I appreciate how y’all try to understand durk 😂 idk her name but shawty on the left gotta open her mind up a lil in regards to how the streets actually work and what comes with it. The nature of hip hop is not to promote positive images n mindsets(even tho it’s preferable and appreciated when done so). It’s nature is to report. Hip hop was founded from poverty and pain. Rappers reflect their realities, not glorify their demons. Durk entire first verse was more positive then she gave him credit for. He spoke on taking care of kids and family, the pain of missing out on his kids life for a year and the emotions he goes thru as a leader. It is known that durk still is embedded in the streets. He talks PAIN in his music, not glorifying anything. It’s his life fr. When u lose people u love to a life style and still have people u love very much in that same lifestyle while your in a position like him, being “positive and uplifting” isn’t on your mind. Hurt is.. constantly.. the streets come with ptsd and that’s a simple fact... even his second verse he starts off with “i been to jail too many times, it feel like karma(remorse) everywhere i go i sleep wit my sticc, what i need a alarm for? (paranoia) police had they guns out, i put my arms up, ain’t too big to pray last minute i put my palms up(repentance)” .. u have to listen to RAP with a understanding of its nature and purpose. Rap artist are amount the most emotionally and mentally tortured musicians in the world because of the environments they come from. Being a successful rapper in the US is easily top 10 most dangerous professions we have here in the past 5 years. Again the attempt to understand is admirable, but just because you don’t understand it doesn’t mean the message is negative. The message is honest and a reflection of the realities that a lot of young blacc men in these communities are facing. Those lines you called “blah blah “ mean a lot to some people. Durk saying “take care of your kids and your family, cause I’m too big on family” can be a real influence to people who need to hear that. Your just not in that demographic.. I’m saying this because this isn’t the first time I’ve seen y’all give durk this kinda critique and i felt it was unfair due to lacc of understanding.. hopefully this was a insightful comment for y’all.. keep up the good work tho. I watch y’all reactions out of curiosity of how y’all interpret some content.
I fw anna may. Sometimes I don't know what shay be talking about. Shay said "I don't know how far rapping about the hood stuff go get them" They are both the two biggest artists in the States so apparently is working and they by far are not one dimensional they both make mainstream but they make music for the streets so people in their hoods can embrace it.
