What I noticed from the morden remakes is the UI is boring in design and cut content; like b scenario from re2 and some of luis' lines being cut because it's morden day and you're not allowed to talk about womens tits.
Similar to the recent Tomb Raider remaster collection, I wished Capcom would remaster the original Resident Evil 1,2 & 3. There are fans on Twitter (I'm not calling it X) begging Capcom to make it happen. And that also includes bringing back Dino Crisis.
If you have a PC the PC ports of Re1, 2 and 3 have been getting a lot of love by the modding community. The channel Avalanche Reviews has some videos on the PC versions and mods. They are basically remasters at this point with the backgrounds being upscaled and everything, definitely the best way to play the original 3 currently. Obviously they take some tinkering to get running though.
@@Gatorade69 I was able to get the PC ports from internet archive and use the rebirth mod But I still wish that Capcom would just release the old PS1 games on current hardware. I'm aware that the director's cut of the first game is available on the PlayStation store. But that's mostly an emulated port, not a remaster.
Sadly Dino Crisis has probably zero chances to rise from the grave, Capcom for the last decade is just showing interest for Resident Evil and Monster Hunter, if you are lucky you get a mediocre Megaman and a very occasional new title like Street Fighter 5 or Devil May Cry 5, other than that I lost hope of ever seeing Dino Crisis ever again. Specially after that trailer for a new dinosaur ip, Exoprimal or something like that, if they decided to make a entirely new ip for a dinosaur game it shows that they have zero confidence in the Dino Crisis name.
I don't think a benchmark of time since release is a good basis for whether a game should be remade or remastered. Darkside Chronicles, Umbrella Chronicles, and the Outbreak duology are more deserving. They're less accessible (in terms of being trapped on PS2/PS3), have online multiplayer that is well suited (in case of the Outbreak duology) that could mesh well with having proper access to it again. Darkside/Umbrella Chronicles could benefit from online co-op (and keepong local co-op too).
In my head I just assumed Rebecca has been up for over 48 hours straight with most of that time fighting for her life so she’s basically fried by the time Chris finds her in RE1
@@KegOfMeat I'd absolutely love a remake of 0, but idk if that'd fix the Rebecca issue in RE1, unless you outright removed her from 0. I feel like the play would be to just make her more competent in a potential RE-REmake 1
I would love to see Resident Evil Outbreak remade because it came out before most players had internet capable of even playing it with others. Plus how console online gaming was smaller then as it is now.
I think it's interesting that you mention Mr. X. He was a guy that I guarantee most people missed because they only played through the original game once. He only appeared on the 2nd playthrough, not exclusive to a person. Then RE3 comes out and the devs went "Hey, what if that 2nd campaign but that guy chases you throughout the entire campaign?" and since most people completely missed that 2nd playthrough, it was unique. But with the constant chasing throughout the campaign, it still felt fresh for those who had fought Mr. X. Now we have 2 Remake that comes along and says "Hey, remember how limiting it was on that old PS1 hardware? What if we took that idea but using today's hardware where the person actually chases you instead of magically popping in at random places." Then 3 Remake comes along and I'm sure the devs are going "Oh fudge-cicals. 2 Remake already took the idea that RE3 had to its logical conclusion. What do?" So they were in the unenviable position of having to remake a game whose main hook was taken by the previous game's remake. So, they opted for changes and that's understandable. Unfortunately, a lot of those changes were underwhelming. Not just in regards to Nemesis but even the multiple choice aspect of the narrative. RE3 gave you choices on what to do that altered events a bit (except for that one metal crate you dodge. I don't get why that was there, the outcome is literally the same no matter what you choose. Was it a joke?) Why take that away? Especially if you're going to ask people to complete the game multiple times anyway?
Honestly? Re0 could be reshaped as a flashback into the re1 remake. They could contextualize it by Rebecca recounting what happened when alpha team first came to the mansion to Chris.
Speaking of which, when Operation Javier was mentioned in the RE4 Remake, not only it made the events of Darkside Chronicles semi-canon, but it opens up the possibility of Capcom revisiting the game and do something with it again one way or another. It would give more depth to Krauser's descent to madness.
If the original RE gets a remake with today's engine, all 4 (Jill, Chris, Barry and Rebecca) characters should get an ending cutscene in which *all 4* clearly survived the events of the first videogame
That, and even more so, we should have the chance to see Wesker’s rebirth and subsequent escape from the Arklay Mansion actually play out onscreen, like in The Umbrella Chronicles. I think the 2002 remake’s lack of the latter aged significantly less well, versus its lack of the former, seeing how big Wesker would become leading up to RE5.
@@markcobuzzi826 definitely, the scenario with Wesker escaping on his own before the explosion and also the scenario with Rebecca and Richard until Richard's demise
@@jordanthompson1212I think the camera angles are cinematic and add to the intensity. They add a degree of mystery to what isn't seen and add to the combat and manueverability
would rather code veronica(which needs it the most with how the gameplay/definitely story needs a big rework and cutting in areas.) or mixing it with re 0 should happen instead as i do feel the remakes should end after a bit.
A remake in the style of the current remakes would be outstanding. Imagine being in a narrow hallway, a crimson head running at you full-speed, with lightning flashing through the windows. The atmosphere would be unmatched.
Pretty much everyone is already saying this. I don't think it's a particularly unusual thing to say. CV, 5 and RE1 are the 3 games people keep asking for remakes for.
I just don't get why people are suddenly ok with classic games getting full-blown remakes instead of, y'know, focusing on new things? I find it weird how people say "oh it's to modernize them for modern audiences who might want to get into the series"... but, like, isn't that the same reason why Hollywood makes remakes of classic movies and yet the idea of movie remakes is still frowned upon? And also... wouldn't that mean that every single classic videogame out there should get a "modern" remake? I've said before that Capcom remaking RE4 (and probably RE5 and RE6) is like Disney remaking their classic animated movies in live-action, so if they remade RE1 again it would feel like a cashgrab like when Disney remade the Jungle Book THREE TIMES. Why can't we just leave classic games as they are and let people enjoy them for what they are? It's like when I see people insisting that the first Kingdom Hearts game should get a modern remake since it's also as old as the RE1 remake with modern graphics and improved gameplay... like, what's the reason if the game's still perfectly playable and still has the charm that made it special? And that brings me to another issue that was more noticeable with the RE4 remake... I know Crowbcat got some flak from RE4 remake fanboys, but aside from some nitpicks, I think he's mostly correc when it came to the whole "soul vs. soulless" thing... plus, it just goes with how a lot of people feel that modern gaming don't have as much "passion" and "polish" as gaming from 20s ago, hence why people still bring up old PS2 games that did so much when compared to modern Triple A games. Sorry for the long rant, but it's just something that bothers me.
Crowbcat is a moron. Hes blinded by nostalgia. Just look at how many people playing Re 4 Remake. Gameplay is far superior than what you call "soulless." No wonder he got destroyed on Twitter.
Youre not alone on that, more people than you think believe that good games like RE1R should be praised and left untouched, It feels like touching a piece of art and modernize it just because present people cant appreciate the good things made in the past.
You guys are forgetting that people will ask for a remake of the remake of the remake in 30 years. While I enjoyed RE4make I still think it was unnecessary. I also played RE1make and while I found it to be a torture in the inventory management, the game still holds up enough to not need a remake. Remakes maybe should be reserved for games that either had good ideas but executed them wrong, games that didn't reach their full potential due to hardware limitations or just a very tight budget or whatever reason that isn't "game too old, remake needed".
@DarkOverlord96 This resonates with me so much. As someone who is disillusioned with modern gaming because of the industry wide practice of taking a cash grab approach of remaking games that don't need it while leaving the more unique original versions lost to time or try to make people forget about them. All in an attempt to "modernize" aka homogenize everything for a modern audience that can't be bothered to actually play and learn a game that's different. It's led to a lack of creativity in visuals, gameplay style, and setting in games leading to them all feeling dull and soulless. If these companies at least allowed the originals to remain relatively available alongside these "improved " versions. However they don't because a modern player will whine and cry and moan that they can't get into it or it's "archaic " since they only have known this era of homogenized games that all play the same. Sorry thats on the player not the game. Learn the game, meet it on its terms, stop asking for a game to have it's individuality ripped away just so it's "more accessible". When these games released people acclimated and learned the game. Nobody wants to actually learn a game anymore and actually understand it's systems. They want difficulty removed, they uniqueness and creativity removed. It sucks that things don't seem to be improving only getting worse.
Ive only ever been a casual RE fan, saw the first two movies, learned the games existed and were completely separate far better stories from a friend who played a Ton of 4 and let me from time to time, then ran through 4 once myself. I havent played anything else since that time though I watched someone playthrough Revelations and eventually the 2 and 3 remakes so overall my understanding of the storyline is sorta vague though I did do some reading on the wikipedia a long while ago so it's not too confusing. Id love to see a modern-day version of the original and would absolutely play it if they redid the mechanics like the 2 and 3 remakes because even if I had the opportunity to play the original version or the '02 I still wouldnt as I just cant deal with the fixed camera perspective. I grew up through that era, started off on a Genesis with Sonic and Gunstar Heroes, then Playstation with Spyro, Medal of Honor and Army Men, so since getting ahold of 3D games Ive always been able to control the camera which has made it impossible for me to adapt to certain types of games that are 3D. It would be awesome to finally get to experience the beginning of this franchise for myself so definitely agree it deserves the remake.
Great video. I wonder why they haven’t made a modern game with the weird animal bug B.O.W.s like in 0,1, code Veronica, and outbreak. Like I want to see a re mastered yawn the stinger or Oscar
Let's say that Capcom decides to remake RE1make, in 30 years we will have this same type of video asking for another remake doing the same arguments, then in 2124 we will have like 7 remakes of the same game. You see the problem?
My top 3 picks for ones in need of a remake are 1, Veronica, and Zero. Personally I'm wanting Veronica the most, because Claire is my favorite Resi Girl from the series.
If they Capcom thinking about remaking Resident Evil 1. I want both Chris and Jill's story playthroughs to be different from each other, and each of them have their own unique map areas for each part of the mansion they're in. Plus each of them havevtheir own bosses to deal with. Both of them have their own unique combat abilities when dealing against monsters.
My idea has been to offer three campaign types, “Classic Chris”, “Classic Jill”, and “The True Events”. The former two campaigns are structured as the campaigns in RE1’s 1996 and 2002 versions. However, the latter would have you playing as both Chris and Jill, functioning like a prototype RE0 Remake, plus feature both Barry and Rebecca. That can be the means by which one can recreate the canon ending. Also, I think that when a player completes the hypothetical third campaign option, they will unlock a mini-game called “Rebirth”. That bonus mode would be centered around Wesker surviving his altercation with the Tyrant, discovering his superhuman abilities, and escaping from the mansion before it self-destructs, as depicted in The Umbrella Chronicles.
I only want two things for Capcom to do in regards to RE: - Give us a RE: Classic Collection - Give us more Rebecca Also I think it would be cool to see a sort of RE0 De-make for the N64. A good bit of it was finished however scrapped and redone for the Gamecube as it was on the horizon.
Okay, so I'm not a resident evil guy and most of what I know is memes and pop culture osmosis, so I always just kinda assumed that the first one got the first remake in this line of RE remakes.
If capcom would do it,they should structure it so it adds more content like new enemies, like hw they introduced "paleheads","ne alpha zombies" and "martinico" in 3 and 4R respectively, and not cut out the spider and crow enemies Polish the story so it connects to the other reimaginings esp whn they did sucha fine job connectin the plot threads of 4R to 3 and 2R in more ways thn one aside from the involvement of leon and ada Fix some dialogue options just a few Add new areas so the veterans who know the mansion by heart get confused, structure it the way the environment in 2R was structured if nt better No holdin bk on the gore physics esp whn the mansion zombies have been wanderin around the mansion for 3 months, and in heat of july no less Make the choices u make matter, hell thy could add the zappin system tht they failed to add to 2R for replayability And most importanly : NEVER outsource it to Mtwo (guys who made 3R) ever
If Capcom remakes RE0, it could help them integrate what was established in that game, into their 2nd attempt at remaking original Resident Evil game. Rebecca acts like a scaredy-cat in the RE1 Remake, even though she wasn’t like that in RE0. So if they remade Resident Evil… again, they should do it after remaking RE0, and by doing so Rebecca wouldn’t act like a scaredy-cat, but rather a girl who experienced things before.
With all due respect but youre out of your mind if you believe that a new remake of RE1 is gonna top the original remake. Its the last RE that Shinji Mikami was involved and Its peak survival horror, no modern graphics will ever top that game and will only ruin the memory of that beloved game.
That wasn't the last Resident Evil he worked on, he directed the RE4. Also the original's always going to be there, so they're not going to lose anything by trying again.
@@TBP Sorry let me rephrase my statement, Its the last classic RE that Shinji Mikami worked on before trying a new approach with new mechanics like RE4 and Zero. My point however about what i said still stands.
It'll only ruin the memory as if you let it ruin the memory. Like I said, the game will always be there. It's not like a new Creator giving it a new twist is going to suddenly make the old game cease to exist. Personally, I just don't feel the need to be cynical about the series right now.
@@TBP Im not being cynical at all and i do respect your opinion about It but there's people like myself that doesnt need a modern take of Van Gogh's Sunflowers when the original is still as beautiful as the first time It was painted. If you still want It then suit yourself but please refrain yourself from calling cynical to the people that doesnt align with your point of view.
Fair enough, you respect my opinion and I respect yours. What I don't respect is you going up and down this comment section pointlessly roasting people just trying to give their opinion. I've seen the replies. So if cynicism isn't the right word, call it what you will, but if you respect my opinion, try to respect other people's opinions as well. We may not agree, but we're all in this together.
As long as they don't fuck it up like REmake 2 or 3, I'd be okay with it. Id just prefer a CVX remake first, since it hasnt seen a re-release since 360/PS3 days
@@Gatorade69 2 was fine until the B scenario (or 2nd run). In the original game, it felt like you were actually experiencing what the other character was doing during your A scenario run. In the remake, they just took first run and gave you a different starting point. They didn't even bother making the stories connect. If it was just a small little bonus mode like Ghost survivors or 4th Survivor, I wouldn't care, but it makes up like 50% of the story content. It felt half-assed. It's still a great game, but as a remake, it's lacking.
4:46 the Spencer mansion was made in true 3D as a dlc level in umbrella corps. Of course that is of no significance because of how awful that game was.
Considering they messed up the remakes of 2 & 3, nah I wouldn't want them to butcher the original. Please understand my position - they are good games, just bad remakes. They changed or cut out too much & they completely botched the story of 2.
How about instead of more remakes they should focus on a new installment? Wanting this game and that game remade gives Capcom an excuse to get lazy... again. As for remaking RE1, again, I'm 100% against it. The RE1 remake is a damn near perfect game. I'd go as far as to say it's the definition of survival horror. You know Capcom has tried so half-assed in the past for a multiplayer RE game; Umbrella Corps, Resistance, and Re:Verse. Why not just do something equally as lazy and just port the damn Outbreak games to modern systems?
Exactly, Its the last RE made by Shinji Mikami and Its perfect the way It is, i dont want his Magnum Opus to be tampered only to grab a few bucks. RE1R Will always be my fav one in the entire franchise and ill die on that hill.
What do you mean they should "focus on new installments"? The last new game came out less than 2 years ago with DLC a year and a half ago. I think they've earned the benefit of the doubt at this point as far as supporting the franchise with new installments and remakes.
Only if you start the clock at 2019. If you start the clock at 2015, we've had equal parts new games and Remakes. Also a couple of DLC chapters, and a couple of multiplayer games (both of which sucked). Personally I just think you're being willfully cynical.
@@TBP Oh so you knew what I meant and now you're just moving the goal post. I remember the last time people gave Capcom the benefit of the doubt and we ended up with content locked on the disc then sold as dlc. Call it cynicism if you want, it's better than being called a fool.
Only reason i haven't tried the original or the remake yet is because of the camera and controls. They're so unappealing that i find more joy in completing this game...through a Left 4 Dead custom map (which btw is masterfully done, if you have L4D2, play these maps. 1 for RE1, 2 for RE2 and 1 for RE3. They didn't make any RE maps beyond that...unless you count one simply titled "The Hive" i think that map is based on the...movie? Idk, i played the map which was good but never seen the movie) Anyway i'd buy RE1 remake in the style of RE2 remake in a heartbeat, idc about other RE games being remade, although Veronica seems intriguing
Honestly, Re 1 remake is already a great game so I see much more necessary a remake of the 5 and 6 to close the numerated pre Re 7 era in a high note, with all games from the 1 to the 8 (and maybe 9 or 10) in a similar level of quality, available in all platforms for everyone to discover or revisit, then I would close some loose ends with games like code Veronica or Re 0 or Re 1 re remake.
True a full remaster with third person camera would be a great way to show the younger fan base what it was like when the series first started. I would like a remaster of dead aim a resident evil game not many people played but I did and liked how it switched from exploring in third to first when shooting and it picked up from when raccoon city was destroyed so plot wise it’s a game that shouldn’t be overlooked. I can’t wait to see the trailers for RE9.
To be fair the Re 1 remake remaster (lol) still looks great. I do somewhat agree though however I feel that it would be best suited in the Re7/8 style in first person. The tight corridors of the mansion would just work better in 1st person IMO (some people are probably mad at me even saying that). Personally I would be most interested in a Code Veronica remake. Also Re3 Remake isn't bad, it's just missing stuff. If it was a bit longer and contained certain parts from the PS1 game it would be great. Still, I got it on a steam sale for super cheap and I would probably have a different opinion on if I had paid full price.
Re3 2020 wasn't simply mediocre, it was a blasphemous mockery of the original. Resident Evil doesn't need a remake, not because it's already been remade, but because it's remake was flawlessly executed. It was the only true "remake". I will admit that it'd be interesting to experience in the RE engine though. Hopefully the next rerelease is a true remake like the original rather than a reimagining like what we have been getting since 2019. I want a remake that fleshes out and expands on what we already have, one that captures and further enhances the magic of the original game instead of succeeding it in title alone.
Wow less than a minute in and already a RE3 remake dunk, that's a new record for one of these vids. lol In all seriousness, I think we get it by now. Calling it mediocre when Capcom rushed the devs is just a bit of low hanging fruit at this point. Anywho, yeah I'd love to see more remakes of these other games as long as Capcom actually prioritize them like with 1,2 and 4 and not make outside devs crunch and get it done on a tight dead line like 3.
I'd say CV,, maybe surviver (never played it) need remakes. The current leadership at capcom has a decent chance of being of being able to do better than the originals. Zero, I'm torn on. The only real flaws in it are the lack of item boxes and the character switch system. They could improve that. I don't believe for a second they could equal the quality of what that game gets right. A remake of Zero would be a double-edged sword unless they can get Shinji Mikami to come back and lead the project. That said, they are clearly out classed when it comes to trying to improve on RE1R. It is still the best game in the series. Nothing in the modern remakes came close to the artistry, atmosphere, gameplay, and design of the first remake. They didn't even outclass anything about their original iterations outside of graphics. And even then, look at the haunting quality of the graphical style of RE1R. It makes the graphics of the modern remakes look boring and generic. Modernization is an extremely loaded term in the modern age of video games.
@@JoJoZaka I didn't play the tank control titles until around 2011, long after that style was considered outdated and still loved them. People who claim that tank control video games are unplayable are the kind who quit after five minutes and blame the game for their own inability.
@@jackjax7921If you actually believe what youre saying then youre not worthy of being in an argument about RE, Jill became one of the most beloved characters in the franchise because or her personality, looks and skills. If you think that the Mary Sue version of Jill is the superior one then youre hopeless.
One thing I never liked was that older Resident Evil games limited the use of their Save Functions. I can understand it because of the Limit Game Mechanics in the past. But when Capcom decides to remake them, there's no excuse to make the Save Feature unlimited. I never like games that limit the player, such no having a Pause Feature or limit the player for saving the game. It's unfair that they have those restrictions because the player obviously needs to take breaks. Games with these limitations force the player to play non-stop. Not allowing the player to save their progress whenever they want is unfair because again the player needs to take breaks, but what if there is a blackout? The Save Feature is important because they save your progress, so you can take breaks and come back later to pick up where you left off. But Anyway! Quick Question? Should Dino Crisis get a Remake or a Remaster or a Reboot?
