You mean you don’t want another Sonic compilation, or the same 40-50 Genesis games repackaged again? I love SEGA, but the way they treat their legacy is appalling.
Sega has a lot of divas in the company and I'm guessing they're blocking the release for some reason. Probably something about experiencing the games in the context they were released in.
@@THENAMEISQUICKMANThat specific reason is not what would stop them, they could change both name of titles and cars just like they did with Daytona 2 which is now just "Sega Racing" i believe.
You mentioned Spikeout. Good news! This game is already confirmed for the next Like A Dragon game, Infinite Wealth, alongside Virtua Fighter 3 and Sega Bass Fishing.
It's incredible how the like a dragon team can launch a game every year without diminishing the quality, I get that a lot of things are reused but still, every title feels as fresh as always.
I think it has to do with the smaller setting of Tokyo, just adding onto it as the years go by seeing how different and similar it is when compared to the first Yakuza and those after. It does something that I feel like Gta fails to do without coming off as tired. It brings life into the city with the civilians in and outside of side missions, especially when the main story is mainly serious.
That’s a real shame that the Battle on the Edge track was omitted. I would gladly play full retail a proper standalone release or a combo pack including Sega Rally 2 and Scud Race.
I am incredibly thankful for programmers at RGG studios and in some cases M2 who have taken their time to emulate these gems. It not only elevates the Like a Dragon games but gives us the chance to actual put some quality time into these beautiful Sega arcades (some of these were somewhat expensive to play back in the day).
Sega was kept alive by one of its own bosses sacrifice. By the time 2000s arrives all three sega business divisions are almost dead already.America, Japan and Arcade. The boss of sega was already sick and dying by that point too but was sadden to see the demise of sega so he donated out his fortune to keep the company alive as a software maker and publisher. After this was done he died shortly afterward.
For a game that only had a development cycle of six months and having a story thats much shorter than the other mainline Yakuza games, this is one of the best games in the entire series imho.
I heard it was originally supposed to be DLC. Cool they sold it at a reduced price because of that, they could have gone the Activision Call of Duty route and charge 70-100 for DLC but they didn't. As I get older and don't have as much time to game I do appreciate a shorter game.
Wow, gonna get this game for sure. I already beat the first 4 Yakuza and always enjoyed the arcade games, and now those arcade games are extremely high quality :O
The original Sega Rally, Virtua Racing, Manx TT Superbike, Virtua Striker 95 or 98, Virtua Basketball, and one of the wild arcade racers like Top Skater and Indy 500 would rock.
9:45 VF2 looks beautiful in this high resolution mode! These are nice Shenmue-like arcade bonuses indeed! Who wouldn't want a dedicated compilation of Model 2 and Model 3 Sega fighters and racing games from back in the day! I loved playing Super GT when it came out.
I'm so tempted to get a PS5 and this latest game just to play these Sega classics. I really wanna play Daytona 2 officially at home. Really wish I didn't have to jump through all these crazy hoops to do so. Here's hoping an official release of these Sega classics will find their way to the Switch one day (Virtua Racing is so amazing on Switch).
the less people buy this, the more chance it will get a REAL release. (probably that will not happen anyway but if we say THIS format is ok, then sega will NEVER do better)
I would like to see Yakuza take a more Shenmue style of fight , like enabling your character to learn actual Kung-fu moves and other real martal Art styles and enable training in a dojo etc
Hey Sega Lord X, is it possible you could do a video on all the Arcade games released in these games from Shenmue, to the latest Yakuza? It would help viewers in getting an idea about how to 'officially' play these games?
This video was a test to see the interest my subscribers had for this type of content. I honestly am shocked at the low viewcount so far. Looks like there isn't much interest in this sort of video.
Honestly that's a shame. Maybe Sega themselves get a similar response hence why these older arcade games are relegated to being minigames of their mainline stuff. Maybe we are part of a niche group after all 😞@@SegaLordX
Astro Waterfall Speedway was so much more interesting than just doing one so similar to the first. Wish it would've still been there as the second track.
The word is that a single developer within Sega made this Model 3 emulator, and it was very good so they included it in the game. Digital Foundry also did a great breakdown of how similar and different this emulator is from other Model 3 emulators.
LAD Gaiden was incredible, I loved it so much that I sat down and 100% completed the game- it's the first time i've done that with a game in the series. All the retro Sega games were just icing on the cake!
Woah Motoraid is the gem in this collection as I never expected this. Oh and Sega Lord X, imagine if we get "Quest Of D" on one of the Yakuza games with online support!!!!
As others have already said : SEGA should release an Arcade Collection (at least digitally even though I would LOVE a physical release with like a small book explaining each game). If made as well as the emulation in Like A Dragon it would sell like crazy IMO
I opened the video thinking it was about all the Sega arcades distributed throughout the series. Took a moment to realize it wasn't that comprehensive. That's a video I'd love to watch as well, but this one was great. :) Like others, I'd love a larger more focused arcade compilation, maybe add a full 3D recreation of a Sega arcade building we can walk around and see history in a museum like environment. Also, add widescreen to the M1, M2 and M3 games as an option.
It's crazy to me that most of SEGA's backlog just became mini games in the Yakuza series, how about just giving us a collection disc or DL code for those games themselves.
Any chance Sega might put in both "Crackin' DJ" games in one of the Yakuza games? I would lose my mind getting the only true DJ simulator music game given it is just 2 turntables and a crossfader.
Considering Sega's TGA 2023 trailer, with a new Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, and Crazy Taxi - we may see a new dawn of revisiting classics such as Daytona 2. If we can get a port of it, like we got in the ps3/Xbox 360 era of Daytona USA 1 - That's all we would ever need when it comes to these arcade classics. 2024 and beyond is going to be exciting for old school arcade goers.
A correction to Daytona 2, the hornet was avaliable in battle on the edge but it's hidden behind a code you have to input. The hornet also was unique as you were also able to change its stats before racing.
Considering how macho the Yakuza games are, I'm legit surprised they haven't remade Manx TT Superbike for 1 of them FUN FACT = "Motor Raid" was just a way to release another game with all of the Manx TT Superbike hardware. You didn't even have to change the motorbike if you didn't want to!
Very good choices. I wish Virtual On was included here too. I hope we get Last Bronx in one of the Yakuza games. Last Bronx is one of my favorites from the Sega classics.
Just read from Famitsu the confirmed new arcade titles that will appear in Like a Dragon 8 will be Virtua Fighter 3tb, Spikeout Final Edition, and Get Bass/SEGA Bass Fishing. There may be previous games available too but none have been confirmed.
We can only hope this means stand alone releases of these and many other games in their library. The iron couldn't be hotter to strike than now with all of us that grew up on these games wanting that nostalgia and pure greatness available again in a an easy to use package. Emulation is great, but simply being able to load this up in seconds would be amazing.
It appears there will indeed be more Model 3 games in the future as one of the trailers for LaD 8 shows that Virtua Fighter 3 tb is one of the included arcade games. It just got re-released in Japanese arcades with the ability to play others online. No doubt it uses RGG Studio's emulator so it's no surprise.
Yakuza series is a classic series i plan on getting this. My two favorites in the series so far is 0 and the "halloween episode" on the ps3 i love that game as much as RE2,3,and 4.
Good commentary on the limitations of this long-overdue port of Daytona USA 2. In addition to Battle on the Edge not being accessible, another noteworthy omission is the inability to select Takenobu Mitsuyoshi's vocals as the default soundtrack. No disrespect to fans of Denis St. James' version, but Daytona is just not the same without Takenobu's infectious vocals. Hoping Sega will find a way to release this as a standalone and with additional features.
It would be hilarious if the next one allows you to buy a Saturn in game and play titles like Panzer Dragoon Saga while Sega offers no option to play these titles otherwise.
I wish we could play these games without having to get all the Yakuza games because there’s over 10 of them it’s insane! But I had no idea about these Model 3 games on here this is epic!
Not an arcade game, but the title that Sega really needs to re-release is Fighters Megamix. Losing the Daytona license might be a big reason why they haven’t done so, since the Hornet Car is the final secret character. But man, that game alone justified owning a Sega Saturn.
hopefully Like a Dragon breaches out in the new installments and let us watch the Last Bronx movie and all 35 episodes of the Virtua Fighter anime. for example.
Goddamn, Virtua Fighter 2 looks pretty all rezzed up like that. Great to see Daytona USA 2 finally get an official release, but a shame it's such a vanilla version of it. I really hope Sega will re-release it as a standalone title with 16 player online multiplayer, the option to swap back and forth between Battle on the Edge and Power Edition and the other modern benefits supermodel's got like widescreen. Some kind of split-screen local multiplayer would be nice as well, although TBH, I can do that already with Supermodel...
One note that you didn't mention was that VF2 was already available too on Yakuza Kiwami 2 just like you mentioned motor raid being available for Judgment. Surely some quality differences but I don't remember it that good anyway. Nice Video btw ^^
I have only played Kiwami but from what I know about the other games in the series is that this is the most Sega out of anything Sega is currently doing. The games always have a lot of love given to the history of Sega from the time period the games take place. I recently bought Yakuza 0, Kiwami 1\2 for real cheap. I haven't gotten into them yet but I couldn't pass up that deal. Really looking forward to 0 as I have heard great things. I do understand why there's no difficulty options. It is framed as if Kiryu walked into an arcade and is playing the game right then. So I guess you can say it is trying to emulate the arcade experience in game.
I really wish sega would just release all of these games in a collection. It's insane that the only way I can play Virtua Fighter 5 on PC is by playing Like A Dragon. They should take all of these games from all of the Yakuza games and put them in a single collection.
Power edition first stage is the best stage of whole Daytona USA brand ... Better they kept this version instead of the original, which was too plastic in my opinion, this power edition stage, really does you the feeling you are actually playing Daytona USA... Love it ❤❤❤
honestly I could have done without the crt filter and I would have loved a practice mode. Getting used to the tracks without fighting a timer all the time is huge.
Makes me wonder what arcade games will be included in Infinite Wealth. If they include all these and then some? Then I might have to get it when it hits.
I'd love a little Scud Race action but they'd probably need to mod the licensed cars out and that might be difficult with emulation so it's probably unlikely. Planet Harriers would also be nice.
I don’t like Yakuza or Like A Dragon games, but I wanted to try Outrun, Space Harrier, and Virtua Fighter 2 again. This video made me realize I have Yakuza: Like A Dragon in my library, so I could try all 3 of them. I just saved my game at the Club Sega arcade so I can play them whenever I want. I’d like to try Daytona 2, but I’m not going to buy Like a Dragon Gaiden just for that.
Think you forgot to mention if you don't like Dennis, you're stuck with him as there's ALSO no option to switch to Mitsuyoshi for the vocals. I think. I don't actually have the game myself.
