What sets apart Initial D from Wangan Midnight is identifiable in the music. Initial D has light eurobeat because it's lighter and more about racing, but Wangan has hard rock because it's darker than Initial D, showcasing the consequences of street racing (the way people ruin their lives trying to defeat the Devil Z, but then hesitate at the last second and quit racing)
This is pretty accurate after watching the first episode also this was the song that played where they showed the flashback of the previous owner of the Devil Z crashing.
You're right. I don't think anyone in Initial D ends up sacrificing their other live for racing. No one has been faced with career or racing, school or racing, and family or racing in Initial D
Another way to shed light in the difference in the two series: The Eurobeat in Initial D is really a derivative of techno/electronic/similar genre. The kind of music you would likely hear in a club where you want to party with people around you. Think of drifting as a kind of dance you do with a car. Plus there is a much greater sense of community within the Initial D universe between the drivers & even spectators, commenting on drifting technique & gaining respect from each other. Even after a hard fought race. That sense of community is virtually absent in Wangan, where there's only two, maybe three or four vehicles racing against each other, where the stakes are high & only reward is a stroke of ego. As a result, that's why the music that plays is a lot more aggressive than that found in Initial D. Of course, a more simpler answer is that there's a lot of adrenaline rush just thinking about driving at a high rate of speed.
The battle between Hiramoto, Akio and Tatsuya is the best one for me. Like, the part where the 3 of them are going full throttle side by side is probably the most energizing and adrenaline pumping scene I've ever seen in an anime.
when you think you're going fast, actually going faster than you usually dare but then you hear another engine sound from behind. speedo shows numbers you haven't hit before yet still, like a nightmare, a dark blue 240Z screams past you so fast it's as if you stood still. and in disbelief you lift your foot off the throttle.
@@user-cv2my8ck5d if the devil z was real. It would be faster than the carrera gt. It has roughly the same power ( both are around the 600hp ) but the carrera gt is heavier than the Z.
@@ichigozanghetsu assuming you don't know, Devil Z is based on a real life 280ZX from the Midnight club with more than 600hp and a top speed of around 300 km/h. The only difference between the anime and the real car is the real car wasn't "haunted".
Also 0:56, you drive a 2005 Camry SE, the V6 version with a 3.3l 1MZ-FE with VVT-I. Suddenly VVT-I kicks in, your car roars and suddenly you're passing the stock Ford Fusion that wanted to race. (Yes I've seen stock Ford Fusions trying to race, it's very sad to watch)
Hiramoto with his dragon R32! Racing the Devil Z and the Blackbird of Wangan! Can he do it? Who will pass the truck first? The road's all clear! Looks like Hiramoto's in the middle and what's that? Blackbird and the Z coming side by side! Hiramoto chose a car over the happiness of a child to win this battle. But... he couldn't step on the gas.. The Blackbird's in the lead but the devil Z comes in front of blackbird and passes him! It comes to show, Hiramoto couldn't do it, He sold his R32 and went back to his wife and child. And they lived happily together.

wangan midnight is much much more technical in some sense, for example explaning importance of chassis stiffness, amount of downforce, weight distribution and importance of right weight distribution in general

You are driving your newly tuned car, testing it, and suddenly two cars pass you, one from the left, a black 911 930, and from the right, a blue Z30! You have a newer car so yo think you have the upper hand but, no matter how much you press the thorttle you can't reduce the gap, but suddenly you see them, thinking you're faster but they were braking! And you see trucks and you can't brake enough to be able to avoid them and you crash into the wall old version: U drive ur tuned [inser any car] and turn to the left .... a porshe 911 930 clored black ....turn to the right...... a z30! ........ u press the throtlle to its max but those two dont stop ..... a trucl dosent use his blinkers and u crash in it
