Why was I watching this as a child? 😯😂

I shot this whole visual in my loft that was above skid row. I was jus coming off of my first film SPORK that i wrote / dir. and pulled in some of my dancers from the film. The reason it's all females of color is cause they were a dance troop. I wrote the treatment for this video over a year before I met debbie and originally tried to get Iggy Azalea to do it but she passed. I sat on the visual for a while given I was dead set on turning a dope lead artist into Kelly Bundy with a gang of Peg Bundy's doing choreographed booty bass dance in matching Budweiser bathing suits with pink cement blocks that I sprayed painted myself then soaked them in glitter. Then I met Debbie at a mutual friends fashion party and she smoked me out in her car. I offered to do a visual for her and asked if she had any heavy bass tracks. I'm originally from Miami and was a b-boy so bass is a big deal for my 3rd eye as a director / creator. She played Ratchets and the bass literally filled my body. I showed her my treatment and she was down. I offered to pay for most of the video given as a weird ass artist living above skid row in a giant warehouse I was jus happy to get a chance to get my expression out any way I could. Once it dropped, Miley C tweeted her fav. movie of all time was my film SPORK and I reached out to her. She got right back to me / str8 up called me directly. I was in the middle of doing my next music video, another weird crazy visual I got to curate from the ground up for Luciana titled "Primitive." Miley said she was in love with my film and then randomly said she loves a music video called Ratchets. I laughed and said "gurl, I directed / created that video in my loft." She geeked out. Was a cool feeling thinking I impressed a star on her level. Anyhow, I never ended up shooting a Miley video but saw she hired my dancers from Spork who were also in Ratchets. No hard feelings. I'm an off-the-beaten-path / hella slanted artist who, as anyone can see from my fllm to my music videos, am a bit odd. I'm hoping both Miley & Debbie are doing well and shining bright. Hell, I'm just happy Miley tweeted about my film and Debbie gave me a chance to get my visual out. Both are strong women who have nothing but my respect. Life is hella strange and though sometimes things feel a bit lame as they happen to us, I'm a strong believer in "Hope." I've since taken a step back from doing music videos and focused on making my own art films. My latest just premiered in Sundance. Took me 5 yrs to make it. So... that's dope. Still a street artist who's always doing his own thing, so whatever I can do to get my visual expression out kind of makes me hella humbled vs anything else. I've rarely made any money on my efforts. Never wanted anything but respect to be shown of the girls in the backdrop and truly felt their art of dance was better left to them vs. searching for a female of a different color simply to offset the vibe. I've always been the only white cat in my crew growing up (I'm 50% east Indian but I look like a basic white boy) and the last thing I'd ever think of doing is spewing any disrespect. If anything, all my efforts these days is curating visual work that lifts up our species while allowing my inner-ghost to breathe. Blah blah... a bit late at saying something but figured I'd comment. shine & radness to all. and never stop. no matter the road blocks. jus keep doing you. peace. ox 11:11

I have a friend from Chicago who lives in Paris that asked me about what a "ratchet" is. This video explained it for me. BTW- the women in this video auditioned for it. No one is "using" them. They are letting themselves be "used" and they all got a fat paycheck for their troubles too, I'm sure.
