China. Famous for it's beautiful old town with stunning mountain views. Unfortunately, it rained the entire time we were there. But we decided to go looking for some hidden gems anyway.
Tea houses, people watching, artwork and fairytale streets. Lijiang is magical!
Filmed entirely handheld on Sony A7s.

If there is one culture in the world I'm really fascinated about (apart from Indian culture), is the Chinese culture. Surprisingly, there are so many similarities between 2 cultures which I realized while watching this video. What a great way of storytelling with stunning visuals! I loved the cleanliness that this town has even with so much rain. Simply beautiful.

Sometimes I honestly love visiting places when it rains because to me it brings things out and gives it that mysterious vibe. When I visited Seattle thats what we got and it made the trip even better! The slow mo shots of the roof with the rain falling was so peaceful

I really love this! I know when I'm traveling and I've got plans, I can be so single-minded about where I'm trying to go or what I'm trying to see, that I miss the beauty of where I'm at. And I love that you didn't let the rain keep you inside, that you turned it into an opportunity to see what you would have missed otherwise! Fantastic!!!

Lijiang was my home for 4 years! Yes, it gets the Asian summer monsoons, so you definitely want to skip it during the summer months. Best time to visit is April or late October.

Beautiful video. When it rains, it pours! Seriously though, I really love how you didn't let it get you down, and saw the rain as a chance to just change your perspective. It reminds me of something my friend says about travel and things not going to plan - just take a step sideways. And tbh, I absolutely love the thought of being in a Chinese old town (dream of mine to visit a few), with the rain pattering outside while I'm in a teahouse drinking tea. Something cosy about that thought. Your shots are absolutely beautiful and really capture those little moments of magic we so easily forget. Have to agree with a comment below, just wish it was longer!

Leave it to you to get "marooned" in an old town and make an inspirational video out of it! :) Seriously though, I love the sentiment in this one. There is an art to finding joy in getting lost in the old streets of a city--and you've captured it perfectly here. Looking forward to your next one.

Hey Ryan, great vid! Some people walk in the rain, while others get wet! Way to walk through Lijiang and soak it all in! The old city is beautiful! We had a similar situation trying to see the N. face of Everest. Awesome work on the edit and the shots captured were sweet! Keep given er!

@@OneShotAdventures we stuck around for only 2 days to try to get a glimpse...it wasn't super disappointing because we knew we would have an opportunity to see it from the Nepali side a few weeks later...and had some great views there. Keep rocking the adventure!

It was a pity, because of the rain, you missed yulong snow mountain, a snow covered shining pyramid stunning 30km away which can be directly seen in lijiang old town.

I left a comment on your Shanghai video mentioning how much I hated living in China. It was trips to places like this that kept me going. I never visited this particular town but it's absolutely beautiful! It reminds me of some of the day trips I took to space the chaos of Shanghai. I absolutely love this video - you got such beautiful shots of all the architectural details, etc. Thanks for sharing!
