When someone refers to an “irrational fear”, they’re not claiming the fear itself is irrational, but rather the amount of fear. I’m afraid of bees, which is rational because they can kill me, but if I refused to leave me house because there might be a bee outside, then the fear is irrational
Yeah. Exactly this. If there was a spider sealed in a glass box and totally unable to get out I would still not want to put my hand on the glass where the spider was. That is an irrational fear of spiders.
Right! Spiders are a common and understandable fear, however, most spiders won't or can't hurt you. Having a phobia for spiders is both normal and irrational.
I remember answering a few of the questions when they sent out the surveys. My favorite response was something like, "What do you get at the Hardware Store?" A: Lost.
I will say as someone who has family members with them, irrational fear does NOT mean "Fear of something odd", it means "A level of fear that ISNT equal to the actual risk of said thing" You can have an irrational fear of heights- Its not that other people arent afraid of heights but you 're terrified of falling when you look down over the railing of a flight of stairs 2 or 3 floors up.
These are really creative spins on the Family Feud style of games, and it’s neat how at the end, the credits scene seems to show that the new answers in *this* game are added to the database for all other players! Yknow, for when the game comes out
Can I just say... I didn't realize it was my actual turn when I started spouting off both " *Getting Crushed* " and " *Mustard* " as potential answers for "Irrational Fears"... -Richmond
The tic-tac-toe and pong ones seem like they are better done in-house. You need better communication for those two as they're team games. The other 2 can be done with a bigger group as they're competitions.
i interpreted the irrational fears thing as more like whether the extent to which you fear it is ratioal instead of if it's a rational thing to be afraid about. like yeah being afraid of spiders makes sense in a primordial level like Price said, but if the fear is so intense that it affects my functioning when im exposed to spiders, then I'd consider it "irrational" (that word feels kinda invalidating ngl)
Yeah, as stated by a quick google search "An irrational fear, also known as a phobia, is an intense and disproportionate fear of something that poses little or no actual danger"
I liked the different modes! I think now that everyone understands how to play all the different modes next time can be more fun because you're not struggling to figure the game out
I (and a lot of people here, it seems) interpret that irrational fear means fears that are way too intense for something that can't harm you now. For example, being afraid of dogs is a rational fear, but being so afraid of dogs to the point of staying cooped up in the house because a neighbour has a pet dog is an irrational fear.
My favorite game mode in this one is definitely HiLo, though Squares is right there. Speed is where you have to have fast fingers and fast thinking of course, and some might have a great advantage in that. The only one I don't care for is Bounce because I get what they were going for with it. Though I don't think it translates as well because I like Pong but I think having this combined with surveys is a bit too stressful for a lot of people plus it doesn't really work over streams. But overall, I still think this is a fun, experimental concept Jackbox has done. It gets addictive fast.
Fear of snakes is more primordial than fear of spiders, just saying. Our response to snakes is so intense that we see them even when images are very blurred.
I know this is a 2 day d video, but for the kid characters one I would have absolutely been naming Franklin, Dagget, and Norbert. My top 3 favorite cartoon animal characters of all time. Can almost guarantee one of them might have been on the list.
Price should know that there’s very few species of spiders in the US that have venom that’s dangerous to humans. So, yeah, the fear of regular spiders is kind of irrational
this game's so fun! cant wait for the release!! scary animals and childhood characters was HARD lmao and i agree w Ash! the first one was my favorite too
Cute names for "butt"??? Well I think we all know which one Aenne's voting for. Actually, i wouldn't be surprised if Aenne actually suggested that particular topic to the devs when they were making this.
